The magic ingredient behind the New York Times best-selling Flat Belly Diet!—monounsaturated fatty acids (or MUFAs)—may not only target stubborn belly fat, but may also help treat the underlying cause of type 2 diabetes: insulin resistance. The 5-week program includes a sensible diabetes-friendly diet that teaches you how to incorporate pasta, chocolate, and other “forbidden” foods—along with a MUFA at every meal—into over 150 sumptuous, satisfying dishes.
Flat Belly Diet! Diabetes also includes a gentle walking-based exercise plan, stress reduction exercises, advice on how to work with one’s doctor and diabetes management team, and a journal to help track blood sugar. In just 5 weeks, 11 men and women who tried the plan lost as much as 12 pounds, improved their A1c levels, and lowered their cholesterol and blood pressure levels.
This book taught me a lot about about myself, visceral fat, and more about triglycerides. The link to diabetes is our belly visceral fats, which is usually caused by not enough exercise and too much sugar. And then, my doctor had warned me about triglycerides in my body which is directly linked to those damned donuts I was eating and heartattacks. I stopped the donuts about 2 months ago, but man do I wish there was a diabetic option!
There's also 160 great healthy diabetic recipes for all kinds of foods, including yummy desserts, and a bunch of exercizes!
I enjoyed the meal plans in this. I don’t have diabetes but the meal plan is balanced and healthy. I gave the book away but still think about the recipes.
This is a diet/diabetes book I actually read from cover to cover, including the recipes. Good sound advice on how to control your diabetes without feeling deprived and emphasizes the importance of good nutritional foods, balanced meals, and EXERCISE!
