This is a straight passage to intimacy without prelude and that's so much the author's style but it never fails to shock me.
Eroticism is a major theme here but on a minor level are aspects of abuse.
On the whole, an enjoyable read but it really was more enjoyed in my privacy as against earlier attempts at reading in public.

I've started this book many times but end up never continuing. The book is hot and all but there's something about the characters that I just don't like. It's time to completely give up on it.

In this book, two individual women each make an impressive mark on those around them and sometimes a bit beyond. They are towering personalities turning heads and having folks stop talking to just stare. I was initially bowled over by both of them. However, they each have hidden pain and buried heart-breaking memories that periodically overwhelm them. At a moment when they are both at the top of their game, they are completely taken with the other. Oh, this is going to be fun!

Chan, Chandler L. Brogan, loves speed. In fact, she has incorporated this love into moments of bliss and clarity. Naturally, she adores her motorcycle. Chan and her brother Hank, a successful motocross rider, really enjoy themselves when they bike together. I didn’t find out until I was a third of way into book what Chandler’s actual profession was. That was a kick in the pants and really added an astounding and critical element to the story. I adored Chan!

Sarah Monroe, a patrol officer, meets Chan and Hank initially in a professional capacity. I laughed my pants off. Sarah cuts a dramatic figure as she interrogates the siblings. This is the start of an incredibly intriguing interaction and very possibly the obsession by Chan with Sarah and Sarah with Chan. Sarah was simply extraordinary!

All the dark secrets and painful memories get revealed and play critical parts in Chandler and Sarah’s lives. This was amazingly intricate, painful, and yet exquisite. I was completely riveted and once again I could not put this book down. Oh my goodness, can this possibly be another Bold Strokes Books winner? Yup! For, me, it was also a delightful introduction to Ronica Black. This is sometimes gut-wrenching, but there are orgasmic highs and rich interactions with family and friends. Please do not miss this treasure!

2 broken souls finding healing in each other

“It had only teased her, letting her know what she had been missing all along. It had shown her and then disappeared, vanishing into the darkness that was her past.”

“She had found it and felt it, and just when she thought she could fly with the weightlessness it brought with it, it ended.”

“As exposed as Chandler made her feel, she also made her feel alive and willing to do anything to feel that way with her again.”

“She had dreamt of this moment from the time she was old enough to understand her feelings. Now it was happening, and it was more overwhelming than she could’ve ever imagined.”

“Maybe she could fill that empty space with light and warmth. Maybe she could be safe with another person at last.”

An intriguing book about two women, shaped & scarred by life's unfairness mercilessly since birth, who both are working on building a romantic relationship together, finding, nurturing & sustaining love in/for each other that bestows peace, joy & safety to heal the wounds & override the damages & degradations from their pasts.

My bone to pick is the pretty significant missing pieces of this story—Why & when do Chandler & Sarah feel so deeply intense that they so eagerly & easily surrender their life-long self-defenses & survival tactics? & why & how is it so effortless for them to erase the reactions, complications, nervousness or anxiety dysfunction & fear?

Regardless, this was an entertaining, well-written story with intriguing & likeable characters, some hot scenes & an interesting storyline I very much enjoyed & recommend.

This is the second book i've read of this author, and both were 5 stars on the hot and steamy front. What surprised me about this book was how it incorporated some serious issues that our protagonists were dealing with. At first, as both Chan and Sarah reveal their emotional scars to the reader (through flashbacks) it seemed like it was a forced, overdone attempt to give depth to the characters. By the end it was all fleshed out nicely and actually did give the characters depth, overdone or not.

Despite the fact that both characters started out hard and controlling, there really wasn't much of a struggle for dominance like others say. One of the women gave up her dominance right away, that was a slight disappointment. Her character (i'm not going to spoil it by saying which one) was the coolest character of the book, in my opinion. She was a real bad ass, and to see her submit completely so quickly without even much internal struggle over it, kind of spoiled the credibility of it for me. So basically, what started off as 2 stone butches, turns into a passionate submissive helping the other woman deal with her psychological problems that prevent her from allowing herself to be loved.

I did enjoy the book though, very much. The writing style was smooth and easy to read and i breezed through it quickly. I will probably read this book again and will also be looking into more books by the author.

A quick read from the library. Police officer Sarah Monroe needs to be in control at all times. She pulls over Dr. Chandler Brogan for speeding on her motorcycle. They meet again later at a club. Both MCs have issues from their past that must be worked through for healing to begin. This include child molesting, parental neglect for one and loss of parents at a young age for the other. There is plenty of heat but it was a darker book than I was wanting. Also declarations of feelings felt abrupt considering their interactions.
