God Wants You Well: What the Bible Really Says About Walking in Divine Healing

Rate this book
Christ paid for the healing of our body as completely as He paid for the forgiveness of our sins. Many people find it difficult to believe that God wants them well. They may be suffering personally or perhaps watching a loved one endure sickness and pain. In either case, they become discouraged after their prayers seemingly go unanswered. They then conclude that God must be allowing this to happen, or worse, that He has caused it. Both are wrong and both bring into question the goodness of God. In this book, Andrew shares the truth of what God’s unconditional love and grace has already provided. Healing is a big part of that provision. He answers many common questions including those about Paul’s thorn in the flesh, the sovereignty of God and more. If you or someone you know is in need of healing, this book is for you.

This is the first book written by Andrew Wommack that I have read. He is gifted in writing as he is in preaching. What a great way to start the New Year. I struggle with 2 auto-immune illnesses, 2 yrs. ago God revealed to my doctor during a hypo-parathyroid surgery that there was multiple cancer in my Thyroid on the other side of my throat. It was found early and was successfully removed 2 years ago. Praise God. Andrew finds things that I never see on my own but are so basic that it makes sense.

I. Healing is part of Christ's Atonement
A. If Christ suffered and took stripes on His back and died on the cross to purchase our physical healing, then we ought to think enough of it to receive it.
B. It honors Him to promote healing.
C. Everywhere Jesus went, he healed people.

II. Salvation means forgiveness of sins, healing of the body, deliverance and financial prosperity.
A. Scripture on healing
1. Psalm 103:1-3. Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits; who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healed all thy diseases.
2. Isaiah 53:4. When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils; and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick; That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

III. Misinterpretations
A. God is the author of healing, not illness.
B. People don't see healing because they aren't committed to it.
C. God didn't create mankind to die. Death was something man chose. Our bodies are capable of healing and repairing itself.

IV. Our responsibility
A. God gave us a choice. We have free will to choose what we want.
B. We fail to receive.
a. Operate in faith -- God instructs us through His Word
-- Unbelief: we are operating in unbelief, three types:
* ignorance - lack of knowledge. Overcome - tell people the truth through God's Word
* wrong doctrine - miracles are not for us today - not true, not what the Word of God says. Overcome- counter the wrong doctrine & teach them the truth
* natural unbelief - trust your 5 senses, need to develop a 6th sense = faith. Overcome- through fasting & prayer. Starve your unbelief.
-- don't need huge faith or pure faith, just faith the size of a mustard seed ( smallest seed). Abraham & Sarah believed.
b. Use our God given authority; Exercise His power; Make it manifest
C. Three reasons why people get sick: sin, attack of enemy and natural events
D. God has provided his healing power for everyone. Now flip the switch to turn it on.
a. Believe, reach out in faith. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God.
b. Speak your faith. Words are powerful. God spoke the world into existence. Speak God's words.
c. Speak to your disease directly. I command you out of my body in the name of Jesus. Take authority. Also pray for healing in you body.
d. You must speak out loud.
E. Act on you faith --
a. Get up and do;
b. Jeremiah 29:13. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. You need a clean heart, one that is free from unforgiveness and bitterness.
c. Receive the revelation and walk in it

Amazing book! I loved how he talked about Paul's thorn in the flesh, and how many people think that Paul had long term eye problem. He really answered some questions that I had forgot I had! So many times messages confuse you and don't understand a verse or what-not. Wommack is definitely an awesome teacher!

Although for chapter 18, "Act on your Faith," I believe that this idea that we need to have corresponding actions after our faith or before is a idea that brings about confusion. This is from James and you can view my whole explanation in the link below.

I have IBS, Arthritis and Fibromyalgia. I believe in the healing power of God and I believe that one day it will come. The Bible says, by Jesus stripes we WERE healed. Already healed, just wanting for it to completely manifest. God does not want us poor and sick. Sickness came in when Satan took over. It is not from God. As Christians, if we have any sickness or disease, we should cast it every day and claim healing! What testimonies of God's power, healing can bring! Mine will come one day! Praise the Lord! This book was really good!

When you are a Christian and you have health problems that are somewhat frightening in a worldly sense, an opportunity opens up to explore the depth of your faith and belief in the power of healing. I am in that situation. Andrew Wommack's insights, whilst challenged by some, have helped me enormously in approaching my predicament and prayerfully seeking relief.

His style is entirely bible-based and his language is easy. The book is relatively brief but has spiritual insight and great personal guidance.

For Christians or aspiring or seeking people I commend this book.

This book gave me a lot of new insignts into spiritual healing that I had not known before. A lot of the key points are repeated over and over and over. While I can understand why this may have been done it does have a tendency to be irritating and redundant for normal reading. However, when you are reading to learn something it seems to work.

I have read, studied and taught on healing myself, but Andrew Wommack has a way of saying things that make this subject sound brand new! I read it for my own healing, and I have to say, I have a whole new faith for healing. Andrew assures us that we have ALREADY RECEIVED our healing by God’s grace and unconditional love. If you need healing, read this book!

It's true that not everyone receives healing, but that doesn't mean it's because God doesn't want them to be healed.

Not everyone receives salvation, but it's very obvious that God wants everyone to be saved.

About the Author
Andrew Wommack is the Founder of Charis Bible College and is a Charismatic Evangelist. His book/messages speak on Grace, healing and faith.

How I started reading the book
I had heard about Andrew and his teaching on healing but didn't dwell much on it since I never felt a need for his teachings.
However, since I was unwell and also a Christian, I figured I needed to brush up on my theology. So I started reading the book to understand the Bible's take on healing.

NOTE
Unlike my other book reviews, this one's worth would depend more on the efficacy of its words rather than the writing style or penmanship displayed.

About the book
Andrew in his Book, addresses questions like- Does God cause sickness, why are people still sick, why aren't all who are prayed upon restored?

He uses the passage from Mark 5:25-34, the woman with the issue of blood to illustrate various principles about healing.

PS- I do admit, to a non-christian these things might sound like shams or snake oil. But the Word of God is living and active, so you could read the Bible for yourself, you can "Come and See."

Tapping into the power source
Andrews talks about how Jesus died, not only for our sins but also for our infirmities. So we could be forgiven and restored bodily and spiritually.

You could call the power company and wait all day for them to send someone to your house to flip the light switch, but they aren't going to do it.
You could then say, "well, the electricity doesn't work."
No, it works just fine. You just don't know how to turn it on.

He asks us to reconceptualize the way we pray, Speaking to our problem, rather than speaking to Him about our problem. God's will for us is to be well, he's already given us authority. We merely need to exercise that authority in Faith.

He shared an example of a man with his 12-year-old daughter in a vegetative state. With a father who accepted his fate that God made her like that. Here's a dialogue between them.
"What kind of a father are you, anyway? What kind of father wants his daughter to be a quadriplegic, a vegetable, bound to a wheelchair all her life?
She'll never get to play, get married, or have any other joys in life. What kind of a man are you?"
- "I would do anything to help my daughter get well...If I could take her place, and become like her so that she could be normal, I would do it. I'd do anything to get her healed."

"And you think God- who has all power- loves your daughter less than you do."

In that manner, the book is filled with scripture verses highlighting how Jesus healed all those who came to him and never abandoned anyone who approached him. He went out of his way to heal people, which speaks about the Father's heart for his children.

Overall
I'd give this book 3 stars, I'll have to test out the principles in the book before I can bump that rating.

In any case, cheers and I'll catch y'all later.

Ta książka to jakiś jeden wielki żart.

There is so much food for thought in this book. Andrew Womack is passionate about healing, and he wants us to be passionate too. In his enthusiasm I some times felt that I was being yelled at!! But his theology seems sound.
I particularly enjoyed the scripture in the back where he writes out the 17 times Jesus healed “all” who came to Him. And the 47 times Jesus healed one person in particular. It certainly is faith building.
At the moment my husband is dealing with many symptoms of RA. This book is a great read for that. I just finished it. My husband just started!!

Andrew Wommack puts things into simple and perspective for the layman to understand.
There are spiritual laws that govern our success in our spiritual growth. Understanding the spiritual laws is necessary to put into practice the process of moving in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Sometimes there is repetition in Wommack's books, but that is to 'pound home' a point and one that one will focus upon.

I am moving on to the next book of Wommack,"You've Already Got This!"

The plain truth rarely spoken

Andrew Wommack understands something that most of the church today doesn’t: that the Lord has already done his part for our healing. The remaining part is for us to receive the healing. This book will change the way you view sickness and death. Learning how to receive the healing is the challenge. The key seems to be with actually believing God’s promises.

I find Andrew's books so easy to read as his language is simple and conversational.
Don't be fooled by that though: the message is profound!
He weaves his amazing life stories around the message that God wants us well more than we want to be well and he backs every statement up with scripture. I have read this book three times so far and I know that I will be going back to revisit it again. It is a wonderful manual for receiving our healing.

Five star book. God has done his part, but if you don't believe it, you likely won't receive it. This book is an incredible tool to renew the mind and gain God's true heart toward us and his attitude toward our physical bodies. Andrew Wommack is a great teacher and everything I've read by him has been absolutely anointed.

Our healing has already been accomplished! We just need to learn how to access it!

I am a Chiropractic physician and have been for 40 years. I have been a Christian since I was 12. I was taught that miracles ceased when we received the word of God but as I worked with the bodies healing energy, I knew that was a devil’s lie. I loved the teachings that the spiritual world has laws, (it does), I agreed that the healing energy is already here and we have to access it with our mouth, and our intent and that we command in Jesus’s authority not ask for a healing that has already been done.
