I rated this book a three stars because there is good content in it, but there are mistakes in terms of the scripture used and the repetitive style of writing.

In the beginning of the book, the author misinterpreted the scriptures provided such as Ezekiel 27:4 where she claimed that it was about the devil being a beautiful creature when in fact it was the prophecy of God against Tyre; or Deuteronomy 32:30 where she said “two people joined have the ability to put ten thousand to flight” from page 39 (from the iBook version) when in fact it is written, “How could one man chase a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the Lord had given them up?” These two are the ones that stand out in terms of using the scripture inaccurately. I understand that there can be various ways to interpret the bible but these two were just used incorrectly.

There was also a careless editing with where two lengthy paragraphs were repeated next to each other (pages 63-64 from the iBook version). The author also used a lot of dictionary definition, which would be fine for some, but to me it seemed like she was trying to fill up spaces.

In terms of the content, I do admire her bravery in being open about her past life; and I found that her and other women’s testimonies in relation to their sexual struggles are something I can resonate as theirs are also similar to mine. The last chapter provides a practical way to move forward.

All in all, a fresh approach towards addressing sexual purity issues, but there is some editing that needs to be worked on, in particular the use of scriptures.

It offers a different perspective from other authors in this topic because she considered herself to be promiscuous and had abortions. It’s more practical hearing it from some that had premarital sex and shared her testimony of reaping the consequences. I liked the blogs she used at beginning of chapter Vagina Monologue was my favorite. It also offered a modern view on sexual impurity like reading erotica books is considered porn. The Holy Spirit will convict anyone struggling with sexual purity. I also liked how she wrapped it up by encouraging to forgive self for past sexual sins and make peace with past in addition to the people associated with it

Surreal and insightful

I wish I would had read this book way way sooner. I love how the author is able to use the Bible as a reference as well as make connections to her personal life and situations. This book is an eye opener as well as informative and insightful. I recommend this book to young teens to remind the importance of staying pure til marriage. I also recommend this book to al believers of Christ of all ages. Everyone can gain from reading this book.

This book had the ability to change lives. I really don't know why it isn't more popular/well-known, but I have a feeling it will be eventually. This book, I feel, has and will change the course of my life and opened up new purpose and hope for me. It has helped me go from a helpless person to a person of conviction. I love Shellie Warren!
