Book four in the G-A-Y SeriesAn experienced gay dominant, a gay for pay submissive and an auction. Let the bidding commence!Nate Lockwood has a plan. It involves slipping away from his security officers, hitting a BDSM club, entering himself in a submissive auction and spending the next twenty four hours as a gay for pay rent boy. If he wishes he could be submitting to someone far closer to home, but then at least he's realistic enough to know it's never going to happen.Smith has a job to do. As chief of security for the Lockwood family, it's his responsibility to track down his boss's brat of a son and bring him home. The fact that his search leads to the kind of leather bar he considers beneath contempt is not important. The fact he's been fantasising about being Nate's master since he first set eyes on him isn't relevant. The plan has to work. The job has to be done. And the bidding starts now...
Kim is a thirty-three year old bisexual submissive from Wales (UK). First published in 2008, she has since released almost 100 BDSM erotic romance titles ranging from short stories to full length novels. Having worked with a host of fantastic e-publishers, she has just moved into self publishing.
While she has occasionally ventured towards other pairings, Kim's first love is still, and probably always will be, Male/Male stories. But, no matter what the pairing, from paranormal to contemporary, and from the sweet to the intense, everything she writes will always feature three things - Kink, Love and a Happy Ending.
"Would you like that darling? To spend every moment at your master's side knowing that he can reach out and touch you however he wants to, that he could do whatever he wants to you?"
Another nice story from the G-A-Y series. I like the idea of the relationship of the head of the security with the boss's son. It's kinda cute, actually, and sweet. And in this one, the sex seems to take the back seat since I feel that the focus is more on how Ben (the head of the security) teaches Nate (the boss's son) to make decision for himself (even if in the form of submission).
Ooh, such a delicious, forceful, protective, loving, completely yummy Dom. Who calls his boy "Darling". That gets me every time. Although short, this was satifying and creamy, like an affogato.
Apparently only a kinky novella, I think that Gay for Pay hides a more deep side. As in some of the best Cinderfella reverse romance, Ben Smith, high paid security man for a multibillionaire business man is sent to the rescue of the lost lamb, meaning the son of said multibillionaire business man, Nate. The barely 20 years old boy ran away from home to end on an auction in a BDSM private club, but it was not a mistake: Nate wants to know for a night and a day what it means being gay and above all being someone else property. Nate has this idyllic idea of being a submissive, for him it implies being cherished and cuddled by another man: see, Nate has always known that his best feature is being rich, and more or less everyone who approaches him wants more his money than his body. Being auctioned as an anonymous body for him means that the one who will buy him will be interested in him as a person and not as a padded wallet.
Problem is that Ben knows well that it’s not a bed of roses, and so he half decides to rescue Nate and half to teach him a lessons: for a night Nate will be Ben’s submissive, and the morning after the boy will have enough clues to decide if being a submissive is really his vocation.
When I said that there are hidden layers in this story, I was referring to Nate’s relationship with his father: there is not hate between them, and neither shame, on the contrary Nate’s father loves him very much and wants for his son only the best; being gay is a path of trouble, and he doesn’t want it for his son. Nate loves and respects so much his father, that he really tried to suppress his needs, but then they surface all of sudden and pretend to be satisfied. As Nate loves and respects his father, I think that he is projecting the same need on the man he wants in his bed, someone older, someone to whom he has to obey, someone who can told him what to do, knowing that the other man has his best interest in mind. And if someone thinks that it’s not right, that Nate should find his own path in life, I tell that not everyone has an independent streak, and letting the lamb among the wolves can be dangerous.
This series is just short of perfect. I would like it if the books were a bit longer but I am enjoying reading about each couple. Ben Smith is an ex-cop turned personal security gaurd. Nate Lockwood was being presented as a gay for pay sub. Smith had one goal in mind. Pay for Nate, take him, home. Own him for one night.
I really got excited when I read about the set-up for this short story. I didn't quite know how Nate or Ben would react to each other. As the story progresses you can see how heart breaking family can be and how healing a few words and touches can be. Its what I love about romance [and D/s done right!:]. Even though the GAY series books are short I always say any author with the skills to write great characters can draw you in and keep you there until the end. Nate and Smith were a favorite couple in the series. Nate's story especially was great to read about. ***MINI spoiler: the sex was almost secondary to taking time to let Nate explain himself to Smith. As a concerned Master, Smith allowed Nate to make choices and actually speak!
I read this short Kim Dare goodie once and then turned right around and read it again. Yes, it was that good. I think this one may actually be tied for my favorite Kim Dare ever (You First and The Gift are at the top of my list with it!).
Ben Smith is chief of security for the Lockwood companies and imagine his irritation at having to haul Nate Lockwood, golden-haired only son of the owner, out of a BDSM club where he's auctioning himself off as slave for a day. Smith is himself a dominant and when he realizes that Nate is looking for a master in the only way he feels he can ... *fans self* ... well, I'll let you read it for yourself.
Kim Dare has a decided knack for bringing characters involved in power exchange situations to vivid life. And she promises that there will be longer books next year!
Aww. So sweet! I want to cuddle them both. Except Smith would probably manhandle me away and freeze me out.
I liked this just as much this second time around as I remember from the first. It’s just such a lovely story.
Truth be told, I am not that happy if a punishment takes corporeal form. Even so, here this was not actually an issue, it was more like a game and just a hint.
Somehow, the author makes me feel very safe and protected and happy even with the short stories. Which is so funny when you think about the subject matter. XD
Cute story, and an interesting view of D/s--both what it should be, and what it definitely isn’t. I liked the dynamic between the D and s, and the way the D got it into his sub’s head that he wanted him, not his money. The highlighting of mutual respect and the reassurance of being in control vs. not having to be in control was really interesting to read. A good balance of sex and plot, both of which were necessary to the other. Well done.
I haven't read a Kim Dare book for a while and this was a nice re-introduction to one of my favourite authors ... this was a sweet tale of a sub finding someone to love and see him for who he is rather than the image his social standing has created ... it was refreshingly simple without the clutter of over-detailed, elaborate glitter kink ... I'd have to say that this is my favourite from this series so far.
I liked this one, although I did find it a little of stretch to believe that Nate would have actually promise to say he wasn't Gay. But it made for a unique story point, and once again a good D/s story.
Loved this one...the way Smith stood upto Nates father about not allowing him to be gay...Lovely x Reading this a second time i think this is my favourite one...Nate really wanted to be gay but made a promise...Smith knew he couldn't live like that...Was so sweet and the ending was...Perfect x
A sweet and short kinky story between an older Dom and younger sub. There is conflict, and it is happily resolved. Their chemistry is good. A common thread in Ms. Dare’s stories is the lost submissive (younger man) who desperately needs a good Dom (older man) in his life.
Felt like there was something lacking. I realise it's a short but somehow it felt too rushed too incomplete and kind of unfinished. At times it felt as if the story wasn't moving forward and it was a touch frustrating. The ending to me personally was in a sense abrupt. All in all though a good read, a good story and enjoyable. Having said that, I just believe it needed that little extra something to give it that pizazz, that it was bloody amazing feeling!..
Kim Dare's G-A-Y Series is fast becoming one of my favorites and I like the fact that I can pretty much read it out of order as it still makes sense. The stories, although all part of a series are separate and can be read as stand-alones' so it doesn't affect the sequence and if one doesn't appeal it can be skipped..
Will think on it and let the whole thing percolate and swirl and develop right there before I make any more detailed comments on it . . . that is if I feel I have anything more to add on it.
Also note that I don't go into details at all and I am reviewing this in more general tones and being vague as it is a short and I do not want to create any spoilers for anyone!
This short story was a little more believable than the others that I've read in this series. I really loved the protective instinct from the Dom in this situation, Nate's security guard and the man that Nate had been in love with since the day he met him.
Smith has found Nate in a really shitty BDSM bar being auctioned off as a Gay for Pay sub... mostly because his father made him promise that he would never tell anyone he's gay and that was a loophole for him. Smith made sure to be the highest bidder to get Nate back to his father unharmed by the unpracticed wannabe doms in that bar.
When they get back to the hotel, Smith realizes that Nate really does want to find out what the D/s community is all about and Smith gives him a taste of it, then takes him home to defend him to his father.
The build up for such a short book was not too bad and I enjoyed the chemistry between the MCs :)
What would possess a seemingly straight guy to go to all the trouble of slipping his security detail so that he could put himself up for auction as a “gay for pay” submissive? Well, the answer proved that there was more to the story than meets the eye. I’m just glad that Smith was on the case, and that he was as honest, decent and masterful as Nate really needed. I love Kim Dare’s stories, but always end up wanting more. It’s like a craving that keeps me coming back and I’m more than okay with that!!
This book really should have pissed me off. It was short, right when I’d gotten to the point I wanted more and it ended. BUT what I did get was super, super, super dirty and really hot. M/M porn all the way. God I love a dirty bossy talker. I also like that "I just cannot help myself" vibe.
