Surprisingly good, retro book is super relatable and sweet.

A girl gets seriously hurt while walking in the woods alone. Death is discussed. 8+.

After Flora's grandmother dies, Flora is claimed by her distant relatives. They turn her world upside down! There's the mom and dad, who feel the need to change Flora while appointing her head-babysitter. There's a teenage girl who is too moody and a sickly boy who is too mouthy. Worst of all, there is a little girl who has decided that Flora is her idol. Meanwhile, all Flora wants to do is curl up on her favorite tree and cry. She never asked for a new family.

This was a book that my mom had gotten many years ago for her appointed little sister. Well, recently, this book ended up in my hands — along with an old copy of Wake Me At Midnight. Since I didn't love Wake Me At Midnight, I assumed that I would not love this book. I, however, was wrong. This tale was a truly accurate exploration of what it really means to be a tween at home. Though this book obviously exaggerates some emotions a bit, almost everyone can relate to occasionally feeling misunderstood, annoyed, and like you just want to be left alone.

Overall, this book was a tender portrayal of growing up when it feels like the world is against you.

I didn't want to read this book at first but my mom convinced me to read it. After, I ended up liking it. I like how it seems that it could happen in real life but I also liked the little parts of make believe in this book. Just the small lines that the main character said lit up the story. It is also fun to hear the sounds of the forest and learn some wild flower names.

This book is about a girl named Flora. When her Grandmother dies, her half-relatives take over and now she has no privacy. And even worse she has to put up with three kids, they even make her share a room with Missy the pest that asks too many questions. The other two are rude ten year old Curtis and fifteen year old Doreen that always has on make-up.
