Evelyn E. Smith was an American author of Science Fiction. During the 1950s, her works appeared regularly in magazines such as Galaxy and Fantastic Universe. In the 1980s, she wrote a number of novels featuring the character Miss Melville, a middle-aged assassin.

She also wrote as Delphine C. Lyons and Christopher Grimm.

Entertaining futuristic listening 🎶🔰

Man 🚹 has left earth 🌎 as all resources have been used up. A spaceship has returned with Johnson aboard. He says goodbye 👋 to the crew and travels to New York City which is to be his home. I would recommend this novella and author to 👍 readers looking for a quick futuristic read. 2023 👒😀💘🏡

They all left,for Alpha Centauri leaving him,he the one who chose earth over the other more comfortable planets,out of reasons unknown to him. And he is left to think of his city-the ever-busy city of Manhattan-in a new light,to think of the buildings as they were in the times of glory and what they have become,to think of the other animals with whom he has to share the world,to read all the books that are left in the world now that he has got all the books in the world and all the time to read it.
That's the story,more or less. I liked the library part a lot,so tempting,isn't it.? Wonderful plot,and not-so-bad presentation. A good read for few minutes.

A surprising wonderfully made short story. Not much happens but it's so evocative and atmospheric. I could have sworn I was there with Jackson, being the last human being on earth. Couldn't recommend more.
