A Civil War love story that took place in the Fredericksburg area. Great read. This is the last one of a trilogy.

I enjoyed the historical aspects of this book but was disappointed with the plots. My disappointment started with the affair of Amanda and Wil and escalated with the death of Alice. I had a hard time focusing on the last chapters because I mourned for Alice and wondered who Amanda was going to end up with. Amanda has always irritated me and even more so with what she did to her husband and her sister. I did like how Alice guided Wil after she passed on but I wish he had appreciated her more when she was alive. Both Amanda and Wil needed a good spanking. Book two was my favorite in the series.

By the end of this series I felt like I had emotional whiplash. First book, Amanda drove me crazy with her choices. Second book, I ended up really liking Alice and was fully invested in her story. But this third book?? I genuinely don’t even know how I feel. I still loved Alice, which honestly made the ending more sad. How could it end like THAT?!

Loved this 3rd book in a Civil War Historical fiction series by Kim Murphy-hated for it to end. Loved all the characters and descriptions about reconstruction
