This was the second (Fall 1987) issue of New Destinies, Baen's re-boot of his series of paperback magazines Destinies that he edited while working for Ace, this time under his eponymous publishing imprint. It's a bit shorter than the earlier incarnation, but includes many of the same authors, a pleasing mix of fiction and non-fiction, and the same philosophies and attitudes. I remember particularly enjoying the pieces by Gregory Benford, Steven Gould, and Charles Sheffield. Gary Ruddell's cover is interesting because it sure looks a lot like Luke Skywalker revisited that famous bar...
