This was the best of summer vacations and it was stacking up to be the worst of summer vacations. When Jackie’s dream of having a horse of her own came true, she wasn’t prepared for the reality. Charlie was far from the perfect horse she had envisioned. He had a mind of his own and a will that was stronger than hers. Vet exam? Disaster! Trail rides? Disaster! Sleepy summer days? Disaster! She was dragged and dumped and desperate. As Charlie left Jackie in the dust, she chased after him, watching his tail disappear down the road but couldn’t keep him trotting during a riding lesson. He was cute, and charming, and knew more about riding than she did. It was less a matter of her putting up with him and more about how Charlie put up with her as Jackie struggled to become a horsewoman worthy of Charlie.
This engaging horse book set in America, features a young lady who is dying to have her first real horse. When she is offered Charlie her life changes in a big way. He has a mind of his own, won't be hurried, and is a long way from the horse of her dreams. But maybe that's better, because she has to learn to be a good rider.
With valuable tips on riding and stable management, Dream Horse will amuse and encourage young people, while making old hands with horses nod their heads wisely. I enjoyed the short read a lot.
This book was very cute and light hearted. I think any horse person would enjoy it especially showing horses types of people. It was mostly English riding. I am an adult and it reminds me of more of !my shenanigans with horses when I was younger even. There were some spelling and grammatical errors but of course you could figure out what the author had really meant. I read this book in about 2 days. It is a good book for children and adults a like. It has some very funny stuff happen that really add to the story. It was a fun story.
"Dream Horse" by Barbara Morgenroth is a fun book for any young girl who loves horses. The story revolves around a young girl named Jackie, who finally gets her first horse, Charlie, only to find that owning your own horse isn't quite the fairytale she envisioned, especially with a horse like Impossible Charlie!
I have to win please! I love and have loved horses all my life. This book, had I gotten a horse, could probably well have been my biography. Still dreaming of owning a horse. If a zebra and a donkey can create a "donkra" anything is possible...
Both my 10 year old daughter and I really enjoyed this book. The characters are relatable and the equestrian aspects made it even more interesting. I will be recommending this book to others.
