Lee Charvez is a witch in a family where all of the women are born with inherent gifts of power. She is a witch dreamer, she has the ability to walk in dreams and the subconscious and to work magic there. There is only one Charvez witch dreamer each generation and she's the strongest in generations.
She meets the man of her dreams, literally, when she bumps into Aidan Bell outside their apartment building in New Orleans. He's a three-hundred-year-old vampire with the face of a wicked angel, and he has no problem with claiming her as his own. As if that isn't miraculous enough there's another man, a powerful wizard, Alex Carter, who makes their partnership into a triad. Problem is, there's no time to sit back and enjoy her newfound loves because there's a demon out to destroy the source of her powers, and her entire family in the bargain.
Lauren Dane has been writing stories since she was able to use a pencil, and before that she used to tell them to people. Of course, she still talks nonstop, and through wonderful fate and good fortune, she’s now able to share what she writes with others. It’s a wonderful life!
The basics: Lauren is a mom, a partner, a best friend and a daughter. Living in the rainy but beautiful Pacific Northwest, she spends her late evenings writing like a fiend when she finally wrestles all of her kids to bed.
Well I finished Triad (Witches Knot, Book One) and really have a hard time writing the review. It was a good story and she carried it off pretty well except that the story was borderline literary porn in part, anytime they were not in danger they were about to have sex, having sex, or just finished having sex (get the picture). Add in the triad (yep, that's more than just the title) and you have a interesting story surrounded by a erotic 3 some (1 witch, 1 vampire, 1 wizard) . I will have to just give it 3 Stars because the POV changed erratically in places and you had to back up to figure who was talking/narrating . It WAS entertaining in spite of the sex (not because of it) and with a bit more writing skill could have been a better book but if you are in the mood for something paranormal that involves a lot of sex scenes , this IS the book :) I repeat the story actually is pretty good (why do I feel like I just told somebody I read Playboy for the articles).
I could not finish this book. I don't say that about many. I got about 25% through it and just put it down. The writing was terrible. The POV switches so often I don't know what's going on. The characters were flat and uninteresting. Nothing seems to effect these people. I did not feel that any of them had any emotions that I could relate to. Apparently Lee and Aidan are fated to be madly in love and as soon as they meet they are, but I couldn't tell.
Lee is apparently a natural prodigy that is super powerful and able to do whatever she wants through instinct. Who needs training? And what's with vampires that can shapeshift into werewolves too?
Anyway, I found myself rolling my eyes constantly and saying wtf? I can't believe this book has such a high rating!
Didn't like it They met and it was love at first sight. Couple of hours later they are in bed - and they exchange marriage vows Vampire style? eh? Even if you are a supernatural being, that's just plain stupid if you're not drunk and in Vegas.
The writing was a bit too simple. The attraction, tension, suspense, etc didnt really show in the writing - it was more like I'm telling you this happened and i'm the author so listen to what i say
A bit surprising, because i really did like Lauren Dane's Chase series. Maybe she does better at normal romance rather than the PNR kind.
While I enjoyed that Lee wasn't the typical timid, naive, virginal character, and her love interests didn't have the controlling, abusive vibe that seems to be popular in erotica these days; the clichéd plot, and hackneyed sex scenes didn't work for me. In places it seemed more silly than sexy, and reminds me why I usually avoid m/f erotica. I swear if I have to read about a woman’s “honey” one more time I’m going to lose it. The villains were of the mustache twirling variety, and as interesting as watching paint dry. Lee’s family was interesting, and her family’s spiritual practices were handled a bit better than some stories I’ve read. I liked their mythology, but the current conflict felt too overwrought, almost ridiculous, for me to care or connect. It wasn’t terrible just too melodramatic for my taste.
Is love at first sight that strong that you marry the person the same day that you meet them and become so possessive that you can not tolerate anyone else in their lives?
These characters just got worse and worse. I have never met a group of people that are more repressed, self-righteous, and condescending than the characters in this book.
The writing in this book was horrendous. I couldnt tell which POV was being used, it alternated between the hero and heroine without there being a clear switch. One paragraph would be teh heroine's POV and the next the hero's then back again. It felt like the author was telling me about these characters and not letting their actions speak for themselves. Recently I took a creative writing class and this was one of the big no-no's at the time I didn't understand what the teacher ment bc I hadnt read a book that did this, but now I know, and now I can recognize how insincere this form of prose can be. I had hoped that it would get better, so I began skipping passages, but overall the book was severley disappointing (even for romantica), I stopped reading it before I was 1/4 through.
Sexy witch, vampire, wizard tale where powers are more than they share. Loving menage with some light D/s elements set primarily in the atmosphere-rich New Orleans.
Didn't realize what the true subject matter was all about till I was way into it! LOL If you don't care for menage a trois M/F/M, don't read it! Other than that, I really liked it.
Lee is an extremely powerful witch dreamer, her ancestors formed a compact to keep New Orleans safe, but there is an evil in town determined to break the compact and bring evil into the world. This story moves very fast and while I liked the characters and the majority of the story I didn't feel the instant falling in love that happened. I definitely felt their love as the story progressed but the initial claims weren't believable. Aidan is a born vampire that moves to New Orleans after dreaming of his mate Lee and Alex is his best friend who is needed to help save the city.
I loved how the author handled the Triad, I just wish she'd slowed down the hyper speed of their relationship.
This story has a lot of erotic scenes but it also has a good story. It will be interesting to see where this series goes. While a good erotic scene can enhance a story there's a tipping point when it becomes a book of sex with a bit of filler story in between. I hope the author keeps the series more about the story.
I peaked at this story last night and I thought, no, perhaps something different. . . . But lo and behold I pulled it back up this morning. . . . . Wow! Pow! Boom! Talk about action! Battle against good and evil. Lee meets the love of her life. . .Aidan (Aidan is a vampire) Once they decide on a life together Aidan's friend who has been dream walking with Lee, Alex comes into their lives. . . . These three form a bond and thankfully this was not a mamby pamby story. The action. . . . you might duck. but the ending. . . you are guaranteed to go to the next book to find out what happens to Lee's sister . . Em
This author really needs a better editor or needs to go back to her day job. Laziness is evident throughout the book. The plot moves in fits and starts as does the dialogue. There is no character development. Just poorly written sex scenes thinly veiled as supernatural romance. A very disappointing read.
Too much literary porn and not enough story, i finished the book but am not encouraged to read another of Ms Dane’s books. A shame as I have enjoyed her books in the past.
This is my first Witch erotica book I've ever read, read it for a couple challenges. The world building of each of the beings~ a Witch, a Vampire and a Wizard, is done very well and the Eroticism was SUPER STEAMY! I had not read a supernatural erotica book before and there were some words I looked up. My review has mild plot spoilers.
Amelia Charvez is a human-Witch with very special strong powers, and comes from a long line of Witches in New Orleans whose task it is to uphold a pact with other metaphysical beings and conflicts that keeps everyone safe and living in peace. One day she meets a tall handsome curly-blonde haired hunk of fallen angel who is actually a 300 y.o. Vampire named Aiden Bell. They are meant to be together, and soon they make out and introduce each other to their families; his mother and her grandmother know that Aiden and Amelia (aka "Lee" for short, which was confusing) are metaphysical life partners and they give their blessing~ then Aiden and Lee have sex and Lee gets so inspired she incants something which is a Vampire marriage vow! Aiden tells her (they have only known each other one day) that he loves her and always will and has never loved anyone as much as her and that he wants to be with her forever and be married to her in Vampire life, not just the next 60 years or so. He bites her and feeds and then she bites him and then she starts the slow and gradual conversion process to become a Vampire. Each of their special strengths and life is explained and the details are all spelled out.
Aiden is 300 years old and has loved before, but never as intensely or passionately as he loves Lee, and he is very, very wealthy~ that's what happens when ones investments accrue for hundreds of years and when you have some special powers! Vampires in this book can survive in daylight but their powers are significantly weakened, they need blood but not much, they can eat food, etcetera etcetera. The author did a good job describing each of these main character's lives.
In the meantime, there is an evil Wizard/Demon who wants Amelia to be his wife so he can break the Pact and wreak havoc on humans and unleash all kinds of evil powers.
On the second day Amelia has a waking dream with a dark handsome man in it and sees Aiden in the dream there too; just watching. This dark haired man is Alex Carter, a powerful Wizard from Chicago, coming from a long line of Wizards and he has been Aiden's best friends all of his 42 years.
In the metaphysical world, Alex, Aiden, and Lee are meant to bond together to fight against the evil threats. Combined, their powers will be strong enough to protect them. When Alex flies into New Orleans the chemistry between him and Lee is instantaneous and very strong; Aiden has a problem with it at first but after their relatives recognize the "Triad" and tell Aiden and Alex that they have to do this Aiden and Alex have a private chat. Then they have a menage with Lee, which was very hot! Lee and Alex also have sex a few times without Alex there and Alex is a very different lover than Aiden. Amelia is really spoiled to have the love of both men.
Then they combine their powers and fight against evil!
My first erotica read. I found this book while I was searching the kindle store at amazon a few weeks ago; In there, I organize the entries based on the book’s prices and always begin with the lowest price ($o.oo) first. This book was free and even though it was originally published in 2005 the description hooked me right away. The book in incredibly steamy and the plot is very engaging. However, I have a few problems with the book. As a disclaimer let me say that, not only is this my first erotica read it is also the first book that I read by Lauren Dane.
Here is my own summarize of the book’s plot, spoiler free:
Lee is the strongest witch her family has seen in generations, with her power of dream walking her job, along with the rest of her family, is to protect the people of New Orleans. Lee has been dreaming with a mysterious guy for the past two months, she doesn’t know the guys but feels an inexplicable connection to him. When she finally meets him a series of events threaten to break her, her family and the peace in New Orleans apart while a new series of dreams about another man threatens her relationship with her dream man. Can Lee be strong enough to face this new evil that is on the mists and is she capable of loving one man and lusting for another?
Now, what I liked about the book is its story and its characters, they are both very well written and interesting. What I don’t like is that the action takes place way too quickly.
Bottom line is, I like it but I didn’t love it; I will however read the next installment in the series.

I liked Triad. I think I was enjoying it more until it got off its happy couple love story. I will explain more in a bit. Its all about love and power. I enjoyed Lauren's writing very much it was an easy read and the sex...goodness she definitely knows how to put an image in your head.
Story starts with Lee wanting to revisit her powers and requesting that her family train her. She eventually meets the man that she has literally been dreaming of Aiden and well its love at first sight. They are perfect for each other and the family agrees. Then comes into play Alex who is meant to be with her as well and its lust at first sight. They all come together 'literally, LOL' to keep Lee and her power's safe from other wizards and demons.
By now Lauren has drawn me into her style of writing. I recognize that she can shock you when you less expect it. So I'm reeled in and waiting for the next sentence that I would read over and over to make sure I understood that correctly and WHALAAA! It came and it went like this:
"Aidan waited through a few of Alex’s strokes and worked a counter rhythm. She could feel each man shiver halfway in or out. “You can feel each other, can’t you?” she whispered and got a grunt or groan in the affirmative from each. She dove back into the link and felt their pleasure as well as her own."
So I now realize this isn't the typical love story I tend to read...but oh well I have invested all this time I have to finish it. Then I realized that my happy lovey romance was just tainted with this.
"She nodded and tried to laugh but ended up on a moan as he scraped over a nipple with his incisors. “I’m glad you liked it,” she managed to get out as she panted. “I know you’re curious about Alex,” she added. “Curious, yes.” “Would it be the first time?” “That I was curious?” She shot him a glare and he laughed. “No, I’ve been with a man before a time or two. Not really my cup of tea. On the other hand, this bond between us makes things different.”
YIKES! But hey it works for them. The story about Lee and her powers and fight to keep her powers was great. Also, if you are open to threesome love stories then Lauren delivers in this book.

Books are essentially meals for the mind. You have epic tales that are akin to the occasional full on blowout that leaves you stuffed and there is your standard fare that you are comfortable with and have on a day to day basis. Continuing this books are food analogy then, Triad falls clearly into the fast food category in that it's quick and easy but also something of a guilty pleasure and you just know that before too long you'll have another, but perhaps not just yet.
And when I say quick and easy, I mean it. To give you an example, I can some up the meeting between Amelia (Lee) and Aiden like so:
"Hi, I'm Lee." "Hey Lee, I'm your new neighbour and you're gorgeous. Shall we make love?" "Well, alright then."
I might be paraphrasing slightly but not by much. Lee is a dream walker which is a very powerful type of witch. So powerful that only one is born in every generation and Lee comes from a long line of powerful New Orleans witches. Aiden, her new neighbour is actually a 200 something year old vampire and the pair having been dreaming about each other for awhile now. Alex, who Lee has also been dreaming about is a wizard on the light path and also Aiden's best friend and they form the titular Triad.
It is this triad that is given the task of defeating an evil mage who used to be a god before he was stripped of his god-hood. And how do they do this? With lots of sex to combine their powers, of course. And I mean a lot so that it is almost, but not quite crosses the line from erotica into porn. Not that I would have minded, if it had but it didn't.
The thing is, with everything happening so fast with the three meeting up, practically jumping on top of each other quickly getting over any jealousy, I never felt any connection with any of the characters. So much so that when a secondary character died, I wasn't affected. The grief was shown but it hardly put a dent in the triad's path of experiencing some hot sex.
Triad was an enjoyable romp into a world of magical sex and witchcraft. As for the rest of the Witches Knot series, I'll certainly get to them the next time my mind needs a guilty pleasure!
My first thoughts on this book >>>> Insta-love! Insta-love alert! Not just insta-love with one guy, but with TWO!!!
They had only just met - but because she dreamt of him, she feels like she knows him already and loves him immediately! Ughhh, not cool... He feels the same - he just feels like he's finally met her and also loves her instantly...
The dark force was introduced early on in the book, but far a while, we were not sure what that's all about... More focus on the sex... Which would be ok, if the sex scenes were any good! They were meant to be sexy but really weren't...
Lee is a super-powerful witch - all of a sudden! At the beginning of the book, she mentioned how she did not use her gift and refused to have her mother train her... Now, all of a sudden , after ONE session with her mom, she is performing complicated spells and her powers are huge! Ok, good for her, the prodigal witch, but all this power came out of nowhere...
The villains were more comical than evil... They were like cartoon villains - stupid and reckless, just waiting to get caught...
Again - emphasis on the sex, not on the world building... We even had a bunch of threesomes... totally blah... wasn't very hot... Also - the three of them getting married and living together seems to be well accepted... Really? In which modern society is this ok?
To summarize: Plot is just too weak and not very well developed... The world-setting is also non-existent... The sex is boring and not hot. Ending - anti-climactic!
well-done overall • interesting plot and story development • New Orleans based witch Lee (Amelia Charvez age 27, matrilineal Charvez family of witches) meets first, her mate Aidan (vampire, 245 years old) and, second, her other mate, Alex (wizard of strong patrilineal wizard line and best friend of Aiden) • adventure ensues as a demon takes up in New Orleans and goes after Lee's power 8/16-8/27/2019 - read first 52 pages and got no further - just wasn’t as engaging as I’d found it on prior readings. Sigh. Too bad.
excerpts: Chapter 13 “I missed you,” Alex said gruffly as he came into the bathroom and stood behind her. She shivered with anticipation and moisture pooled in her pussy as she heard his zipper come down and the buckle on his belt jingle. Without preamble, her skirt was pushed up and her panties shoved down and his cock slammed into her. She arched her back, gasping at the feel of his thick cock, so different from Aidan’s longer shaft, filling her up, hitting nerves that hadn’t been fired since the morning he’d gone a week before. “That’s right, baby, so hot and wet. Like a fist.” He grunted, his pace picking up, no other sound but the slap of wet flesh against wet flesh. He pulled her blouse off, a few buttons flying off and hitting the floor. “I love to watch your tits bounce while I fuck you,” he said into her ear. “Touch them,” he ordered. She leaned her head back onto his shoulder and watched the incredibly erotic picture in the mirror as his hand worked her pussy and her hands worked her nipples. “Oh god. I’m coming,” she wailed and her body clamped down on him, causing a surprised grunt to come from him. “Yes! Milk my cock,” he muttered as he slammed into her so hard that the bottles on the shelves were clinking together. He threw his head back and gave a hoarse shout and she felt his cock pulse as he came.
I should start this off by saying this was a freebee download on my Kindle. I actually give this 3.5 stars. I really liked the story line and the characters, setting, and theme and based on that I would have given this 4 stars. My only problem was the constant sexual scenes. Yes, to a certain extent I see how it is needed in the story but, to my way of thinking a lot of it could have been alluded too and not been as explicit and it would still have been a good story and in addition been able to appeal to a broader group of readers.
This story centers on Amelia "Lee" Charvez, a dream walker witch. She is in her early twenties and has tried to lock out the supernatural part of her life as much as she could. All the women in Lee's family are withes, each with their own abilities/specialties. They have felt an evil presence in New Orleans, theis home city.Lee begins training in earnest with her mother and her Tante Elise because they feel that she is the only one that will be able to save them and their city from the invasive evil. Then she began having dreams about a guy for months and the dreams seemed so real. She literally walks into her dream man one day. They have instant recognition and an almost instant attraction. According to her grandmere and her Tante Elise, this dream man is important in helping her vanquish the evil from New Orleans and keeping them all alive but, he is not the only one, they see another man that they need in order to complete the triad and be able to fight the pervasive evil that is trying to invade Lee's powers and take them and her.
A witch, a vampire, and a wizard comprise the triad... will they be able to complete it and as they say ... the three shall become one...
I like the story. One of things that annoyed me though is the conversations between the characters. I understand why it was done that way but at the same time, I feel it was monotone like if the characters were not named, I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference. However, I do like the plot and I like the M/F/M action.
The story is about Lee, a witch dreamer. The strongest one so far in her family. She kept seeing this man over and over and bumped into him. They fell in love. Then somehow, she started to seeing another man in her dream. Later, her beloved called his best friend about the upcoming marriage. His best friend described his dreams and they realized that Alex (the best friend) described Lee. And Aidan (the first man who met Lee) realized the man that she was talking about was his best friend. He started to get concerned.
However, with respect to Aidan, Alex would not make a move. Except the problem was the three of them needed to form a triad to make the power increase in its strength to fight the evil that was coming toward them. It's up to Lee and Aidan to make the move or not.
Even though I am not really crazy about the conversations, I think I will continue the series.
hello let me tell you the emergency kit rules for these books the kit includes tissues, ice cream, a stress ball and sometimes on rare occasions pillow to scream in. in this book you'll need allllll of them!!!
first you meet lee she's a dream witch who wanted to be normal for a while so instead of staying for training she goes to college just to find she has a good had at painting and sells quit a bit. when she starts to have weird dreams of this man who turns on all the good buttons she goes to her family to learn about her powers when boom she meets the man of her dreams enter aidan bell there's an instant attraction and she learns he's a vampire he is funny and possessive as all vampires are. then she becomes in danger and she has this weird dream of another man enter alex a wizard at first aidan doesn't like she dreams of him and is attracted to him as alex is attracted to her they find them in a triad i don't know about others but i loved the fact aidan and alex found themselves attracted to each other as well i kept waiting for more touching between them but was left wanting but it didn't take from the story i found myself entranced in the story line and loved the book a suggest anyone who likes paranormal romances to give this series a chance
I finally had the chance to read the first book in this series and I must say it wasn't at all what I expected from a "favorite" author. The story is about a dream witch living in New Orleans. She bumps into a man who has appeared in her dreams before and he turns out to be a vampire - BAM they are in LOVE! Huh? It turns out they are meant to be together, so they have sex, form the vampire ritual of marriage and move in together. If you didn't read the synopsis or pay attention to the book title, you would think this was a regular paranormal romance between a man and a woman. The sex scenes are very steamy and the reader can buy into the romance once you get past the fact they've only known each other less than 24 hours. Just as you're getting comfortable with them as a couple, hints of another man has been appearing in her dreams. No surprise that the vampire's best friend happens to be a wizard and meant to be their "third" to form the Triad. Scorching Menage scenes written are well and witty dialogue between the characters, but the story and plot disappoints. If you've read other works by Ms. Dane, you know she has come along way since this book.
I picked this book up for a number of reasons... it was a 'romance', it was a 'supernatural' story line, and I have been following the author on twitter and FB... with that being said - I would actually rate this book as a 4.5!! It had a great story line, easy and quick read. I really enjoyed how she worked the whole story around the supernatural and the love between 3 people. It flowed nicely between the bedroom and the 'war' room (sort speak) The only thing that threw me a bit was some of the wording... realizing after I started reading this, that is books was actually listed as "erotic romance" it was a little more steamy then other romances books I read. And while her descriptions flowed well, once in a while a word was thrown in there that I felt was out of place. I excepted the characters to use particular language, but for the authors descriptions it just didn't fit. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
This is the second paranormal romance I've read from Lauren Dane and I liked it a lot. I'm very interested about witches and I always wonder what powers they have like a specialty and the good thing about read a Lauren Dane novel, is you don't have to worry about too much emotion, anxiety, complex characters, or any other uncomfortable feelings. This one is a light read, with a lot of good sex and minimal conflict - except for the part where their lives are in danger.
I liked the matriarchal point of view when it comes to witches. Lee is a powerful witch dreamer, and Aidan is a vampire, while Alex is a wizard. Everything's easy breezy when it came to Lee and Aidan's love story, because they're destined to be together. I believe in fate and I accept that, putting Alex in the equation balances them out because while Aidan is a gentle lover, Alex is his counterpart. I appreciated those scenes more whenever he's in command.
This one has a simple storyline and it's just fun.
They made this one free to you would get suckered into buying the rest of the series....and of course it worked!
Lee Charvez is a witch living in New Orleans. She is a witch dreamer and keeps dreaming of this blond haired guy. A few days later she bumps into him and discovers he lives in the apartment above hers. She also discovers Aiden is a vampire and they are destin to be together.
There are dark forces churning around Lee. The dark magic god wants Lee to be his bride. Aiden is not happy about this and calls his friend and wizard Alex Carter. Lee then begins to have dreams about Alex.
Her family tells her Alex and Aiden are her protectors and they must form a Triad to defeat the dark evil surrounding them. And I do mean form a Triad in every way!
Looking forward to the other books in this series. Looks like we may have some M/M action in the next few books!
It is hard to read about New Orleans without thinking about the devastation from H. Katrina. Apparently the Chavez women were out of town for that one. Oops. Reality aside, what woman wouldn't want to be a super powerful witch with two hot and strong men devoted to making her happy? The plot was okay. The erotic aspect was super. I do hate it when the main plot struggles are so easily overcome. Everything in the end is wrapped up tight with a bow on it. The death of a family member is the only wrench thrown in the mix. I was personally more fascinated with the interpersonal relationships within the triad than the overall plot of the book. More focus on that area would have been great.
