A fantastic resource for understanding pornography addiction and reshaping life into a life without pornography and the shame and dysfunction it brings. I highly recommend this book.

There was a lot of good stuff in there to underline, but one of my favorite lines was this, from Stephen Arterburn in the forward:

"…this is not about merely quitting sin. It never has been. It's about building a new life…"

Craig Gross of Xxxchurch, the guy who regularly debates pornstar Ron Jeremy and evangelizes at pornstar conventions, has written the magnum opus on porn addiction. This is a singularly focused book on the addiction without any mention of morality, the industry, or what the Bible may or may not say about it. It's a razor sharp work. It's designed to get you free.

I was certain the book would moralize porn addiction into an argument. But no: the book assumes you're already ruined by it, and that's a good assumption. It dives right into the physiological and psychological aspects of the problem. There is not a page wasted on arguing why it's necessary, where Craig Gross has already written elsewhere. The methods, both physical and spiritual, are covered in great detail.

The book is absolutely Christ-centered. Some may accuse it of legalism, but I say that's rubbish. We need methods. Effort is NOT legalism. We need the Holy Spirit AND the wisdom of victorious planning. One cannot work without the other. And Craig emphasizes that porn is not the problem, but really it's our seeking of life purpose that frees us.

If there is any weakness in the book, I would say it's written for middle-aged men who have access to accountability partners and a church and support groups. Many teens and elders may not have the luxury of such support nor be able to simply buy blocking software. I wish at least a portion had spoke to a wider demographic. I hope Craig considers this.

Bottom line, a needed work for the struggling that want a way out.

This is an amazing book which leads men through the necessary journey of becoming sexually pure. They bring out so many good things within it like testimonies, psychoanalysis, and that our faith is the most powerful tool in overcoming sexual addictions. I was challenged with reading this book and enjoyed spending time going through it and learning from what it had to teach. I would recommend it to most guys who are probably 17, 18 and older. Even though it is geared towards slightly older men, it is still a challenging read.

"Of all the books on sexual purity I've read, I feel that Pure Eyes does the best job of helping guys who are struggling in this area. The book focusing very clearly on exact steps to take to overcome sexual addiction. (It focuses specifically on pornography, though I believe all the principles would apply to sexual addiction in general.)" Click here to continue reading my review.

Read this book with the group of guys I am mentoring. Great reminder about how pornography can wreck your life. Temptation is all around us, and it is a battle to stay pure, but it is worth the fight. The book had some great insights into the brain science behind addictions like pornography. If you struggle in this area or know someone who does it is a very helpful book.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who struggles with sexual addiction, lust or whatever you call it. The authors offer practical suggestions to help you overcome this struggle and even dives into the scientific reasons behind addiction. They also talk about the spiritual ramifications of the addiction on your soul. Again, I highly recommend it because it has helped me.

Got this when it was free for a day, several months ago. Its a helpful resource to have on hand for counseling. I give it a three because there's a little too much mixing of psychology and Scripture for my tastes.

I am currently taking a counselling class (online) and have recently finished reading two books class. They both deal with sexual addictions. This book is an excellent guide to those who find themselves trapped in some type of sexual addiction.

The idea that pornography use is related to how we view our God-given purpose was a new thought. But it makes sense. If we are to remove sexual sin from every part of our lives, no matter what form it takes, we must replace it with something. This is a book that requires multiple readings for
every man. I like this book even more than "Every Man's Battle."

A book that addresses the topic of pornographic addiction and how support groups can help in the recovery. A book that both gives medical explantations of what happens when you watch porn and a christian way of how to get out of the addiction.

One of the better books on the subject of the addiction of pornography I've read. It could very much help those understand their addiction and frustration of being unable to quit.
