June Thomson, a former teacher, has published 24 crime novels, 18 of which feature Detective Chief Inspector Jack Finch and his sergeant, Tom Boyce. She has also written six short story collections of Sherlock Holmes pastiches. Her books have been translated into many languages. She lives in St Albans in Hertfordshire.

Picked it up because of the cover and because of my interest in the story of Lilith, as well as any narrative that centers an artist which this did. The writing was good, pretty fast paced, and the characters were very 3 dimensional. I’m not much of a mystery or crime fan, so obviously the book is not at fault for being what it is. I think the ending was very rushed, everything became revealed at the end with only around 10 pages left, and although it wrapped up well enough, the revelation at the end of the book, in my opinion, would be an infinitely better story to tell. Overall, not much to say about this one. It was good but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it.

I like June Thomson’s books because she is great at creating a true picture of a person. I always think I know some of the people in her books in real life

A very well written novel. The Author knows the act of explaining scenes, describing situations including environment as well as defining characters. This novel has a kind of a twist that I did not find in other fictions with regards to 'who done it'
