What’s a dragon slayer to do when she comes home from battle and discovers her four-year-old son has turned into the creature she hunts? While Bailey Monzac knew it might happen someday, nothing could have prepared her for this challenge without her shifter mate, Aidan, by her side.
After fleeing for her life from Oklahoma five years ago and leaving him behind, she’d begun working for the New American Coalition on the east coast. While it has been a haven, the people are not fond of anything that can breathe fire. On top of that, she’s just received a mystical “call” telling her that grave danger is approaching the home she left, and she must return. That means crossing nearly a thousand miles of treacherous territory in a post-apocalyptic world and potentially facing the same threat that made her leave.
Meanwhile, Aidan has his own troubles. He’s paid a heavy price for helping Bailey escape his clan while she was pregnant with their child. It was the only option for them at the time, and he’d do it again, but now the pendragon has given him a deadly mission to search enemy territory. With dark magic permeating the area, sapping the life force of those who cross it, most have never returned. If Aidan wants to provide a secure place for his mate and their son when they arrive, he must face it and so much more. Only by choosing the right path will they survive the evil forces coming their way.

I loved this and every time I get back into the Dragon's Breath world, I remember why I love this series so much. Of all the post apocalyptic books I've read, if it was going to happen with dragons, this is exactly how us humans would deal with it. As ever, it's the small details in these books that makes it fun, and as always the wonderful, off the page alive characters that keep me reading. Bailey and Aidan have had to live the last 4 years apart, it's not been easy but they have each grown in ways they needed to, bringing multiple factions together to face the evil that will be coming their way. At times, they have it bad, but they also time for heartwarming moments and family antics that make you smile. As ever the writing is fabulous and I am kept on the edge of my seat, forgetting everything in my own boring day to day life for the excitement of becoming immersed in dragons and characters that feel like family.
This is simply a flaming fabulous five-star read. This is number six in the Dragons breath series and they all follow Baileys story and just builds on her experiences as the world changes and shapes around her. All through the series Bailey has just grown from strength to strength and my heart has grown along with her, but this one just had that little something extra, and I don’t just mean a little gas bundle, even though he was just amazing, and so well written, he made me smile so much with his little Golden ways. The strength that Aiden has in this story, the way he holds himself just blew me away, the battle they will all face will likely mean that not all will survive and this will likely break me, as we have come to know and love them all, but in all honestly this author has such a way with words that I am excited at the prospect. Now bring on the next story, as I am so excited to get my teeth into it.
Bailey and Aiden always give me ALL the feels. I love their commitment to each other and their people, I love their chemistry, their strength and their determination. No matter what happens in the story and whatever twists and turns will be thrown at me, I have faith that they will stay true to who they are and to each other, and I love that. This book packed a powerful punch, especially in the battle department. We got to see old friends and make some new ones, which was awesome. And there is a certain sexy shifter who I hope gets a spin off novel!! At first I was thrown for a loop at the initial time jump, but Illene handled it well and filled in the gaps in time seamlessly throughout the book. I am so looking forward to the last installment and this book has really set the scene for that one, and I think it is going to be epic!
This next installment of the Dragon's Breath series answers some questions and poses more. Does Bailey make it back to Aiden? Who are their allies? What is coming for them? And that baby! Don't miss this exciting adventure! Plan to not do anything until you are done reading this one.
Omg what a great romantic adventure for Bailey & Aidan. We got to watch their son mishaps and fun on raising a baby dragon. Enjoyed the old gang and the new ones. Since they still haven’t taken the evil dragons out there will be a book 7?
Bailey, her son and allies finally received the call to return to Oklahoma. Their journey is not easy but they gain some new allies on the road. Aiden confronts the dark magic and makes plans to protect his family when they return.
Another amazing book! Lots of action and Another great storyline. We get to meet Bailey and Aidan's son, and several new characters. We are getting closer to the finale and I can't wait!
I had been wondering what had become of the eldest brother. Glad the author is letting him back into the story. This is an excellent series. Please write more.
It has been 5 long years since Bailey and Aidan have been together. She had her son Orion, who shifts into a golden dragonling. She and the orb team have all grown stronger, have more techniques to battle the dragons and are ready when they get the call. Traveling from NC to Oklahoma isn’t easy and Aidan has suffered a lot for his love and assistance to Bailey as she escaped the pendragon. Reuniting with Bailey means Aidan must make the boldest moves to date to ensure her and their son’s safety and by any means necessary he will do what he must. A darker threat has also taken over the west making a march by the full bloods backed by evil dark sorcerers imminent. Reunions, new alliances and loses make this book seriously good page turner. I can’t wait for the next in this series.
