Fascination

Rate this book
"Blair takes us behind the closed doors of the Victorian era" (Booklist) in this grand drama of passion and ambition.   Fascination unfolds aboard a sumptuous ocean liner bound for England, where three elegant women vie for the attention of magnetically handsome widower Senator Steven James.  They are beautiful society wife Miranda Cunningham, her spoiled niece Cynthia--off to Europe to catch a titled husband--and Kitt McAllister, a redheaded firebrand eager to see the world.

From New York to London to Cairo, this is a novel of glamour and grandeur, of women breaking free from high society's conventions, and of wayward desires that can damn a woman to ruin--unless she finds the strength to resist the allure of Fascination.

Victorian shipboard romance ensues between handsome man and married woman who thought she was satisfied with hubby til she meets him.
Spoiled daughter also "in love" with said gentleman, who ignores her. Daughter totally clueless about affair.
End of the journey full of pathos.
A book that examines the different kinds of love that can be experienced between two people.

Not your average historical romance, this book is full of scandal and heartbreak and the difficulties women faced in the Victorian era.

I quite enjoyed this read, although it wasn't a patch on Leona Blair's other novels I've read.
Still, I think it's worth reading.
