Rock Music Styles: A History

Rate this book
Rock Music A History blends musical commentary into an historical and social framework as it traces the development of rock music from its roots in the blues, country, gospel, and other pre-rock music through the decades to the most contemporary styles of rock music. The book features a series of detailed listening guides that explore examples of the genre in significant musical detail, enabling students to connect the popular music of yesterday with that of today.

Borrowed it from a friend, who bought it as a textbook. I enjoyed it - filled in a lot of gaps in my knowledge of music history.

Wouldn't know

I never once opened this book. You know how it goes in college. My professor required it and we never used it

Somehow I had to read through this entire book for a summer class. If I was bored it's because I had to read it under academic duress. However, there was a lot of interesting material in here and it changed my entire perspective on music.
