Born and bred in Windhoek, Namibia, Stein has considerable experience in the media field and has worked as a journalist, TV producer, and PR consultant before starting her own small media production company. Her hobbies include writing, reading, cooking, travelling, photography, and scouting the airwaves for new music and watching soccer.
The thirty five year old Stein started writing at the age of thirteen after feeling cheated by the ending of a novel she was reading. She took the novel and rewrote it from the ending back to the front, adding 200 more pages to it. Since then she's only written in her native language, Afrikaans, a derivation of the Dutch language. Throughout her high school career, she 'lended' out her work to fellow boarding school students at a fee and made a killing writing love stories for couples on Valentine's Day.
Not a native English speaker she decided to experiment in 2007 by writing a few short stories in English, which since has been kept password-protected on her hard drive never to see the light of day. By pure accident, she came across platforms on the internet to publish her work and was encouraged by a friend to try and post some of her stories.
Stein still resides in Windhoek.

Why 5 stars…

I didn’t give the last installment 5 stars because it was lacking IMHO intimacy between the new protagonist and her love interest. It wasn’t the best of storylines where the past collates with the present of who they are and how they came to be.

Aritica was transformed from a formidable scout that was also a womanizer and alcoholic into something “more and different” that was quite surprising. Laird also had the same metamorphosis phis as did Aritica but was known as serious, intelligent and eschewing anyone trying to get close to her, be it male or female. It was lacking. And the supporting cast of Pharah and Dione wasn’t enough presence in the story to help boost its contents. I would have preferred more of them.

This was a very good and intimate story about an Alpha wolf were named Myer Olex and trying to sire an heir but had been having trouble trying to find just the right were to do so with. She was also known as a successful and player billionaire. She meets a sweet and adorable were named Gillian. And their story takes a very unexpected turn with us first meeting them. There are so many surprising twists and turns. But you can’t help but like both characters and be drawn to them.

Then there are the other stories playing in the background. I am always in awe of Pharah and her Crescent 🌙. There is no being like the Crescent and I am fixated on her as a character. And she needs a light but deadly hand when needed in Pharah. Someone that challenges her without “challenging” her rule, her authority, her power, nor her very nature. The pacifist and the annihilator.

We see other loves and loves come together that continues the story arcs from the previous two books. First the immortals-vampires. Then the Enchanted-the witches. Now the Feral- the wolf weres. We’ve also read about the various hybrids. And so far they’ve been very bad and evil beings thus far whose transformations have gone very wrong . We’ve also been introduced to the Fae, well the Elven. And that is where we are right now.

I do tend to leave the book/series because for every chapter that is written, separated by several scenes from different characters and scene/story changes, it can get a little boring with all of it being told that way. It is my only pet peeve with this author brand or style of storytelling. Just when the scene gets interesting, it cuts to another. I tend to try to overlook my annoyance with it and continue on with the story and biding my time until I am back with those characters a care a great deal about.

Lastly, majority of her characters are mature in mind and in age. I like the fact that more are in their 40-50’s. Although it is isn’t always mentioned. It is wonderful, especially if you’re tired of all the 20-30 something minutiae and angst as I am. Thank you. Thank you.

Now, I can’t wait to see what follows with Pharah, Dione, Myer, and Gillian. The others? Well, they’re fillers.

Another good one

As usual, it is an excellent continuation of the storyline. I am eagerly waiting on the next in the series.

decent read

The book was a decent read. The positives were the story line and the supernatural world building, as well as the intense and interesting characters.
Different stories were told from various characters' points of view that tied neatly into the story arc, which I believe was executed nicely. I love all the characters and the story in general.

Because there were different characters in the beginning, it took some time to get used to who was who and why. After a time, though, it got easier to understand why this was happening, and the story began to flow nicely. I felt the ending was a bit rushed and rolled into an epilogue to give some closure, but it didn’t do the book any justice. More needed to be told before the epilogue. This book needs a part 2 or even a part 3 to get things done. The author opened a big world with lots of introductions to different supernatural beings and set the stage up for a bigger storyline but failed to deliver; hence, the rushed ending. I am hoping this isn’t a standalone book.
The story is way too strong to end abruptly.

Over all, I did enjoy the book and highly recommend it.

Loved it!! I was so hooked that I stayed up until 1:36 AM to finish this book. I am always amazed with Stein Willard's imagination and story telling skills. She does a great job putting a new spin into many genre (Paranormal, Fantasy, Sci-fi). She is one of those authors that I click "Buy" without even knowing what the book is about. I am never disappointed! I am so looking forward to book 4! I want more :-). Excellent Book!
