Another really great investigation of missing persons in NZ by Scott Bainbridge. This is missing persons writing at its best - focused, impartial and yet concentrating strongly on the human element, the missing persons themselves and those affected by their disappearances. The cases of Graeme Timlin, Dalu Desai and Fran Martin are the most haunting in this one, for me. I think the inclusion of the Beaumont children is incredibly spurious though.
Since reading this book I've lost all faith in the NZ Justice system. It's stories like this, Sophie's Legacy and even hearing about the David Bain case on the news that just proves NZ are absolutely hopeless when they have STRIKINGLY OBVIOUS evidence to work with but they either overlook it or just are too stupid to put two and two together. This book has really made me want to become a detective of some sort so I can try and make a difference in the way NZ handles such cases.
Pathetic NZ ! But a good read, kept me thinking all throughout the book. My partner got quite frustrated because I was constantly pointing out problems in the way the police etc... dealt with certain things.
