Author of the exciting R.I.S.C. Series, Anna Blakely brings you stories of love, action, and edge of your seat suspense. As an avid reader herself, Anna writes what she loves...strong, Alpha heroes and the intelligent, independent heroines they love.
Anna's dream is to create stories her readers will enjoy, and characters they'll fall in love with as much as she has. She believes in true love and Happily Ever After, which is what she will bring to you.
Anna lives in rural Missouri with her husband and children, as well as several rescued animals. When she's not writing, Anna enjoys reading, watching action and horror movies (the scarier the better), and spending time with her amazing family.
Its an absolute masterpiece and I love it! When it comes storytelling Anna is amazing!
Wow talk about a tornado! Thats how this story goes around and the emotions too, while reading this book. Every Time you think you get the hang in it. Anna will have you blindsided with another puzzle and you read and read to keep catching up how the story will go. Its a book you will read in one sitting.
Enjoyable in places, but I didn’t feel a connection to either of them. Some parts weren’t really well written.
While I did enjoy this book parts of this book, it wasn’t very well written in places or very believable. I didn’t feel any connection with either of them. Cassie’s lawyer friend is representing her, but we never get to meet Callie, yet they’re supposed to be really good friends. Callie’s book is next by the way.
Cassie meets Archer when she hires the company to protect her and investigate the death of her ex husband. Cassie is being charged with the murder of her husband but she was very obviously the intended target. The police haven’t got any real evidence against her and it just feels a sham that she’s been charged and the police have closed the case. It’s very obvious straight away who the real murderer is and yes it does spoil it.
When Cassie and Archer first meet they both feel instantly attracted to each. To be honest their attraction didn’t feel real. Cassie has been in jail for three days and it looks like she’s going to prison for a long time and I just can’t see that she would be turned on every time she looks at Archer. Of course they fall in love and that didn’t feel either.
Then there’s the s*x scene. 😂😂😂😂 It was awful. Cassie is naked in front of Archer and he starts thinking about things. Like he’s almost bored and not into it at all.
The danger never really comes to anything and I didn’t feel any tension at all.
Anna Blakely did it again another great story. This is book #2 from the Eagles's Nest Securities and I will say that 5 stars are not nearly enough. This is Archers and Cassies's story and from start to the end it is great. It keeps you guessing from the very first chapter, and just when you think everything is over and all the danger is over bam theres another turn and thats the last 2 chapters. Excitement, romance, and a wonderful HEA. I highly recommend this book, and all of her previous books too. Great job Anna!
'You're just here to do a job. Nothing more. And I'm just trying not to die....'
Cass finds her life changes in a second, one minute she is being handed everything she wants and more, the next everything has come crashing down around her ears as she is accused of murder, her business is in shambles and someone is still trying to kill her! I love that no matter how tough it gets Cass holds her head high, she never wavers in her determination to prove herself innocent, I also like that whilst she is determined, she is not overly confident and she is stunned that Archer and the Eagle's Nest Team don't hesitate to believe her. I had two suspects for the murderer, and I wasn't entirely wrong, although I didn't see the twist until the funeral but this didn't detract from my enjoyment of the book as we don't get all our answers until the final pages. Cass and Archer are perfect for each other in a way that neither could have imagined before meeting, they just click like puzzle pieces, she also fits into the team seemlessly and I hope Cass will be a guiding light on legal matters for the team as they continue looking for answers into their departure from the Navy. I read this on Kindle Unlimited, Lucky's book is up next and I cannot wait to see the player brought to his knees by a woman he doesn't even like!
Playing With Fire was filled with non-stop suspense, drama and danger, beginning to end. And, the romance? Let's just say...white hot. Killing her soon to be ex-husband on the night he finally signed the final divorce papers and setting her free doesn't make a lot of sense, but Cassandra Montgomery is charged with murder anyway. Seeking help from Eagle's Nest Security is twofold. She needs their investigation expertise and she's sure that she was the intended victim. Archer Nash found himself caught up in the drama surrounding the beautiful lady lawyer's murder case. Having her show up at Eagle's Nest seems serendipitous. The more he learns, the more he's convinced of her innocence. Proving it, however, is another matter. But, first and foremost, keeping her safe is paramount as the rabid press dogs her every step and threats keep arising. The more they're together the deeper their feelings develop for one another. It may not be professional but the heart wants what the heart wants. Ms Blaely throws in an unexpected twist that you won't see coming but it really amps up the final chapters. Great reading and of course an HEA.
Fraught with danger, who wants to kill Cassie? Edge of your seat scenes filled with suspense, twists and turns even when you think you have it all worked out, more comes along. Archer falls hard and fast for this incredibly strong woman, something about her has his interest even before he meets her. Even with the attraction and sparks he is determined to keep her safe and fortunately the team back him. Interesting plot and characters. On the surface you think the only person who could possibly want to kill her would be her ex, this is where it starts twisting with several surprises. Gripping, edgy, dark at times, ruthless as well as greed. Plus you have heat and sizzle, love and care, understanding and support. So many different aspects kept me turning pages and soaking it all up like sponge, I loved Archers determination that she was innocent even before he heard everything. I adore the team and how loyal and like brothers they are and I very muck look forward to each getting their stories told. Winner.
I had high hopes for this second book in the Eagle's Nest Securities series, sadly Playing With Fire fell short. The story of lawyer Cassie Montgomery who has been wrongly accused of killing her partner and soon to be ex-husband had the potential to really be exciting however it dragged on way too long and was rather boring until about the last 10% of the story. When she first gets released from jail, she goes to Eagle's Nest Securities and Archer Nash for assistance in not only finding out who placed the poison in her home that led to her husband's death, but to keep her safe in the process. That's it. That's the entirety of their story and that's why it was so lacking. There just wasn't much to it and the action was pretty non existent. A great cover doesn't make a great story. Hopefully the next book in the series will have more depth. Playing With Fire was told from dual POV and had one steamy scene and minimal angst.
Loved these two characters. When Cassie is arrested for killing her soon to be ex husband, she seeks help from Eagle's Nest Security and Archer takes the case.
The connection and chemistry is the first thing I noticed from these characters. Both were vulnerable but both had a strength that showed in different ways. Archer was the Protector, and Cassie was in a world of hurt but still self aware enough to know what she needed to do.
I really enjoyed the team of guys also and their different personalities that really added to the laugh factor a couple of times. But it was great to know they had Archer's back when it counted.
Well written with a complex but not overtly plot and truly likeable characters you want to read about again and again.
Asher and Cassie. Man o man. I loved the twists we took to get to the bad actors. I was on the right track but missed the final evil character. Asher and Cassie are cute together as they battle the line between background experiences, betrayal from unexpected sources, accusations at the criminal level and uncertainty about next steps due to the client component. They overcome those concerns in a violent manner…twice and we see the team and Asher give it their all emotionally and physically. Lucky was the standout friend in this book so excited to see what is next for him or Van or the others. Also, heck yeah for how Cassie stood up for herself when confronting a betrayal. A quick and good read.
This is the second book in the Eagle's Nest Security series. If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. This book keeps you guessing from the first page. Every time I thought I had everything figured out, here comes another plot twist! I love Archer and Cassie's chemistry! It practically jumps off the page. Archer believes in Cassie before they even meet each other. Just when you think the danger is past, Cassie finds herself in another tight spot. Will Archer get there in time to save Cassie? Get this book ASAP and find out. You won't regret it. Sorry, no spoilers. I received this ARC and here is my honest review.
Archer Nash is a former Navy Seal, who now co-owner of Eagle Nest Securities with his team mates. Cassie Montgomery is a lawyer ( dubbed The Black Widow Lawyer).
Cassie meets Archer, when she goes to Eagle Nest Securities, to have them help her prove she is innocent of murdering her estranged husband. They soon have a lot of things going on as well as being targets themselves.
Can Archer and his team get to the bottom of who the killer is and save Cassie? Can Cassie and Archer have a Happily Ever After?
This book has edge of your seat suspense, danger, twists, turns and a second chance at love.
After reading the start of the new series of Eagle’s Nest Securities, I wondered how Anna Blakely could make this series stand out from the rest of her hot as h-e-double hockey sticks heroes. Well, I am no longer wondering. No spoilers, but suffice to say I am seriously in love with these guys! And their ladies are just as amazing and strong. The plots are strong and this one has a delicious yet shocking twist at the end that I did not see coming! Who I thought was behind it all wasn’t. And I am really hoping they start investigating who was responsible for Hunter’s death soon cause I REALLY want to see that person pay! IYKYK. 13/10 recommend!!!
I am obsessed with one of my favorite author's newest series Eagle's Nest Securities! This story focuses on Archer and Cassie's romance with an underline of mystery and action. With Cassie accused for a murder she didn't commit, she is led into a dangerous world with only Archer and his team to keep her safe and discover the real murderer. Especially since she was actually the main target! The close proximity with her bodyguard Archer leads to a completely heated romance! Every moment of this book had me flipping the pages wanting more. I cannot wait for the next book!
Accused of murdering her estranged husband and convinced the poison was meant for her, Cassie Montgomery turned to the guys at Eagles Nest Security to help clear her name and protect her. Archer Nash has been following the news of the "Black Widow Lawyer," and something in his gut tells him there's more to the story. When Cassie walks in and asks for help, he can't help but say yes. As the days go on and another attempt on her life reveals the true identity of the killer, Cassie can't believe everything that has happened. But, wait, it's not ever yet..
A fast past and all action book. Cassie is accused of murder, her husband's murder. Little knowing that she was the target. Secrets are revealed and there is a twist at the end that I really didn't see coming but it was a wow OMG moment. Archer is the bodyguard sent to protect Cassie and find the real truth. Little realising that it could lead to long term. An awesome book. Great characters with lots of mystery and fast paced action. Can't wait for book three.
I couldn’t stop till I finished it. Anna Blakely has done a wonderful story of mystery, suspense, and romance. This time it’s Archer Nash a former navy SEAL who is obsessed with the Black Widow Lawyer case that’s on the news. So after watching Cassidy Montgomery on TV being released from jail she walks in to hire his security firm to help prove she’s innocent. There are some twists to this story that leaves you to the end to be solved. This is a real page turner till the end. Looking for to the next in this series.
Wow! What a story, a wife accused of killing her cheating husband, Cassie needed help to prove her innocence so her lawyer suggested she go to Eagles Nest Securities and talk to them. Archer was immediately smitten with her, listened to her story with reservation and called the team members together. They went through the process of trying to clear her name. Things happened,Archer almost lost her, and he and she confessed they loved one another. This was an exciting story and I enjoyed reading it!
Each new book by Ms Blakey just gets better and better. I found there was more emotion and more intrigue with this book. Cassie just pulls at your heartstrings and Archer, I don’t know, there was just something about him that drew me to him and his character. This book was about being up against the wall and having no one in your corner when you needed somebody, but Archer was in her corner and it makes the world of difference. Don’t be afraid.
A great second book to this new series. The Eagles Nest Security team is a new business with a great reputation. When Cassie comes in to hire them she meets Nash who is already familiar with the case and has a gut feeling of her innocence. This fast pace story is full of mystery, twists, red herrings, and didn't see that coming moments that will keep you riveted. A five star read with a punch. I received this ARC and voluntarily give my review.
Great story - romantic suspense meets murder mystery! Lawyer Cassie Montgomery has been charged with murdering her husband, she claims she is innocent and she was actually the intended victim. Even before Cassie turned up at Eagle Nest Securities asking for help Archer Nash was drawn to the beautiful women he saw in TV and his gut was screaming that there was much much more to her case than it appears. The attraction grows between the pair as Archer is determined to both clear her name and keep her safe. Oh there are twists, you are kept guessing and therefore hooked! Entertaining and enjoyable, reading is recommended!
Playing with Fire is an awesome addition to the Eagle’s Nest Security series by Anna Blakey. Cassie has been accused of muttering her husband. She walks into Eagle’s Nest Security looking for help. Her life will never be the same after she meets Archer. They are drawn to each other, and feelings grief quickly as the tan tries to figure out what happened. Their story is a suspenseful, sexy page turner. I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait for the next book’
Archer Nash didn’t believe the news dubbing Cassandra ‘Cassie’ Montgomery, the Black Widow Lawyer and blaming her for her husband’s death for a moment. Taking her lawyer’s advice, Cassie beats feet to ENS’s office. Nash and Cassie are stunned over their mutual attraction. Nash is more convinced Cassie’s innocent and immediately agrees to take the case. Cassie’s influential in-laws are leading the convict without trial mob. But that twisty ending works. Rating: 4.5stars
WOWOW…What a wild, crazy, twisting and turning journey for Cassie and Archer!!! Loved the pull and chemistry between them but…wow…what a surprise in the whodunnit’s. Just when you think it’s solved and Cassie is safe you get a humdinger of a surprising twist and leaving Archer praying he can get to her in time. A heart racing, page turning romance and I loved it!!!
Another winner for Anna Blakely! Archer and Cassie have the perfect story! Archer believed in her innocence before they even met in person. There are so many twists and turns that you will be on the edge of your seat for the whole story! Just when you think you’ve figured it out, another twist pops up and you’re hoping Archer can save her. You won’t want to put this book down!
Wow! This book had you riveted from start to finish!! The twist, turns and angst have you enthralled and captivated from the very first page! Throw in a team of alpha males, a strong heroine whom never gives in and you have an absolutely amazing story! Can’t wait to read the next instalment! Thanks Anna. 💕
Go to cabin in mountain far far away from the nutties
A interesting storyline poor women (if I was her I would move to a cabin in the mountains with books) two nutty people in this one blame the victim try and kill her when she had done nothing. A great read lots of twists I did guess but I think you are ment to it keeps you on the edge of your seat
Playing with Fire was so good from start to finish with a couple of twists and turns that I did not see coming. I could not put this book down. I really enjoyed Archer and Cassie’s story as they are an unlikely couple but they totally work. Great seeing the team in action protecting Cassie while trying to figure out who betrayed them and their fallen friend, Hunter.
Another win! I’m so excited for this series. You think the story’s over in this one, but no. The twist was ‘Well. Didn’t see that coming…’ Archer believed in Cassie from the start which helped with their immediate connection. I’m ready for the rest of the series!
Archer and Cassie were put together in a professional relationship that quickly moved into more. There were lots of twists and turns in this whodunnit romance. I loved how the characters interacted with each other. They felt like family.
