c2000. As it says on the tin! The book I read was only the first volume covering A-K. I would imagine that this would be an invaluable reference book for anyone considering writing a medieval tale or spec-fic for that matter. It was strange to note just how many spec-fic books seem to have a similar if not exact plot of some of these old folktales. All cultures seem to be covered with a number of contributors. The 'exhaustive' bibliographic guides also point you in the right direction if more in depth information is sought. some judicious use of illustrations as well.
