I've written longer critiques about this series fore and aft (The First Light Chronicals and Framework) so, I'll not post yet another long review to lavish the same praise all over again. Let's just say, "I really enjoyed reading this series!" It's fun and by the time you get into "Fragments" you'll have already seen the depth and vastness of the tangled plot. You'll already have your favorite characters (I like Stephanie and Mihn Chu) and you'll already have either come to love the anachronistic wonks and willies (or hate them).

This is where the lead role shifts off of Jake and more onto the shoulders of Ayan. New characters come start coming into their own and we get a hint of "why" ..."why!" all this is going on, in the way that it is.

Good book, if you've come this far, keep reading! I loved it, still do.

The Spinward Fringe books have never been mistakable for high literature. The writing and editing was often marginal, but the stories were fun and interesting and I fell in love with the characters early on. That kept bringing me back.

The formula seems to be changing, though, and it's getting harder to pick up the next entry. The cliff hanger at the end of this book may bring me back to finish this trilogy but after that I'll definitely need a break.

The action sequences are overly long and relentless and character development seems to have ground to a halt. Add to that some rather egregious deus ex machina plot twists and the whole thing is just getting harder to swallow with each new book.

A good story, but the writing is at about a 4th grade spelling and grammar level. Repeated usage of "head to tow" when "head to toe" was meant. This is only one example of many such other errors. Misuse of due for do is another example. Using her for she as in "Laura and her". Maybe I am just being captious, but this bothers me greatly.

The constant no win space opera is getting old. Despite that I must see what happens next. More battle and introspection. This time the ending does not come at a firm turning point, though it could have. Definitely not satisfied. More looses ends than ever.

Part of a long series. Starting to lose interest, but I am curious how the author will wrap things up so I'll probably keep reading.

Another awesome installment of the Spinward Fringe series. This one will keep you on the edge of your seat. The action is relentless, the characters are charged with emotion, and this is probably one of the best in the series to this point. Clean of nearly all profanity, and all sex, highly recommended as a great sci-fi read.

This is without a doubt the best so far in the series. This book is so full of high and lows -- it is like the Empire Strikes Back in terms of action and emotional highs and lows.

I can't wait for seven. Thankfully, it is in production.

Amazing.

One of my favorite series. These books are full of action, suspense, with a fast paced story line. The characters are so amazing. They will stay in my heart forever. I can't say enough about how wonderful the writing and the story are.

Absolutely amazing. I can't rate the Spinward Fringe series highly enough. This whole book was one giant fight. Boarding actions fought room to room and deck to deck with everything that you could possibly think of. Power armor, loader suits, cloak suits, plasma weapons, knives, swords, garrotes, and fists.

Lalonde knows how to write in such a way as to leave cliffhangers throughout the book, not just at the end of the book. You find yourself at the end of a chapter wanting to not put the book down and not go to bed because of it.

There are really few books that I care enough about anymore to pay money for what with the library, the free books on the Nook every Friday, and the tons of free books on there in general, but this series is one of them. I've slowly worked my way through most of what Lalonde has written and I'm sure that I'll catch up to him soon. No regrets so far.

This series is priced right as well, most of the ebooks are only $2.99 which is fantastic. More than that and you aren't going to get the readers that you want with all the free stuff available. I recommend this series to every fan of science fiction out there no matter what particular flavor you enjoy. Spinward Fringe could be the best SyFy series published in the 2000's to date.

The series that Lalonde started just keeps getting better and better. His books are not short on the action, and although Hard Syfy readers will not be getting their fix with these books, he does put in bits and pieces of good hard sysy elements into the story to keep it at least relatively believable.

Everyone of these books is a page turner and absolutely full of action, and you never know where the books are going to take you and why. For a start up author like Lalonde, he has done an incredible job of keeping the ball rolling with these novels.

Soap operas on TV are known for their slow pace - watch your favorite once a month and you can pretty much catch up with everything that has happened. Don't get the idea that Randy's Spinward Fringe space opera is that way - Broadcast 6 in particular runs at breakneck speeds! When you pick it up, be prepared to stick with it until the end - it will arrive sooner than you anticipated!

First sentences, "these lads clear of their posts! I want this section sealed off in five minutes!” Gunnery Chief Frost ordered over his proximity radio. The gunnery deck of the Triton was a disaster."

I'm getting disappointed with this series. The fighting on board ship was great, but other little things are beginning to overshadow this series enough that I just don't want to read any more. Will do a more detailed review later, but I let me say that I don't like the way this is going.

A good book with lots of wham-bang action but a friend of mine is correct that the author is losing focus. There are a lot of story lines running and they all seem worthy of a book series in and of themselves.

This series isn't great literature but it's fun. It has good action scenes and the writing has improved. This is the next to last book and I am hoping the last book wraps up all the loose ends.

I was very happy to see that the editing has drastically improved--finally.

Another great addition to an already bulging story. Plenty of characters with well throughout backgrounds, voices and personalities. Its the characters that make this series fantastic to read and easy to pick up at a moments notice.

This was a good book that brought back the storytelling that was present in the original book. Some cleaver character developments kept the story interesting. Well established characters were well written and developed.

Fast-paced, non-stop action. The unexpected twists and turns in the entire Spinward Fringe series is great.

Complex personalities. You can never be sure if any of the characters are the same people from one chapter to another. Keep reading. All will be made clear. Maybe. Try it, you'll like it.
