"In the city of Lazarus, deep in the heart of the narrow streets known as Thirteen Points, Celia Bowen, a vampire Hunter, med student and heir to a powerful legacy, has been torn between two men for months. Her boyfriend Rembrandt Van Amburgh claims to love her, and yet he violently attacks her and makes her fear for her life. Rembrandt is intensely jealous of the close relationship developing between Celia and fellow Hunter Brody Fox. As Celia's feelings for Brody grow stronger and more irresistible, Rembrandt grows more and more violent. He will stop at nothing in order to exact bloody revenge on Brody and Celia, even if that means turning to the dark forces of the Damned...who want Rembrandt for their own." Heartbreaking, cruel, action-packed, sexy, surprising, and full of twisted plots of revenge, "Damned" is the second novel in the Lazarus Series and continues the story of the dark and dangerous Thirteen Points. Don't miss this, or "Hunters", the first entry in the series!

Possibly 3.5stars, quick read and very good.

Damned is the second in the Lazarus Series and is as interesting as the first. It isn't stressed that you are in the paranormal world -- but you don't forget that you are. The world and the characters were fully developed in Hunters, but just how fully may not be appreciated until you are reading Damned. This could be a stand-alone - if you start here, you get enough information on the characters to understand.

Our heroine from Hunters is off-center for this entry as another Hunter is spotlighted. This time around we find out more about the Hunters, Sanguis, Razorblades and our favorite corner of the world - 13points. As one of the Hunters prepares to make life changes it affects others in ways you would not have thought possible. Some changes were so profound that our intrepid group of Hunters are split and book three could almost be a re-boot.

This entry is full of messy life things that happen to the best of us....secrets, betrayal, love lost, love found, jealousy, stupid moves, a couple of twists and turnsm and let us not forget power struggles. There is also the action of the fights which are written well in both of the series entries I've read so far. The writing is clear and it is evident C.J. has a vision -- but in some ways it reminded me of Buffy. The plan was for six books and four are available and they are worth the investment.
