This was a DNF. I couldn't get past all of the anachronistic speech and terms.

Further, the author had one of the characters slipping between Middle English and something else that could be called a "modern Appalachian" dialect.

Unlike most stories where I begin my adventure with few, if any, preconceived thoughts or feelings, I was forced to approach "Deirdre's Tale" with both a sense of joyful anticipation and a feeling of utter dread. As a major fan of Jennifer Campbell's work, I was super excited to be thrust yet again into the delightfully vivid world of extreme female sexual submission she paints. However, the sensation of dread I felt stemmed from my total distaste for period pieces and my fear that I would ultimately not just dislike, but potentially hate a story by one of my favorite authors. I am so very pleased to say that my sense of dread was not only completely unfounded, but the antithesis of my overall reading experience! "Deirdre's Tale" proved to be an amazingly well written erotic ride, and another triumph for Ms. Campbell in the field of sex slave erotica. This book instantly garnered itself a place among my list of absolute favorites! A story I could easily seeing myself reading again and again!

The story centers on a young girl in the early 1700's orphaned in the wilderness of New England after her family is massacred. She is forced to try to survive on her own, which proves to be nearly fatal. Saved from drowning by a transient fur trapper, Deirdre quickly learns that her salvation comes with a price and she is expected to pay with the only means of currency available to her...her body! While this transitions into the realm of dubious consent and coercion, Deirdre is thankfully not only able to free herself of the puritanical trappings of her upbringing, but she is awakened to her own unrealized sexual potential...and loves it!

Though a relationship blossoms between Deirdre and her new lover, the arrival to civilization brings to the forefront new challenges as both Deirdre and the trapper, Jedediah, must consider the long-term direction of their association. Deirdre is forced to choose between pursuing a life with a man she has grown to love and the sweet offer of a new home made to her by the tavern keeper’s wife. And while Jedediah is himself conflicted regarding his attachment to the life he loves and his burgeoning feelings for his new charge, his choice is made easier for him by the introduction of a shadowy stranger, who extreme generosity both plays on Jedediah’s greed and sets Deirdre’s course in an entirely new direction.

Betrayed by her lover for a pocket full of coin, Deirdre soon finds herself alone at sea among a ship full of pirates where she soon discovers she has been sold into sexual slavery. Under the brutal tutelage of a merciless ship’s captain bent on breaking her and molding her into an obedient sexual plaything, Deirdre’s only hope for regaining her freedom from her captor lies with a daring rescue by her beloved, which she soon learns will never come!

Offered definitive proof that her cause is lost, Deirdre soon submits to the rigorously painful training regimen instituted by her new Master. Her days quickly become a strict course of intense conditioning geared towards making her the perfect slave, compounded by her complete oral and anal servitude to not only her Master, but his entire crew as well!

Arriving across the sea to Europe, the captain finally reveals his plan to both Deirdre and his crew. She undergoes a excruciating body modification procedure that permanently implants her with a very beautiful, but exceptionally painful, bejewelled harness geared towards affording her new Master with complete and total control!

The balance of the tale focuses on Deirdre’s ultimate sale in a far away land to a new Master, her transition into her new life as a harem slave and her finally discovery regarding the feelings of her old Master, who she had grown to love.

All-in-all a really great story that ends quite beautifully! While the story does seam complete and conclusive, I would love to see it expanded further! It was such a great tale! Highly recommended to anyone open to tales of forced sexual slavery with a happily-ever-after ending!
