When life turns bizarre, you have to ask... is it too good to be true?
After waking in hospital with no memory of the last seven years, as far as Freya is concerned, she is single, living in a one-bed flat with a front door held together by duct tape.
All she wants are answers, but under doctor’s orders to keep her blood pressure down, her overprotective parents won’t tell her what her life has become.
Being in the hospital does come with one advantage. While seeking an escape from her desolate feelings, she is befriended by Matt Lord, the movie star who could play a Greek God without the aid of a make-up department. To begin, she revels in this friendship, but when he tells her about his perfect wife and children, jealousy is all she is left with.
Feeling alone and unloved, Freya decides it’s time to escape the hospital and get on with her life, but before she can leave, she must learn the truth about who she really is.
I overall loved this book. But it was a little too much “Hollywood” talk, and not enough focus on her husband and family.
I loved the beginning in the hospital and the mystery of who Matt was really. But it got a little too confusing. Especially when it came to recalling memories. It was just thrown in and looked like the rest of the story. I guess it should have been italicized or otherwise noted as such.
The Cat in the Box is a gripping, emotionally layered story about identity, memory, and the painful beauty of rediscovery. Andrea Jame pulls you into Freya’s surreal world as she wakes up with no memory and slowly unravels the truth about her life. The writing is heartfelt and the mystery keeps you turning pages, especially with the enigmatic presence of Matt Lord. A moving exploration of self-worth and second chances, this book is both thought-provoking and impossible to put down.
Absolutely loved this book and couldn’t put it down. I feel like every woman wants a man like Matt and every woman wants to be like Freya! Clever storyline, very well written and really fun plots and twists. I’m so excited for the next book to be released and to get my Matt ‘fix’. Highly recommend for a fun, easy read!!
This book was absolutely magical. It had me laughing and crying. I would recommend it to everyone I know. This book had me hooked from beginning to end, and I literally could not stop reading. I finished in one sitting.
This story grabs hold immediately and pulls you along twists and turns of recovery. I will definitely recommend it. I will be following this author for more intriguing stories.
I signed up for KU just for this book after a FB post (so that works). I held my breath at chapter 10, I nearly cried for the MFC and loved their story. Well written, excited to read more from this author.
This was a very good book. It was so hard to put down. The romance and family love was so powerful. It had humor also and just made you feel good reading it. I enjoyed this book from start to finish.
While I feel like Freya actually being Matt’s wife was quickly predictable, it definitely had me doubting myself up until that rooftop moment. All in the same, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and their kind of second-chance love story.

I love how Andrea mixed the title in with life. MC never understood what was going on till it came to the right moment and she still pushed through… I love that for her.
Took me so long to read this book simply because I wasn’t interested in if, felt like it was very back and forth. The whole cheating with with her husband was a stupid story line.
