The high-tech superhero Mild mannered Walter Nebicher, computer wizard for the Los Angeles Police Department, has a side to him that few suspect. No, he's not superman in disguise, but he's created a superbeing: Automan.

Automan is a walking, talking extension of Walter's computer. He has all kinds of power. He can think and move at superspeeds. He can appear out of thin air. Bullets can't hurt him. He even glows in the dark. But when it comes to human behaviour, he's got a lot to learn...

Together, Walter and Automan are going to shake up the city - and the Police Department.

I found this while unpacking some of my husband's books. I never watched Automan, Manimal was more my thing. But now I'm a little sad of that. My 12-year-old self would probably have eaten it up.

Man this book is terrible. It scores high for nostalgia. I love the early 80s view of computing. But as it's an early 80s property marketed for teen aged nerd boys, the casual sexism is wicked high.
