Paranormal encounters fascinate young readers, and this exciting series is devoted to them. Heavily illustrated and clearly written, each book presents phenomena such as aliens, ghosts and werewolves. Eyewitness accounts are paired with alternative explanations and other elements of reasoning, accompanied by critical thinking sidebars, color photographs, illustrations and diagrams.

This book is a lot better than the last Mothman book I read. It has some interesting information and is a fun little read, but still, the information is nothing new. It is a tiny children's book after all. I don't recommend this book to anyone who's already familiar with the Mothman legend, but if it's something you're new to, this would be a good start.

The Mothman is one of the eeriest monsters of the last century. In this book we read about two sights in November, the creature, frightening encounters, the Silver Bridge, Thunderbird, origins and sightings, the bird man in India, Mothman in Art and film (e.g. Jeepers Creepers or the Mothman Prophesies). Together with many excellent photos and illustrations the essential work you have to read. Highly recommended!

Simple way of explaining the mothman which was nice. I read this because Point Pleasant is near where I live so I wanted more information on a local legend. This book was a quick guide to it which helped me not get bogged down with too much details. My one complaint is I think it should have art of mothman along with the pictures of the places/people.

This book is part of the Mysterious Encounters series. It is written on a level for about 4th or 5th grade. There isn't really any new information that can't be found in other sources. If you are unfamiliar with Mothman, then this book would be an ok introduction to the subject. My son is planning to write a paper for his language arts class about Mothman since we live near the area where the bulk of the sightings took place, but I am not too sure this book will be all that helpful. Maybe we will go to the Mothman museum to get more information. I think what bothers me is that the author didn't take a stand one way or the other and just ended the book with a bunch of questions.
