Our country's leaders should read this one. It's a great reminder of why our nation was founded. We should all read this one and try to get back to our roots. "One nation under God" says the Pledge of Allegiance.

My favorite quote from this book is, "A country is only as moral and just as its people." I would go on to say that it's only as moral and just as its leaders, as well.

Listen up, America! Our forefathers have something to say.

Previewed the children's version for my daughter. We homeschool and for 5th grade she will be studying US History.

Recorded this as an audiobook for my grandchildren to help teach them the truth about the Founding of America. God had a plan for this land, and His hand is clearly evident in it's history.

I started reading this with my son and I think it is very good for children. As an adult, I am glad I also have the regular version of this book.
Not only does the book fill in some of the gaps in my public school education, but it also tells the story from a perspective I never heard in school.
If you want to balance what your children are being taught (or not being taught) in school or are looking for a quick overview or introduction for yourself, I think this is a place to start.

This book was good at making history a little more real for kids, and it really emphasizes God's hand in America's history. To me it seemed a little too biased at certain points (I feel bad saying it), but it definitely was refreshing to read a book that acknowledges and reveals God's hand in our history.

This book takes a look at the start of the United States from a Christian worldview. The premise of the book is that God has His hand in the creation of this country, but if you believe otherwise, you won't like this book. I enjoyed it and the kids did as well. The snippets of different events of history were told in a story-book fashion, not dry like a textbook.

This was just a great book about American history and how it was essential to have a Christian founding for the country to thrive. I learned some great things that are important for Children to know about our county.

I read this in maybe late-elementary or early junior high, & I remember liking it. Even though I went to a Christian school, we didn't really hear much on the spiritual side of these history stories. Our history books were still religiously-neutral.

I'd have to read it again to know whether I still liked it, but it was certainly vivid when I was itty.

Personally, I'm not a History person. I'm more for YA Fiction like The Hunger Games, Graceling, etc. but this wasn't horrible. For a History book, it was good!

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book to my children. One of the rare finds that shows God's providence in the birth of our nation. A GREAT perspective usually not found in history books.

I love anything by Peter Marshall. The activity book that goes with it is helpful for some children. Great book.

The book was about the discovery of the new world and the early events of it. It started with the life of Christopher Columbus, then told how the first settlements were made, and finally explained how people brought workers to America as the first slaves in the new world. I thought that this book was a bit boring because I don’t really like history, but if you like history you should read it.

I loved the content. There were several things mentioned that I had never heard before, especially in the story of Christopher Columbus. There needs a bit more descriptive - ness to the story telling. Example: Colors, smells, motion and sounds could have been added throughout the book to keep the reader more invested in the story line. All in all, a good read!

This was an informative overview of American history up to George Washington, written for 'tweens. I'd like to read the version written for adults.

I cannot lie, I completely expected this book to be racist. But it turned out quite good and I would have greatly appreciated it in middle school so 5/5.

This book was real fun to read. I am a history buff and STILL learned stuff! It's not a G rated book either. It's very detailed in the realness of war and difficult times.

This book is a must read for all Christian Americans. Why did people risk their lives and their comfort in Europe to come to the New World? They did it for freedom. Freedom to live as they wished and to worship God how they wished. We forget this, and allow our rights to be taken over and over again. I pray this is a beginning of a lifelong conversation for my kids about not taking our freedom for granted.

I appreciate the authors effort to tell America's story from the understanding that "God governs in the affairs of Man." But the writing itself was a bit dry for my taste.
