• Breast milk provides the perfect concoction of nutrients to help protect your baby against infection, asthma, and many other conditions (it also burns 500 calories a day to help you lose that baby weight!). But if you aren’t able to breastfeed, we have plenty of tips on exactly what and how much to feed your baby to make sure that he or she is getting the best possible diet from day one.
• Get the truth about high fevers and learn the most accurate way to take a temperature (it’s not what you think!). You’ll also get insider tricks for handling everything from earaches to febrile seizures.
• Whether your child is allergic to gluten or peanut butter, there are two dominant theories about why more kids have allergies today than ever before. Raising Your Child explains them and tells you unique ways to prevent and treat allergies in your child.
Our goal is for Raising Your Child to be the map that you need to safely navigate the waters of your baby’s life from day one to day 2,190, and in it we will give you all the tools you need to steer the best possible course.
I read this while dealing with my daughter catching some sort of virus when she was three months old that led to a series of issues up through five months and there were a number of topics it covered that were very useful at the time. Some of the sections I wish I had read before I had her so that I wouldn’t have freaked out so much as I encountered new bumps in the road of parenthood. It didn’t cover stridors which would have been VERY helpful but that’s a bit uncommon...I can’t expect it cover everything. This book does a great job of providing good detail without feeling like you’re wading through an encyclopedia. They actually mention a few other books that are similar in format that I wouldn’t mind picking up. I’m thinking the pregnancy one would have been a good one to have read when I was expecting. I don’t have my husband read very many parenting books because he gets fixated on milestones and definitives but I think I might actually have him listen to this.
Some of this was a little late for me, since my son is already three years old. However, this was an informative read. I would say the most valuable part of this book is ideas for how to instill positive habits, as well as statistics backing up the validity of limiting television and reading to children and getting them to eat healthy. There isn't a lot of material here that parents haven't already been told, but the method of presentation is what sets it apart.
I wish I could have read this a few years ago when I was pregnant. It is wonderfully informative and I trust Dr. Oz. There is a lot covered in the book but the doctors explain everything very well with just enough detail. I will be purchasing this book for everyone I know that is pregnant or has a small child. I will read other "You" books as well.
How can you go wrong with Dr. Oz? It's an informative book that also features a lot of whimsical illustrations--makes you think of the Dangerous Book for Girls/Boys series. I read this book when my toddler is already 2 so a lot of the information I already knew, but for those just grasping the reality of parenthood, it's definitely a good addition to your book collection.
For such a thick book, I expected it to be packed with more information. Don't get me wrong, it was well written and laid out inside. I think I've read so many parenting books that I was looking for the holy grail of information that I haven't seen yet. My expectations were not on target, nor should they have been. A great book as a gift to a mom or soon to be mom.
This book tries to be both an interesting read and a good reference book and manages instead to fail at both. I'd skip it. It's not un-interesting or un-informative, it's just that there are plenty of better books out there.
buku manual lengkap untuk membesarkan/mengasuh anak di era modern, mulai dari panduan makan, pola asuh, pola aktivitas, pola pikir, all about allergic, common diseases, sampai resep makanan bergizi ada disini. recommended buat yg mau dan sudah punya anak
Lots of helpful info in here but reads more like a reference book. Not a great choice for an audio book. Think I'll borrow the actual book to refer to when the baby is born. I especially liked the last few sections on discipline and ADHD.
Interesting at times, common sense at others, useful occasionally. Mostly skewed towards the younger end of the spectrum, as many of the portions for toddlers seemed abbreviated. A good supplement for a new parent, although by no means the only resource I needed or would expect others to want.
For some reason his books aren't as great as I expect them to be. This was ok and I did get some good information from it but I have others that are better when it comes to raising my child.
It is an informative reference to have on hand with little ones at home. I did read it from front to back, however, it will need to be picked up time and again as the need arises.
