The second half of the book covers carving proper and describes simple lines, woodcuts, low-relief pierced designs, sculpture in the round, inlay and marquetry, lettering, indoor and outdoor decorations, and styles. The final chapter describes finishing, repairs, and the care of tools. Largly writing except for first few chapters. Quite a few black and white photographs (none as large as half page size that I can see) giving egs of projects, usually alongside the pages of writing. Small font.

Written in 1936, it's very concise and comprehensive, covering all aspects of wood carving, from whittling folk art to elaborate relief and decorative art, with ample instructions for getting started and honing your skills at the craft.
