“Katya’s Busy Morning”

“Katya’s Busy Morning,” is about a mother tiger and three baby tigers. The mother leaves early in the morning to see if she can catch herself some breakfast. She thought she saw something in the grass, but really there was nothing there. She eventually gave up and went back home to protect her babies.

The characters of this children’s book are, Katya, the mom, and her three babies. The three boy’s names are Ivan, Oleg, and Yaakov. Katya was a very smart and fast. She was 10 feet long and 550 pounds. Katya can leap more than 30 feet, and she was also a great swimmer! She was a very original tiger; no tiger has the same stripes as another. She was a great mother to her three boys. She didn’t eat breakfast to go back and protect her sons.

The story took place on a warm spring morning in the forest. Of course it took place there, because that’s where tigers live. Adult tigers need their own territories including a forest area with plenty of food and water. The territory can range from 40 to 400 square miles.

I really liked this children’s book a lot. It was really interesting. It had facts about tigers on every page. I would recommend this book to anyone of any age that likes tigers. It was cute, with a lot of cool tiger pictures. I would give this book 5 star.

Katya’s Busy Morning is a story full of fun information and action filled adventure. The story is about a tiger named Katya and her three little cubs. Katya goes on a hunt to find a meal for herself. She is very hungry and the action and adventure come into play when the narrator explains what she has to do to get her meal. It is filled with excitement as Katya tries to find a meal. When Katya becomes concerned about her cubs’ safety, she returns to them without a meal for herself. She knows that they need to be fed. So the narrator explains how Katya puts her cubs first and how she knows she can find a meal later. The cubs are the most important thing to Katya and their safety and well-being is all that matters to her
This story has colors that really stand out and have underlying meaning to them. The yellow and black colors on the tiger represent danger to me. Usually, anything yellow and black or red and black means the animal is poisonous. A tiger is not poisonous, obviously, but from the way a tiger is built, every part of it shows some kind of fierce or dangerous nature. The colors and the stripes also characterize the tiger as majestic. The stripes amongst the tiger’s body seem as if someone had just painted them with great detail. The stripes make the tiger a unique creature of nature which in turn can be seen as majestic as someone takes a glimpse of it in its natural habitat.

With the illustrations in mind, the illustrator does a great job of grabbing a child’s attention. As you turn each page the images almost pop out at you like a 3D illusion. The illustrations having that effect can have the reader asking “what’s next?”. It has readers discovering all kinds of things with each turn of the page. The fact bubbles down at the bottom of each page also help inform the reader of what tigers are like and how they live. The story is not simply informative but it’s also fun to learn about.

As I was reading this story, I noticed the pictures were either digital art or photographic art. As I was flipping through each page, the story felt more like a video to me. The transitions from page to page were very smooth and they connected well. The movement in each illustration feels like a captured moment in motion. The reader can get so much out of the motions in each illustration. When the tiger leaps, you can tell it is about to attack something. When the tiger is swimming, you can see from the tired expression on her face that she had a reason to be swimming. The swimming illustration can also be a fascination to a child because many children grow up knowing that cats don’t like water. That illustration is a great learning opportunity. A story that teaches and entertains at the same time is worth the read.

Interesting story about a mama tiger going out to hunt for her breakfast before her baby cubs wake up. Since it's a kids' story, I wondered how that would work out, but there's nothing to fear. Nice touch with her nursing her babies at the end as well as tiger facts spread throughout the book.
