A light, fun read, would make a great inclusion in a gift basket on the appropriate occasion.

"Kay Rutherford has taken daily child rearing events and showed them in uniquely Alaskan living situations. Her vignettes remind us that conveniences so often taken for granted are, in fact, luxuries in other geographic settings. I had a great time reading and laughing over everyday occurrences in this young family's adventure." (William R. Pfisterer, author of Kaiiroondak: Behind the Willows, the Alaskan book depicting the oral history of the life and terms of Richard Marten)

A really engaging story and a great armchair adventure for those of us who wonder about the road not taken. I read this some time ago but the images of Kay and her family and their home in Alaska are fresh in my mind because of the crisp writing.
