Competing alone in the back of beyond, Cory discovers he needs to learn to work with Nature if he is to win ... and indeed survive. So he harnesses all of his CounterStrike experience to become a "cunning runner" and try to finish the race against the odds. the title refers to the two vital pieces of information the orienteer needs to which way is North, and which way is up, something Cory has to learn in every sense of the word.

this book is about a computer nerd named corey, corey has to join an activity group so he picks orienttering, he picks it up quite quicky but one of the members in this group disagrees with corey.

this way up is about an over weight man that hasnt done much in his life, he starts orientering to get out more and enjoy life, and maybe lose a few pounds on the way.
