NEW AND...IMPROVED? Going from geek to goddess ain't easy!
As far as Kent Wright was concerned, Becca Lewis was just fine the way she was. A little mousy, maybe, but a sweet friend and a darn good chemist. So why did she have to go and wreck it all by having a makeover? Now she looked like some sexy siren out of a lingerie catalog, and when it came to chemistry...there was only one kind on Kent's mind!
ANDREW IN EXCESS She's got the baby blues...
Teacher Kat Devereaux was free spirited, unorthodox...and had a little problem with excess. And right now, her biological clock was ticking excessively loudly. What she needed was a temporary husband--one she couldn't possibly fall for. Andrew Winthrop III was stuffy, conservative and needed a wife. A marriage of convenience would solve both their problems. Only, neither one anticipated enjoying their mock marriage so excessively....
Jill Shalvis is a NYT, USA Today, and Amazon Top 100 bestselling author of small-town romance and romcoms, known for big feels, found family, and plenty of shenanigans.
If you love small-town chaos, meddling friends and neighbors, sizzling chemistry, and heroes who fall hard for the one woman they absolutely did not plan on, you’re in the right place. Jill’s books blend laugh-out-loud moments with emotional gut punches, slow-burn tension, and deeply earned happily ever afters.
She writes the stories she loves to read: small-town romance and romantic comedies packed with heart, heat, second chances, grumpy/sunshine sparks, and the kind of found-family vibes that make you want to move right into the pages. Many of her series are perfect for binge-reading, and a number of her books are available in Kindle Unlimited and at major retailers.
When she’s not writing, she’s probably plotting new ways to torture her characters, avoiding laundry, or daydreaming about fictional men and the strong, complicated women who bring them to their knees—and then making them work for it.
You can follow Jill here on Goodreads to keep up with new releases, add her books to your shelves, and discover which small town you want to get lost in next.
The second story was the best of this duet. It had the right mix of humor and action. First story so unrealistic it didn't draw me in. (JS) Scientist Becca has make over and boss Kent took interest. (JL) Teacher Kat wants baby and talks attorney Andrew into short term marriage.
2 books in 1. I surprisingly didn’t really like the Jill Shalvis story (the reason I got it) but I really liked the other story (besides the man’s annoying name).
* - New and... Improved? by Jill Shalvis This one just didn't work for me. Something about the pacing, the dialog, the things they did just didn't work for me. I ended up skimming a lot out of boredom.
*** - Andrew in Excess by Jennifer LaBrecque This was cute, fun and funny. I liked the two lead characters and the supporting cast. I loved the dog. It was sweet and I liked the resolution.
New and... Improved = 3. I love Jill Shalvis books but this is one of her earlier, but not better, stories. Andrew in Excess = 4. Cute characters with a feel good ending.
