A prolific writer, Gideon who also writes as Dana Ransom and Lauren Giddings, attributes her creative output, which once peaked at seven novels in one year, to her love of history and a gift for storytelling. She also credits the discipline learned through a background in journalism and scheduling writing time around diaper changes, Scout meetings, band lessons and outings to the Zoo Boo...and, of course, OCD. The due date for her third book and her second son were on the same day...and both were early! When on deadline, she'd turn on the laptop between 4:30 and 5:00 a.m. to get a chapter in before work.

While the pace is often hectic, Gideon, a Gemini, enjoys tackling diverse projects. One month it’s researching the gritty existence of 1880’s Texas Rangers only to jump to modern themes of intrigue and possibly a legal thriller or two. Then, it’s back to the shadowy netheworld of shape shifters, vampires and movie serial killers. When not working on her latest plot twist before sunrise, even now that she no longer works 9-5, she enjoys indulging in Netflix, hosting her critique group, and feeding all things fur, fin and fowl. And, of course, reading.

Even though Chased by Midnight was a hard act to follow, I liked Captured by Moonlight for most of the same reasons that I loved the first two books. I still loved Max - even though he is even more of a mess here than in previous books with the mating urge muddling his thinking- and happily Charlotte has much improved as a character. The pair still haves some rough spots to work through and with both Max and Charlotte holding back information to try and protect each other when dangerous Hunters come to town, trust is going to be a sticky point between them but finally after two books in which there seemed to be no path to a HEA for the mob boss' heir and the homicide detective, there is finally hope that the pair can pull it off.

** this is spoilerish **
If you've read the previous book, you know that Max and Charlotte were headed for this but I had problems with 'the Mating'. I was prepared for the partially shifted part of the act and the fact that Max was shifted was handled relatively subtly. And I knew it was going to be difficult - Max's father warned that humans don't always survive - but with Charlotte being a former victim of sexual assault and the scene which dealt with the immediate consequences of the mating pointing out how brutal it was for Charlotte, I found that this part of the story was really rough to read and not at all romantic. Also Max's loss of control didn't feel right to me characterwise - Max has control of his full wolf shape after all, so why not the partial wolf one as well?
** end spoiler **

Overall, though I did still enjoy the book, there is a good intensity to the relationship between Max and Charlotte that author Gideon has been able to maintain through all three books and it is really great to actually get a paranormal romance which really has time for the starring pair to work through obstacles in a way that wouldn't have been possible in a single book. Also I am happy that Gideon did leave the series open for more books even though I think that I read that she doesn't plan on keeping the Max and Charlotte in the spotlight after these first three books - which would be too bad because I'd like to see more of them, there were some really interesting developments relating to their bonding and Max and Charlotte are really still a work in progress.

This is the book I have been waiting for! Finally I felt like Cee Cee and Max were on the same page by the end. For books 1 and 2, and even the beginning of Captured by Moonlight, it was like they were taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back. Cee Cee was a prickly bitch and at the most important times both of them shut up and didn't talk. I am not a fan of this as a plot device and nor am I a fan of angst which seems to be a lot of this book - especially since there is some questions over Max's faithfulness (he doesn't cheat).

But the plot once it got going is great and the end had me riveted. I'm really looking forward to reading book 4 so I can get the conclusion (and hopefully solid HEA) at the end of it.

New Orleans best cop, Charlotte “Cee Cee” Caissie has just returned from visiting her family. Cee Cee is ready for some rest and relaxation. Luckily for her, she has the next best thing…her sexy lover, Max. Max is a shape shifter. So you could say he has a wild side to him

Someone is chasing Max. Whoever it is has Max wanting to let loose and let his other side take over. This is all fine except that Max could turn on Cee Cee at a moments notice. Cee Cee loves Max but she is still trying to adjust to his shape shifter side. Max has been there for Cee Cee all the time. Now it is Cee Cee’s turn to repay the favor. Can Cee Cee help Max before it is too late?

Captured by Moonlight is the third book in the Moonlight series. I really like this series. Cee Cee and Max make an excellent team. Not to mention that they just sizzle together. New Orleans is not just the only thing heating up the nights. There was so much action taking place in this book that I just flew through it. My only criticism I had and it was minor is that I felt this book was a little slow to get started. This only went on for about the first chapter. Nancy Gideon will have you looking at shape shifters in a whole new light. Captured by Moonlight will capture a place in both your heart and book shelf!

This is a good read. Prepare to be on the edge of your seat about a lot of things. This couple sucks at communication. In past books, Cee Cee has been just as much to blame as Max. However, in this one, it's mostly Max. There were times when I just said...leave his ass...but she stuck it out. Ultimately that was just what Max needed after what he'd suffered through his whole life. Interesting side characters and and terrifying bad guys round out this nail-biter.

I loved the first two books of this series, and I had high hopes going into book 3. But sadly I was let down, not saying it wasn't good it was just lacking. I felt the whole book was CeCe and Max being stupid with each other.

Here's hoping the book 4 when I get to it will be a jump back to goodness.

NOTE: I thought this was going to be a trilogy, but was happy to see #4 Bound by Moonlight coming out in 2011. Ok, so a quadrilogy then. Nope! Just stopped by the author's website to double check and she writes:

Pocket Paranormal Romance as Nancy Gideon:

Masked by Moonlight – Moonlight series #1 (5-10)
Chased by Moonlight – Moonlight series #2 (6-10)
Captured by Moonlight – Moonlight series #3 (7-10)

and three more to come . . .

So, I guess we have (at least) two more after BBM to look forward to.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Captured by Moonlight continues the story of Max Savoie and Detective Charlotte Caissie. Cee Cee and Max are living together, trying to keep their work and personal lives separate, but realizing that is harder than they'd hoped.

The book starts off with Cee Cee returning home from her mother's funeral. In town, the little brother of one of Max's employees has been found dead in the river. Cee Cee is on the case and Max believes the boy was killed because someone is looking for him.

Max' powers are changing him. Changing him so much that Cee Cee's not sure they can stay together no matter how badly they want to. She's human and he's "more". Can she be what he needs? Can he keep from hurting her, the only person he's ever loved?

This series, which started as a trilogy, is a fun read. I love the shifter world that Gideon's created. Max is the perfect tortured hero and although Cee Cee can be annoying at times, she's a strong heroine and determined to do whatever it takes to stay with the man she's let into her heart. I am happy there will be more books to come and look forward to the next one, Bound by Moonlight.

The CeeCee and Max saga continues in Nancy Gideon’s Moonlight series Captured by Moonlight.

This 3rd book brings about more conflict, relationship struggles and trust issues for this duo as they try to work on their complicated relationship and CeeCee always the cop has her loyalties tested yet again.

The conflict CeeCee and Max must endure would test most normal couples, but add in CeeCee’s police status, Max’s questionable business practices and his non-human status plus the fact that Max and CeeCee have a history of keeping secrets from one another and the struggle between these two is only enhanced by their conflict.

Captured by Moonlight focuses more on Max and delves deeper into his past as he deals with his developing shape shifter abilities that even he doesn’t begin to understand and he must cope with discovering and realizing the importance of his potential.

I found Captured by Moonlight to be grittier and darker than the first two. Max undergoes some pretty terrifying changes and given CeeCee’s background, there were times their story was not all roses and rainbows. Thank goodness these two realize that their relationship is worth all the ups and downs because they are a potent couple.

I loved all three books in this series (and this from someone who is not a big paranormal fan) and the fact that it is a continuing series featuring a great couple. I am so glad that there will be a couple more next year and I can’t wait for more goodness from Ms. Gideon. Max and CeeCee are too good together for their story not to continue.

If you love sexy paranormal romance then you must read this series, but please start with the 1st book Masked by Moonlight. You must experience CeeCee and Max’s wonderful relationship from the start. You would be doing yourself a disservice if you miss out on their beginning.

Captured by Moonlight
4 Stars

Crime boss, Max Savoie, and Homicide Detective, Charlotte Caissie’s personal and professional lives are put to the test when a threat from Max’s unknown past raises its ugly head and hits a little too close to home.

After a rocky start (mainly due to Charlotte’s prickly personality), the series is living up to its potential with a story arc that becomes more gripping with each installment and a romance that only increases in depth and intensity.

As the book begins, Max and Charlotte's relationship is still one step forward two steps back. This is annoying at first as they are constantly sniping at each other only to forgive and forget. Nevertheless, they ultimately face each and every obstacle head on and end up a solid couple willing to do what it takes to be together. Whether or not this trend continues remains to be seen.

The progression of the overall story arc raises intriguing questions concerning Max’s true nature and leads to some action packed moments as well as a particularly heart-pounding climax. Moreover, the final scenes of the book are amazing and actually had me tearing up.

In terms of the secondary characters, Jacques and Giles continue to impress and Babineau’s family are endearing, especially little Ozzie. Unfortunately, Babs himself is beginning to grate on my nerves and there is one scene in particular that made me question is honor and integrity.

All in all, Moonlight is one of those series that raises angst to a new level and results in readers either adoring the characters and the plots or wanting to throw the book against the wall. The more I read, the more it seems I will eventually join the ranks of the former rather than the latter.

Captured By Moonlight is the third installment of Nancy Gideon's Moonlight series. Max Savoie, a pureblood shape-shifter, is settling in as the new crime boss of New Orleans and king of the city's shifter population. The love of his life is the very human police detective Cee Cee Caissie. Max and Cee Cee are emotionally damaged characters, consumed by a forbidden, passionate and very dangerous relationship. In this book there is a depth to the characters we haven't seen before. You can feel their anguish as they battle to love and protect each other and stay true to themselves.

The story is dark, suspenseful and action-packed. After a young shifter is tortured and killed by what could only be supernatural means, Max knows he is being hunted by powerful shifters from the north sent to destroy him, the same ones his father warned him about. He soon discovers a family secret and realizes there is another shifter being targeted, one he must protect at all costs. The action leads to a thrilling and heart wrenching climax. The story's conclusion was satisfying but left some questions unanswered, leaving an opening for future books in the series. Captured By Moonlight is an original shape-shifter tale that fans of paranormal romance will enjoy. The author does a good job providing background information from the first two Moonlight books, but readers would enjoy this one more if the series was read in order.

What's with this author wanting you to believe that Max was sleeping with other people. There's the part at the party when he was dancing and touching other women, and the parts where he doesn't come home at night. Then at the club when she leaves him there by himself, this was the major scene and thank god the doubt only lasted a couple chapters. All of this is happening in this book because of his mating urges. These urges are messing up the way he thinks and acts.

I'm going to read book 4 which is the last book about Max and Charlotte and if its in this one too I don't believe I'm going to finish out the series. I could maybe deal with it in one book but so far we are 3 for 3 with the doubts about his faithfulness its just getting old. BTW he never does have sex with someone else, it just keep getting put in the story line book after book.

There is one scene of half/shifted sex. It has very little detail but you know it was happening. It's also a violent sex scene, but she knew what she was getting into when she decided to have sex with him when he was half/shifted.

Nancy Gideon displays all the things I look for in an author. Her descriptions are so vivid, you can see them happening before you. She elicits emotions from the reader as they capture the essence of the growing relationship between Cee Cee and Max...the sex between Cee Cee and Max is thrilling, yet tender. You can feel the utter disdain that Max has for anyone that goes near her.

Bravo Nancy and thank you. Can't wait to start Bound.

Crazy good story - fast paced, lots of action! Some great twists and turns- some angst! This continuing story of Cee Cee and Max is expanding - read through this one very fast - could not put it down!!! Max is amazing - still learning about himself and what and who he is - his devotion to Cee Cee - Charlotte is so strong and amazing - just as hers is to him! Their shared past and their strength of character to do what is right sets a great tone!!! Absolutely amazing series!!!

I have read the first two books in this series. And though I was somewhat impressed by the first book, I was less impressed by the second and even less with this one. In each book, Max and Charlotte have the same relationship problems with a different mystery, and nothing ever seems to be solved or worked out between the H and H, if they could be called that.

We have Max a supposed bad-ass “King of Beasts” and head of a criminal empire, and we have Charlotte and tough female cop. I have a problem with these characters and how they interact with each other. During this book Max has some problems with his family and with others of his kind trying to find him, most likely to kill him. But Charlotte was dumb enough to get involved, and actually called the Trackers and threatened them after just witnessing what they were capable of. Max also seems to be somewhat unbelievable as far as characters go, especially since he was subservient all of those years, only to be “top dog” (pun intended) now and act like it with all the posturing.

I’m get tired of the all of the lies, secrets, half-truths and forgiving each other just because they are “in love.” I don’t understand why the get mad at each other because they both have secrets and neither are willing share them because they stupidly believe that they are just protecting the other.

Charlotte at times seems to be ashamed of Max and doesn’t want to be seen in public with him. Charlotte and Max never talk their problems out, and she is always leaving him, or telling him to leave for one reason or another. And also in this book, she kept telling Max she wanted to mate with him, and wanted his mark, and that she accepts his “beast” but when he came to her like that, she panicked and pushed him away.

There were also some inconsistencies within the book because in the first one she said she never wanted another man because of what had been done to her, and couldn’t stand the touch. But in this one she throws it in Max’s face about what may have happened with her partner.

I must say that I want to read the rest of the series, though I didn’t care for this book, because I would like to see what happens with the relatives from up north, Ozzie, T-John and his shady deals, and the other characters.

I enjoyed this book very much. Nancy Gideon is an excellent writer. Her stories are always intriguing with many layers to unwrap until you finally finish the book and say, "hey wait...I don't want it to end. I want more." And more you get with this book and the three others in the series.

The story takes place in New Orleans, however, she has created a paranormal world within the city where a clan of shape-shifters live and work among humans.

"Captured" is the third of four books with the same hero and heroine. This isn't typical. We have all read trilogies or series in which the stories are wrapped up and the boy and girl live happily ever after. Then we move on to the next book, where we might meet up with them again briefly but the main characters are new.

In the first book, Masked by Moonlight we are introduced to Max Savoie. He isn't the typical "hero" we are used to in romances. He is the right-hand man of a crime boss and a shape-shifter, no less. Charlotte Caissie, a homicide detective is the heroine. Thus, the conflict. The pull between these two characters is immediate and they are charismatic. The sexual tension is great.

In book 2 Chased by Moonlight and book 4 Bound by Moonlightwe get the pleasure of watching the relationship grow and develop to a deeper level than can be shown in one book.

I really liked this aspect. I anxiously started the other books so I could read more about Max and Cee Cee (as she is called).

I highly recommend this book (and the whole series) regardless if you like paranormal romance.

Captured by Moonlight by Nancy Gideon
Paranormal Romance July 27th, 2010
4 stars

Captured by Moonlight is the 3rd in Nancy Gideon’s paranormal shifter series. Hardened yet surprising emotional characters make for an involving romance in this paranormal suspense novel.

Both Detective Caissie (AKA Cee Cee) and shifter Max Savoie have a rocky relationship. Neither is good at emotions but both love each other and are willing to compromise. However, Cee Cee’s life is the police force and Max is the new mob boss after his mentor Jimmy died. Seemingly polar opposites, they must face distrust and adversity to solve a murder without ruining their fragile relationship. One of Max’s young friends is savagely tortured. Then Max is hunted by the mysterious and deadly group known as the Trackers. Soon both their lives are at peril.

This story is gritty and realistic as both characters must make hard choices. What I enjoyed most about it was the developing relationship between the 2 main characters. They both were surprising vulnerable. Cee Cee and Max are cynical and deadly in their own right and it was great to read how they were only able to open up to each other. Both had very traumatic childhoods which are further explored and added to the depth the storyline. The addition of the Trackers made it very interesting. However, I had expected this story to conclude the series. While they are together at the end their relationship is not exactly stable and there are many unanswered questions that I feel the author left hanging for a possible future book?!

This was a dark and emotionally charged paranormal.

This book is the third in a series, which I haven't read the previous two. But after reading this one I most definitely will be reading the previous books in this series. Yes, I know that's odd, reading them out of order, but I've done it before, and mostly likely will be doing it again in the future. Although I do suggest you read this particular series in order, so you'll understand the history between the lead characters.

Captured by Moonlight features an already established relationship. It's not boy meets girl and falls in love with said girl, it's boy has already met and fell in love with girl. Hence my stance on reading this series in order.

Charlotte is a detective who happens to be in love with New Orleans' biggest crime boss, Max. Max is also a shape-shifter, not just any shape-shifter, but THE SHAPE-SHIFTER. Max is very Hot (with a capital H) and Charlotte lets him know it throughout the book. She also isn't afraid to go head-to-head with Max, and I love that! Captured by Moonlight takes you on the journey of some very dangerous trackers who are out to destroy Max by any means necessary.

The story moved along smoothly; there wasn't a whole lot of lags in the storyline. I found myself peeking ahead in parts just to see what was going to happen next. (I'm impatient like that :) It's unlikely any shape-shifter novel I've read before, which is refreshing because after a while they all seem rather familiar. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this wasn't just a trilogy, that there will be more from Max and Charlotte.

This is the third book in the trilogy. I read the first book, Masked by Moonlight and enjoyed it. I think that this book is even better than the first. I didn't get to read the middle book, but it wasn't absolutely necessary to read this book. This one is more about the relationship between CeeCee and Max. Yes, of course, you have the adventure of someone stalking and trying to kill Max and those close to him, but that really becomes the side story to the relationship. In one way this was delightful. We get to see both characters having to overcome their insecurities that have come about through extraordinary circumstances. In another way, there were times I wanted to smack both of their heads together. They both knew that the other was the only one that they could have and did trust with everything they held secret. So, when they refused to let the other in on what was currently going on within them I wanted to scream. It just seemed so unnecessary when the big stuff seemed to be out of the way. However, it also made sense considering neither knew how to trust anyone else in their lives.

If you read any of the other books, you will enjoy this book a lot. CeeCee is still her wonderful snarky self. Max still knows exactly how to raise her hackles. So, there is a lot of fun within the book. If you haven't read any of the books, you can read this one and it will stand alone, but I do suggest you read at least the first book. It holds a lot of the background that makes some of the references make a lot of sense. Plus, although this is the 3rd in this trilogy, there is enough left open that there could be more in the series. I give this adult book 4 stars.

This is just my personal opinion and shouldn't stop anyone from reading if they like this kind of story. But I’m going to stop reading this series. I tried for three books to get into it and I suspect that the relationship will get better toward the end (I hope), but I have too much backlog to chance it. There’s just too much angst and mixed up emotions that I can’t seem to get a handle on the relationship. It drove me crazy and bored me at the same time.

First off I don’t really like the characters. It seems like the second they start to work things out, a minute later they’re messed up again. Sometimes even sentence to sentence. Both of them to get a thicker skin, trust each other and commit. Both swear they’re trust each other and not keep secrets, then they hide important things for the other’s own good.

Then the actual story line has no real substance. Just wondering who killed the most recent body and how that’s going to affect their relationship. All we know is the there’s some mysterious group is out there hunting him and that the local politicians and businessmen are corrupt. I was hoping for more shifter action.

Somehow I seem to have skipped the second volume in this series. But of the two I have read this seems the weaker of the two. It's hard to believe that Max and Caissie will ever be together, her background is the law and his is crime, but he's going legit for her. It's not their own issues but those of others as well as a mysterious group of possibly government agents that kidnaps or kills shifters. It was a bit too mysterious.

Both main characters are moody and capricious, they act without cause or on a simple misunderstanding. And yet I still wanted them to be together. The final chapters are especially suspenseful. Right until the deus ex machina pulls the book's ass out of its proverbial own sling. But it was the only way to end i and keep the series going. Good, if impossible, sex. Good beach read.

-had a hard time getting into this one even though i've read the previous two in the series.

"you piss me off enough for me to want to cheerfully choke the life out of you sometimes."

"where's my fortune cookie?"
"sorry, i ate it. i'm going to be lucky in love."
"then that's a good fortune for both of us."

"i won't take a chance on hurting you."
"you're hurting me when you push me away."

"you want to know why he couldn't keep me? because he couldn't control me. he wasn't stronger than i am. he wanted me to be less, so he could be more."

"i don't want a man who can't go toe-to-toe with me. i don't want a man who'll back down or back off, one i can lead around on a leash."

Definitely 5++ stars

I love this first trilogy of Moonlight series
Still emotional like 2 previous books. Max Savoie and Charlotte (CeeCee) Caissie remind me so much of my everlasting favorite couple, Eve Dallas and Roarke from In Death series, but just minus paranormal aspect. And the fact that Max is werewolf not an ordinary human. But the way their relationship work is the same. How they struggle to balance each other despite their difference. Max with his shady life and CeeCee who is a detective. Max with his wild side and how CeeCee accept that part..

I almost cry when read this *sobs*

Really great series..:')
