I read this in order to know where it was coming from so I can make some marketing materials for the theater company I have been working with. The script was a little disappointing, but I also read it on an airplane on four hours of sleep. Like a lot of lackluster scripts, I think the genius will come out in the production. It had its beautiful moments and some beautiful words, but it was all just so predictable, and I don't mean just because you know ahead of time what is going to happen, but that nothing varies from that script or really seems to add anything to it. We'll see how it goes!
I can't really comment on this script objectively, since my advisor wrote it. I will say the man practices what he preaches, and this story of a woman looking for appropriate love and then real love is a must-read. It punches you in the gut over and over again, and forces the reader to confront whether compromise should be the highest order of humanity, and whether or not some secrets/torches should be kept burning.
