After I saw the title of this book in our church library, I brought it home to read thinking it would be encouraging. I found Dr. Mehl's stories to be humorous, uplifting, and also at times, sad. He used several examples of what were perceived to be "dead ends" from scripture and from his own personal experiences to illustrate how those rough times would bring increased dependency on Christ that ultimately lead to spiritual growth in an individual. I could relate well to many of his stories and did enjoy this read.

Absolutely loved this book. Though it's older, it doesn't feel dated and his insights are still relevant for today's tougher moments. A great book to keep on a shelf and pull out to read again every couple of years.
