Emma Darcy is the pseudonym created by the married writing team of Wendy (1940-2020) and Frank Brennan (1936-1995). Their life journey has taken as many twists and turns as the characters in their stories, whose international popularity has resulted in over sixty-million book sales. With more than a hundred titles, Emma Darcy appeared regularly on the Waldenbooks bestseller lists in the U.S.A. and in the Nielson BookScan Top 100 chart in the U.K.

Wendy was born 28 November 1940 in Australia. Her sister was the novelist Maureen Mary (Miranda Lee). Her father was a country school teacher and brilliant sportsman. Her mother was a talented dressmaker. She obtained an Honours degree in Latin and initially worked as a high school English/French teacher. She married Frank Brennan, an Australian businessman born in 1936. She changed careers to computer programming before marriage and motherhood settled her into a community life. She was reputedly the first woman computer programmer in the southern hemisphere.

As voracious readers, the step to writing their own books seemed a natural progression and the challenge of creating exciting stories was soon highly addictive. They were published since 1983. In 1993, for the Emma Darcy pseudonym's 10th anniversary, they created the "Emma Darcy Award Contest" to encourage authors to finish their manuscripts. After the death of Frank Brennan in 1995, Wendy wrotes books on her own. She lived in a beachside property on the central coast of New South Wales, and liked to travel extensively to research settings and increase her experience of places and people.

Wendy Brennan passed away on December 21, 2020. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and sister, writer Miranda Lee.

This is the 1st book in the Ramirez Brides Trilogy written by three different authors.
The Ramirez Bride is written by Emma Darcy and tells the story of Nick, one of the three illegitimate sons of Enrique Ramirez, a billionaire playboy, who before dying left a “mission” for each son to complete before they can inherit his billions.

Nick is the ultimate playboy and on finding that his “mission” is that he has to get married and have a child within a year or forfeit his legacy. I wasn't totally crazy about him but soon found myself warming up a bit. Is it any wonder why he behaves and thinks the way he does after seeing what love and marriage is about having his parents be his example?

So he decides to marry Tess, after having a one-night stand a year ago and dropping her immediately and moving on to the next woman available. What he doesn't realize is that she was pregnant and had his baby and never told him about it because, even though she loved him, he did not share the same feelings.

Nick discovers her secret and the more he’s with her begins realizing that there’s some special about her that he had never seen before. Right, you dog!!!!

Whilst Tess was a nice character, I kept wishing she would give him more of a hard time after all the heartache he caused her. I would have loved seeing him grovel a bit.

But I was happy that they did have the HEA with their son Zach.

Now for the next book about one of his newly discovered brothers.

A little to fluffy and conflict-free for my tastes. The hero has to marry and produce a child if he is to learn of the identities of his two sequel baits half-brothers. The first person who springs to mind is his ex- stepsister with whom he had a one night stand the year before.

Turns out she had his secret baby two months before! What a coincidence.

So they marry because they both had rough childhoods and they don't want to hurt their child like they had been hurt. They keep the wedding private (there is a lovely description of the wedding chapel) and then break the news to their parents. The hero's mother brings about the black moment when she explains to the h why the hero needed to get married at that time. The heroine thinks she's a means to an end and the hero has to work hard to gain her trust after the lawyer shows up with his inheritance package.

The hero is a nice guy. The heroine is nice, too. Not a lot of drama. Give this one a read when you need to park your brain away from stormy emotions.

"The Ramirez Bride" is the story of Nick and Tessa.

Umm. EW.

The h and H have a one night stand an year ago, after which the H dumps her and moves on with OW.
However, now his dead biological father's will forces him to have an heir, and he suddenly remembers the h, because she looks like she'd be easy to seduce and reproduce- and realizes she has already had his child!
So basically, our H is in shock. He insists on meeting the baby. His first thought on seeing the cherub infant is that the curly hair makes him look feminine, and that he'd have to teach him the "right" attitude. Later the h and H discuss the length of the baby's privates, which are apparently bull like.
Then when the h confesses not being able to breastfeed due to a complication, this is what the H's inner monologue says "Tess had great breasts. He couldn’t believe they had failed their prime function.Nick knew his own mother scorned the practice of breast-feeding—peasant women who want to be cows—rattling on about the old aristocracy having had it right with employing wet nurses for their children. Was Tess lying, making excuses for the vanity of not wanting sagging breasts in future?"

I'm gonna STOP right here.
FUCK YOU, you piece of tomcatting, condescending douchbag of a hero who legit slept around with X number of females after seducing the plain looking heroine, and is now JUDGING her. HOPE YOU DIE FROM HERPES.

I'm not gonna continue this piece of garbage.

DNF.

3.5 stars.

It's a reasonable guilty pleasure, with okayish characters and okayish dramas and a reasonable conclusion for the relationship. The main couple's mothers are surprisingly delightful in their drama queen's ways.

I would recommend the manga adaptation of this book, the artwork is good and somehow the manga-ka made the story looks more like a light-heartened comedy, in a good way.

Okay , so this is the first book in the trilogy "The Ramirez Brides" written by three different authors .

I don't think this is very entertaining or anything like that .

Nick wants to marry and have a child to fulfil his late father's will so that he can meet his half brothers whoes existence he just discovered through the will . Only woman who comes into his mind is Tessa .
So he sets a date for them to meet and discuss their marriage of convenience , but Tessa is the one who surprised him because she is already mothering his 2 month baby boy from their one night stand a year ago . So thats it , their ends all the surprises and twists .

Tessa is dealing with inferiority complex if you ask me , always underestimating her own potential and degrading her own self , never trusting hero about anything . Through out the book , hero is struggling to win her trust . Thats about it . Very simple and plain , a bit platonic maybe .

Second book is written by Michelle Reid , so I'm hopeful .

First in a series(the last one for me to review). There is a playboy father who spread his seed around to 3 different women across the globe. He is now dead(as far as I know not from a STD). Anyhoo, he has bequeathed millions to each of his 3 sons(who are not aware of each other). In his last will and testament, in order for them to collect the money(which none of them need) and learn the identity of each other, they each have a task to perform.

Nick, 34, our hero, is the only one to have ever met his bio dad. (The other 2 had no idea) His mom has been married multiple times and he was pretty much shoved to the side. The man he thought was his father ruthlessly rejected him when he was 7 and the mom married someone else. So our hero has issues. Of course, like so many of our alpha HP heroes, his issues manifest as a manwhore who can’t or doesn’t want to commit. His task is to marry and have a child within a year(no pressure)in order to collect money and learn who his brothers are. He, being independently wealthy, only wants the connection of his brothers. One prospect comes to mind for him…it is the daughter of the man who was once his stepdad.

Tess, the heroine, is late 20’s and wealthy and successful in her own right. The H and her has and still do business together. Although she is nice looking, she isn’t his usual flavor which is walkway model. However, they have a passionate one night together which involved more feely feels then our H wants to deal with, so he moved 0n quickly(1 day? 1 week?) to a model employed by the h. He tells himself he didn’t want to muddy the waters. She has her assistant take over future business with him and takes off for a bit to do business elsewhere.

He calls her up to ask her out so he can offer her marriage. He trusts her. And although he won’t admit or doesn’t realize it, his feelings for her go much deeper. She agrees to the meeting and has more to say on the subject…a lot more
. Things are going very well. Each have mothers that leave much to be desired. They have a very private deeply moving wedding ceremony with no friends or family present. The H is proving he has what it takes to be a good husband.

Then the black moment happens. His mother, who is little miffed at the whole private wedding, decides to see the h and tell her about the real reason of the H’s sudden wedding proposal. The h has worked hard to learn how to trust the H, and now just like that the trust is gone.

The H does a good job earning her trust back. The black moment doesn’t last too long and its a HEA. He has fulfilled the conditions in the will, and will get to meet his brothers(the money is going for an orphanage).

Nick is a sweet and sexy playboy who never got along with his father. When his father dies he states in his will that Nick has to get married and have a child within a year so as to inherit his money and meet his half brothers.

So he decides to marry Tess the rich heiress he had a one-night stand a year ago. What he doesn't know is that Tess was pregnant and had his baby and never told him about it because she didn't think a playboy like Nick would like the responsibility of being a father.

Emma Darcy never writes sex scenes in her books so this story lacks passion but the characters were interesting. Tess is a sweetheart, a loving mother and a great wife, just what Nick needs. Nick's interaction with his son and Tess is heartwarming and adorable!

Cute and fluffy read!

Despite all the H’s positive actions towards his baby son once he discovered him, I’m not sure I ever trusted the H enough to believe in him/them. It just seemed like a shoe could drop at any minute and you shouldn’t count on him long-term.

He’d had a ONS with the h, a business associate and somewhat of a ‘stepsister’ via their parents’ marriage only. He dumped her fast and immediately hooked up with another woman. He was with the OW for a lengthy period of her hidden pregnancy, so she didn’t feel there was an opportune time to tell him. It seemed like he was with several women during their year separation and it made any presumption that she was special seem false. She had wanted more but was well aware of his “tomcatting” as she put it to him.

They did marry for a host of reasons, but I just never believed in their relationship on any real level. Seemed like he was happy so long as he was getting regular sex. He didn’t seem to indicate any long-lasting feelings for her beyond staying married for their son. Plus, she was wealthy on her own, so he stated he was pleased he wouldn’t lose his money in a divorce. I just can’t recall any romantic gestures on his part, so they couldn’t have been impressive if they existed.

I didn’t really like this series much... it was meh to me. The ending of book 3 with the three half-brothers finally meeting was more interesting than most of the books’ content, but it was too short a part of it.

4 Stars! ~ Nick hated his biological father. When he was 18, he'd sought him out and been rejected. But family means everything to Nick, and he desires more than anything to meet his half brothers. But his father's instructions are clear. Nick's must marry and produce an heir with a year. Nick's never been one for lasting relationship, but he finds himself seeking out Tessa. They'd had a brief affair, and he'd ended it badly. Now's the time to make amends.

I think this was my favorite out of all the Ramirez series. It was great and down to earth, kind of 'fluffy' at times. The hero and heroine had great chemistry and were perfect for each other, plus that hot blood and temper in that latino male. It was a great story and well written!

The Ramirez Brides Trilogy is a multi-author written series. This is the first one and the other two books are: The Brazilian's Blackmailed Bride by Michelle Reid & The Disobedient Virgin by Sandra Marton.

I believe this one was the best in the series.

The Ramirez Bride, is the first Mills and Boon book l have read.
Did not know what to expect, the storyline was very weak no depth but the romance was ok.

Not much to talk on the storyline, the the basis of the story was a guy name Nick, received a letter from his estranged father, who expects him to abandon his reckless pursuit of pleasure if he wants to meet his long lost brothers.

According to the letter, Nick must find a wife and produce a child within a year.

I needed something light and quick to read, and recently cleaned 🧹 out my bookshelves, forgotten l had many books, books that have been hidden with other books, done a big clean up, so this is one of the books, that were forgotten.

I am willing to read another Mills and Boon book, and see what that is like, something to compare with.

Great story. I have a problem with the fact that there are two other books in the series to cover the two other half brothers. Each book is by a different author. OK when the stories came out but harder when it is a lot of years later. I look forward to finding the books and if the stories are as good as this one then "let the hunt begin". Nick legally changed his last name to that of his "real" father but he must've had his father's name changed on his birth certificate as well since he was born a Steele thus making him the (legal) half brother of Tess.

Interesting. Great Story line. Two individual from a problematic family. Nick and Tess don't believe in love after a their mother deceit. Nobody can't runaway when love knock at your heart. Now Nick must married and have a child within a year if he want to meet his half-brother. The 1st person comes in his mind is Tess.

In other hand, Tess have a big secret. Can this secret change their life and what will Tess do when she knew the real reason Nick approach her after so long.

Tess and Nick are very flirtatious with each other throughout the book. Mrs. Condor is a gold digger and very full of herself. I liked that Nick wanted to meet his other brothers, and Enrique 's will being read out by Javier Estes was my favorite. Overall this book was good, seeing as I just got back into reading this year.

A good book with plenty to pass the time with. Strong characters, emotions, steaminess, some angst and a good HEA. This was written well and kept me interested. Not a soul-sucker but it was a leisurely walk that sometimes if better for the mood.

So...

What should I say... I buy it just for one time thing and never want to think for a sequel. Imagine my felling at the end of the book when I FOUND it is the first of three books. Damn it. Now I wont get a peacefull sleep before I've read the whole Ramirez Brides series. Argh, They should print it at the cover. "First of three." So, people wont mistaken. Then, I wont buy it. I just want read a nice light romance book.

Nice story by the way.
A child can be so broken because their unwise parents. Well, it's part of this Kapitalisme system I guest. So glad it just a story to lighten Your heart. Cos in real live, such a chance to have a nice happy ending like that. Sorry, don't mean to be sarcastic. It's just what I fell. But, that's the exact point why I choose this book. I need something to lighten my felling. So, it's a nice book to read. Now, if I can get the other books it will perfect.
