This series is kind of waning on me. I simply want to finish it, but it feels like it's going on and on forever. I found that this volume was more interesting than the last few, but it doesn't pull me in quite as well as the initial volumes did. It's interesting to see the flash forward and see Yuki going out for the first time, but I also felt like it was just too dry. I find a lot of these volumes could be excluded and it wouldn't affect the story as much.

I find the illustrations are still marvellous though. I absolutely still love all of the pictures, and I swear that is one of the reasons I stick to this series.

Two out of five stars.

So, this story has some redeeming qualities to it. After the last few books left me oh-so disappointed, it took some time to bother grabbing this one.

*Warning* Spoilers ahead if you have not read previous volumes!

This volume picks up full swing at the vampire Soiree. It is the first time in a year Yuki has been out. A chance to be introduce to her new-found status. And a chance to see Zero. Ahhh, Zero. I really felt for him before but his character is running dry for me. Is it that I have had enough angst with him or how he is reacting or how he seems o be losing any personality? Not sure. Some mix of those. On the flip side, I really like Yuki in this one. She is showing some of you old spunk once again and even defies Kaname's wishes. Go Yuki!

we get to know about the pureblood Sara who thus far annoys me. Yet I think she is being set up for that so I can't fault her. Also we briefly meet another Pureblood (They're coming out of the woodwork!) and learn a secret of Yuki's adoptive father, the headmaster at the academy!

So a pace pick-up and a slight chance at a possibly new intrigue has improved my option on this series a bit. Still not nearly as good as the earlier volumes but we have another 7 volumes to go!

I can't tell anymore whether things are getting better or if my expectations are getting lower therefore it seems like things are better? The story seems to be getting more concise as the chapters go on. Maybe that's also wishful thinking on my part? I want to like this manga okay?! My adolescent self LOVED these until I completely forgot about it. So I want to finish this for her? Myself? I don't know at this point but I'm DETERMINED.

My first reaction to this volume of VK, upon finishing it, was: "Well, it's about time Yuki grew a spine."

Seriously, people. Ever since transforming into Supreme Vamp Princess, Yuki has essentially become Kaname-chan's bitch. You wanna lock me up away from my old friends and family, treat me like a lapdog and only pay any real attention to me when you're biting me/painting my nails? Anything for you, Kaname-sama!

Gag me with a two-by-four.

It's true, I loved this series up until the final part of volume 10. But once we got into the whole incest-buddies/steal way Yuki's old life thing, I was no longer so enamoured. To top it off, Zero's already unstable brain got to be pureed by the knowledged that his childhood friend, beloved, and emotional rock is a pureblood plasma-sucker.

I love Zero, I sorta love the old Yuki, I even love Kaname. But all three of them have been pissing me off lately. And that Sara chick? She's even creepier than Rido.

However, now that Yuki's starting to grow a pair and is no longer content with just playing incest-house with Kaname Onii-sama, I'm starting to have hope for this series once again. But, hell, I miss the Zero-Yuki bite scenes.

Vermisse Zero :(

I went into Volume 12 after having been frustrated with the last several volumes. Vampire Knight became extremely complicated and rather weird, but I was too invested in the series to give up. I'm pleased to say that I am more interested in the series after reading Volume 12. It's still really complicated and I'm not following it completely, but I'm getting caught up in the drama.

It's been a year since Yuki and Zero last saw each other. In the outside world, everything is falling apart in the vampire and hunter society. Kaname and Zero have each become very powerful in their own groups. Yuki meanwhile is being held virtual prisoner in Kaname's home.

I started out this series very solidly in the Team Kaname camp. After this volume, I've made a complete switch to Team Zero. Kaname is horribly restrictive of Yuki and very patronizing. He makes Edward Cullen seem like an easygoing, devil-may-care boyfriend in comparison. It's hard for me to know whether he really cares and worries about Yuki, or if he's trying to hold her back for his own purposes.

Yuki thankfully is getting out of the Kaname-love-haze which she's had for most of her life. She's sick and tired of just sitting here. She no longer wants to be a hummingbird in a flock of hawks. She wants to sore with the best of them. And she does. She rebels against Kaname's restriction and goes out on her own trying to make a difference.

Zero plays a role in this volume, but he didn't catch as much of my attention as Yuki. I like how Zero holds his own among the other vampire hunters. While he's pledged to be Yuki's enemy, you can also tell that he trusts and cares for her - even if he won't admit it.

I read a few other manga in between Volume 11 and Volume 12. One of the reasons, I enjoyed Volume 12 as much as I did was realizing that the drawings are superior to a lot of the other manga out there. I love how Yuki is drawn. She is slight and delicate, yet with a look of determination. I especially love her long, straight hair. Both Zero and Kaname are strong - with sharp jaws and broad shoulders, but have a beauty to them as well, with hair falling into their eyes.

Ha sido uno de los mejores tomos de la saga, al menos hasta ahora, me ha encantado la forma de describir ciertas cosas oscuras. Sin palabras.

The 12th Volume in the Vampire Knight manga series continues off from the events from the last volume. 1 year after the battle with Rido, Yuki and Zero find themselves at the same vampire soiree. When a pureblood vampire turns up dead, and hunter apparently commits suicide after doing the deed, things start to move as the new arc of the series appears.
This volume of Vampire Knight was a bit of a disappointment. Most of it was set-up for the evolving arc, and while I know set-up is important it's KILLING me to wait to read the next installment.
Yuki is slowly getting stronger as a heroine, and I'm hoping she'll end up being much more kick ass by the end of the series.
Zero is Zero, and I love his angsty angsty self.
Kaname is slowly becoming much more of a villain the way he controls Yuki and her actions. I love the hints Hino is giving us about his past, and can't wait to find out just exactly what he's up to and who he's been.
The art, as always, is absolutely stunning.

This book has gotten to a point where I can't remember what is going on between volumes and that lack of appreciation for current events is making the book hard to enjoy. Some disturbing relationship dynamics overshadowed a lot of the book too, but I am sure that was intentional.

Nice to see all the characters again. The soiree was fun. Would be cool to go to one of those. Also nice to get more information on the purebloods. Hope Zero and Yuki will make up.

Can't wait to read Vampire Knight volume 13!!!!!

I enjoyed the parts with Sara, though between this and the next volume (that I'm about halfway through), I'm getting the impression that the parts of the storyline that don't have directly to do with Yuki's development as a baby vampire are being made up as they go along, killing time until the conclusion that Hino has already come up with. Not an uncommon thing in manga.

The part with Kaname in the last few pages of this volume didn't make any sense until the first couple chapters of the next volume. The bonus story didn't make any sense, either, even though I read it twice. I couldn't figure out whatever it was trying to tell us about Cross... and, speaking of Cross, we learn something new about him in this volume, that--true to this manga--we've had not the slightest hint of before now.

Volume 12 is setting up for a new story arc. We potentially have a new villain and there is already strains in many of the relationships in this series, particularly our main love triangle with Yuki, Kaname, and Zero, but also the other vampires that swear allegiance to Kaname are thinking twice about their loyalty. While there might not be as much action in this installment, there is definitely high tension and everyone seems to be on edge.
Yuki and Zero, who have always been in each other's company, now can't stand to be in the same room together. Both are unhappy with their current status quo, but there is nothing they can do about what fate has given them. Kaname has continued to keep a tight grasp on Yuki's freedom, only allowing her to go as long she receives permission from him. I've always been Team Zero since I started this series. While I don't necessarily hate Kaname, I seem to dislike him more and more.
Unlike the other volumes in this series, the main focus of this volume is Yuki. I've always liked Yuki. She was a strong willed, determined, and always caring. Putting others needs ahead of her own. Once again, she is now faced to make a decision as to how she will define the rest of her life and shape it with purpose. You will never find Yuki on the sideline waiting for someone else to help solve her problems for her instead she will be the first in line to tackle the issue herself.
What I continually find interesting in the last few volumes of Vampire Knight is the budding relationship between Aido and Yuki. I don't necessarily sense a romantic interest in Aido, but I do get a sense that they are friends and that he respects Yuki. It'll be interesting on how their relationship will continue and possibly change. Although there is not really a cliffhanger ending in this volume, we are left with some interesting tidbits about Kaname as well as hints for those who want to see some background for Yuki's foster father Kaien Cross. This volume definitely feels like the calm before the storm of the next whirlwind of events which will undoubtedly hit Yuki, Zero, and the former Night Class. It's only a matter of time.

[Read more at my blog, Geeky Reading!]

So much is happening in this series, and it’s taking me way too long to catch up.

There’s a lot of Zero drama, whom I’m still feeling very iffy toward. I’m just not happy with him, and I don’t like that. I want to like him again.

There’s some more of the night class students, a lot of whom are up to their own things. Ichijo isn’t up to anything good, because he’s roped into Sara, a not-good pure blood vampire who I don’t trust. I still like Shiki and Toya a lot, their relationship, and how they approach things. I’m not too sure what Headmaster Cross is up to.

Yuki and Kaname together I still really like, although I’m getting bad feelings. Something bad is going to happen there, and I’m dreading it. Yuki, though, is learning and growing and trying to help the vampires and Kaname.

The story is moving somewhat slowly and cryptically, but I’m following, waiting, knowing something big is coming. Knowing that whatever big happens is going to be bad, and I’m not looking forward to it. It’s going to be bad, and it’s going to involve Yuki, Kaname, and Zero, and probably Sara. I’m not going to like it, I’m sure.

I still have quite a few books to catch up in this series, but I hope to soon.

The rating and review are conclusion for all of the volumes. Except for the synopsis.

Okay..... I AM SUPER DUPER ANNOYED. True, it's not that bad but the way this story end? Gosh, I cannot. Let's just say I'm not really satisfied with how it ends okay? I don't know how to say it. I didn't enjoy Twilight last time. I didn't really enjoy Vampire Knight too. Maybe vampire story is not really for me.

Hm, talking about the characters in this story. I could say Cross Yuki, the heroin, is a strong character in this story. Kiryu Zero, who is her companion, seems pessimist. The opposite of Yuki which makes them good together. I am not saying it is too bad that you won't enjoy it as this story is categorized hot among other manga.

But as for me personally, it's rather average and the way it ends just annoyed me. However, I'm satisfied that Kuran Kaname is handsome. :P

Synopsis for volume 12:
Kiryu Zero and Kuran Yuki finally meet each other back after one year since that incident. However, Kiryu Zero attends the ball as vampire hunter and Kuran Yuki goes as guest of the ball. Will things get better between them?

SPOILER

Same old, same old, as per my previous reviews. Lovely art, okay characters, awesome concept, lousy execution and story.

The author clearly writes on her knee, adding things to the world build and story as she goes along, often contradicting, padding or outright making no sense of the story.

I love (LOVE) how Purebloods get and lose powers according to how convenient it's for the story -- ah, Sara. For the villain that should replace Rido and be a threat to Yuki, you are remarkably stupid, predictable and just really bad at using your powers.

I can see how the periodical nature of this book can make it hard to notice until you do (as I did) and try to read it all at once.

*whimpers* This series is not moving fast enough for me. I need the next volume asap! I can't wait another two months! Are you people CRAZY?!

I love Kaname so much and if it turns out he's not who he says he is, I will fly to Japan, learn how to curse in Japanese and track down Matsuri Hino. I'll do it.

Mostly I just liked the bits with Kaien Cross in them. He's a very likable character. Zero's OK. I'm not in love with the Kaname that came about after Yuki (never loved Yuki, and she's even worse now). Kaname treats Yuki like a little kid, and Yuki acts like one. As far as romantic relationships go, this is very unappealing to read about.

This series is kind of waning on me. I simply want to finish it, but it feels like it's going on and on forever. I think that this volume was more interesting than the last few, but it just doesn't draw me in the same way the first few did (until like volume 8 or so). Many of these volumes could be excluded and it wouldn't really affect the story all that much.
Also, I REALLY want to forget the plotpoint of Yuki and Kaname being RELATED AND ROMANTICALLY INVOLVED. So please please please stop including scenes wehre people call Yuki "Sister" (aka Kaname's sister).
My stomach aggressively flips and my heart rate increases when I witness this.
PLEASE JUST STOP.
