Dancers Between Realms: Empath Energy - Beyond Empathy

Rate this book
The Empath. The word has found its way into our consciousness accompanied by ideas of healing, sharing emotion and pain. Empaths are sensitive, caring, responsive people who have at the core of their nature an innate ability to receive energy, information and awareness from others with a depth and intensity that is beyond our customary understanding of empathy. Yet, this very receptivity and permeability brings its own challenges. It is vital for empaths to recognize themselves as such and to consciously explore, understand and address this energetic flow in their life. Self-inquiry is the essential tool to understanding all that motivates and colors your experience of the world. The book explores in depth this receptivity, as well as tools, concepts and approaches to support understanding and how to flourish with this heightened sensitivity. This book is a shared journey, edited from years of workshops and sessions with Elisabeth Fitzhugh and the Orion group.

A friend recommended this book to me and I found it very useful and helpful, giving me a new way to frame my sensitivity and receptive experiences. I was somewhat surprised at the one very negative review, as I myself found a lot of practical approaches to managing and thinking about my sensitivity or as I now think of it, feeling like an empath.

The book was edited from workshops and most of the examples come from people sharing their experiences, and I found it so supportive to hear other peoples stories and felt connected to them. After reading it, I now use it as a kind of reference book, returning to it when I feel overwhelmed or unclear of what I am feeling, as in, is this only me or am I picking up something from someone else? I'm glad I found it.

Have you been told, "You're just too sensitive!" Or, "Why don't you just relax? Everything is fine", or "You worry too much"? This book may be for you. Fitzhugh provides practical information for a amorphous topic - being an empathic individual in today's world.

I didn't realize, until I read this book, that *I* am an empath. Wow... no wonder displays of anger by another person could feel overwhelming to me. No wonder it has always been so easy to be swept up in a tidal wave of emotion and the drama that surrounds it. Empathic individuals are highly susceptible to the currents of emotion that swirl around them - and if one doesn't know how to manage that input, it can be completely overpowering - or worse, draining and ennervating.

Fitzhugh manages to explain the reasons, and offer ways to overcome some of the negative things about being 'overly sensitive'. She takes a very difficult, wide-ranging topic, and avoids a ton of "woo woo" potential while offering insights as to how to deal with being an empath in a world where one is constantly bombarded with information and sensory input.

A wonderful guide that offers real understanding, information and help. A worthwhile read, a wonderful gift.

I just finished reading Dancers Between Realms by Elisabeth Y. Fitzhugh. It's a non fiction book. It's a book about Empaths and empath energy. It explains why things are they way they are for empaths. It also gives ways they can cope better in a world full of non empaths. It gives pointers on ways to channel the energies they are constantly receiving.

The book was very easy to read and understand. A lot of books like these are written with many big dollar words that leaves the reader feeling lost and confused. I personally really enjoyed this book. I feel like I understand myself and others better because of this book. There were many parts in this book that really struck home for me. Especially when it says that many Empaths are sometimes diagnosed with depression. I was diagnosed with that as a child. Because of this book I now know why I am the way I am. I also know ways to interact with people and channel energy better.

There wasn't really much I didn't like about this book. I feel like the examples were a little brushed over and not really played out as much as they should have been. I also feel like there were many things that were mentioned in the book that could have been explained just a little better. Other than that, I didn't have any problems with the book at all.

I would have to say that I would recommend this book to all empaths out there. I feel like it would help them understand themselves a lot better. It would also give them helpful tips on how to cope and deal with the energies they experience. I would also recommend this book to anybody who is a friend or a relative of an empath. I feel that a lot of people who aren't an empath would understand empaths better if they read this book. They wouldn't feel so distant from them if they understood what the empath went through on a daily basis.

Problematic attitudes and misinformation abound in this book, as well as being 95% unnecessary fluff, which made it difficult and irritating to try and push through. I spent a great deal of time while reading this either rolling my eyes or very angry at how things were presented.

Not much use at all for helping gain control of one's empathy nor for helping understand the world as an empath. Largely just a new-agey book with nothing of worth to offer someone looking for practical advice or stories to connect with from other empaths.

I really liked the book. It taught me things about myself that I didn't know and how to keep it under control.
