This book is written in both English and Spanish. Alien Invaders is an informative book about bugs that surround us. This book is great for ELL as the story is written in both English and Spanish, making this book is a big thumbs up. Especially, for a child who’s learning a new language. Alien Invaders, also has wonderful illustrations in each page. Overall, I believe this book is well written, and it’s such a great book to have in your classroom.
Read the bilingual copy. I really like the illustrations, and my students really enjoyed it. Though a very easy read - in English and Spanish - the book still managed to keep my audience engaged.
I expected to like this book a lot more than I actually did. The illustrations are very fun and have a fictitious feel to them. The story, on the other hand, is a little bit lacking. I felt as though this book was setting up for a nice introduction, but it awkwardly went from the first sentence of the book right into bugs in the garden. I also think that this book might send the wrong impression to kids about bugs and what they do, it really just highlights the creepy crawly aspects of bugs. In the end, though, the little boy decides he is going to befriend these creatures, just in case they are really aliens. Cute book, recommend for 1st-3rd grade.
Amazing illustrations and fun text, but there's one page that could be considered creepy to young children. It shows a close up view of a child's face with the bugs standing on his cheek. But then again, maybe I worry too much...
A boy describes the strange creatures that live in his garden, which his mother says are just bugs, but that he thinks may be invaders from another world.
I read the bilingual Spanish/English version to a group of first graders. They loved the text and the illustrations give a mild sci-fi feeling to the book.
This fun and exciting bilingual book will appeal to readers who are interested in insects of all kinds. This book would be a great addition to a science lesson on insects.
