my spouse and i have (sort of) become part of the West Colorado(ugh) High Desert Book Club. This was the book -- for the early Feb. reading -- based on regional authors' books about, well, the local region. I enjoyed this book, my spouse didn't -- was bored by it. However, Mr. Minor, while being a shepherd in west Colorado wrote his observations on local wildlife -- almost all of which was very insightful and interesting. ... sort of sad that, seemingly, this work does/did not qualify as "required field textbook(s)" for any- and every-one interested in the habits and such of regional wildlife.
If you like the outdoors and you like the Colorado outdoors, this is a very good book to read. The prose paints a picture of western Colorado's outdoor environment so well that all five senses are engaged. This is a gem of a book I found in the gift shop while visiting the Colorado National Monument. I rate this book at 4.7.
