Final Review: London is an interesting pamphlet read about the history of different facets of the City of London. The book provides information about the Riven Thames, important buildings and landmarks, exclusive shops, and famous people who lived or wrote about London.
Last book that I read is called "London" and it is written by Vicky Shipton. She is a British author who lives in London. I have never read her books before, but in my opinion she writes in a pretty interesting way. "London" is a non-fiction book that, obviously, talks about the capital of Great Britain. The book I read was published by Pearson Education in 2008 and it is 2nd edition. I decided to read this book because I visited London recently and I wanted to know more about it. Also, my friend reviewed it and it seemed pretty interesting to me.
As I mentioned above, this book provides information about London. While reading it, I found out many new, interesting facts about this city. I briefly learned London's history over last 6 centuries, read about famous people as well as about most recognizable landmarks. One surprising, for me, fact from this book was that in 1900's London was the biggest city on Earth. Despite that "London" is only 27 pages long, it gave a lot of interesting and relevant information.
Generally, I enjoyed the book. In my opinion it was well-structured and clear. I cannot name my favorite part of the book because all of them contributed to the better understanding of London. Since I visited this city before and I want to travel there not once, this book was very useful to me because I learned most important things about London. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to explore the capital of the UK, know more about it.
I read the book London by Vicky Shipton and it’s a non-fiction book. This book is about London and the author is from London so she should know quite a lot about it. It’s easy to read and is in a academic way because it has information on London. This book was published in 2006 and was published by Graphicraft Productions Limited. It’s 27 pages long. This book promises to give information about London. I chose to read this book because I needed a book about London which was short.
As I’ve said before, this book talks about London. The point of this book is to teach people a little bit about London, before they go and visit. I learned that a fire destroyed most of the city in 1666, Roman Julius Caesar was the first play in the Globe, River Thames passes through London. The author did achieve his purpose because I did learn about London while reading this book.
I liked that the book was straightforward and told the information that was need to be told to anyone visiting London. My favorite part of the book was when it was talking about the theatres and West-End shows. I don’t really like when it was talking about museums because those aren’t interesting to me. Someone who wants to go to London or someone who is interested in different places, would be interested in this book. I would recommend this book to a few of my friends, because many are planning to move to London like me so they need the basic information. I think anyone above 7 can read this book. 6/10
3. Thames, capital, Caesar, palace, football, Sherlock Homes, Black Taxis
4. More than twenty five percent of the people in London were not born there.
It shows that people come to the capital from other areas of Britain. So we can hear several languages on the streets of London. I didn't know and was surprised.
5. London is one of the great cities of the world. It is the biggest city in Britain and Europe. I could find a lot of interesting information such as history from Roman times.
