A more personal summary of the three waves of Filipino immigration. The focus is on the first wave of migrant farmhands, and it is told through letters. I never knew this story, and I am glad to know it now. I learned about Carlos Bulosan, the first Filipino American writer. That alone made this book worth it. It was published shortly after President Aquino was inaugurated. This book is simple enough for teens.
