Shara is- well let's just say touched. Born a Marine brat, Shara is a Navy Veteran with a pathological love for men in uniform, chocolate, and heroes that are maybe a touch psychotic. With over seventy-five books in her backlog, Shara has no intention of slowing down any time soon. She's definitely not safe for work, or the kids, or- you know what? She's just not safe.

Also writes as Allie Blocker.

I like the Chevalier series in general. I thought Rance's character could have shown more potential than the ability to use his 'appendage' so frequently and need 'it' so bad. Jade's character had a slow start from other that saying 'Yes' and being a whimpering fool all of the time. She didn't even come across as ditzy as I think the author wanted to portray. She was just...unaware of actually being a character of this book. How could she not know how Rance felt? Wasn't Jade present in the other books?

Also Rance didn't seem to have a life. He didn't act like a lawyer. I understand he was supposed to be the ultimate 'Alpha' but he fell a bit flat for me. And the added mystery was not a page turner for me. It just left a sour taste in my mouth. The dark life that Rance lived prior to Jade left scars but it read so disjointed that it didn't have much of a smoother effect.

I don't usually mind editing issues but when the first chapter just skips to a different character with no warning and repeats the same line over again as a transition (?) I actually do have a problem. Yikes.

SPOILER ALERT: The mistress scene was not needed. The threesome scene unnecessary because it was not written in well enough to support the story. I think a good editing before presenting the book might have finished this saga off with a bang. There were some unfinished questions like Remy and Rance's relationship - did they resolve the rift or not? Piers - why is he now a homicidal maniac all of the sudden? Wouldn't he have an issue with Jade prior to this book? Why wait until now. And my biggest pet peeve - time continuity. I have that more than bad editing. How are Thierry and Angel together for two years and her cousin Solange is only missing for 1 year? And if Thierry was in a relationship for 2 years wouldn't that make Regina a little bit more pregnant than necessary? How did she just suddenly go into premature labor? She should been pregnant for more than 11 months if we are following along with the 'timeline'.

Sigh, it was just so much missed potential.

This was the first book I ever read by Shara Azod, and I want me a Rance. I love the way he loves and desires her.

After rereading this book, Rance is ok, but Remy is the one I'd be most interested in.

I was waiting to read the story of Rance and Jade and wanted to know how they would win each others hearts.

What I liked about the story
While both Rance and Jade wanted to be with each other, both were afraid to express their feelings for each other.
The introduction of the Canadian branch of the Chevalier family and I enjoyed Jade's family
How Jade used her relationship with Didier to spur jealously in Rance which spurred him to realize that he might lose her
I liked the closess of the Chevalier cousins
I liked the longer length of the story

What could the author have done differently
I would have liked to see the scences of the wives/girlfriends in the kitchen with Theresa
I wanted to know a little bit more about how Angelique came to suspect Piers
I wanted to know more about Boden & Beaumont and what was Angelique's reaction to finding out about her cousin Solange

I hope this is not the end of the series and that there will be more to come with Didier and his family.

I like almost everything that Shara Azod writes.I am a huge fan of the Chevalier series. Thierry's Angel is my favorite one with Forever Jade as a close second. This book is very well developed and gives the most information about the entire Chevalier family while introducing some newer members. The remaining Chevalier books are a little to light on the same narrative detail, storytelling, and character build up that make the other 2 books so special. This is a great wrap up to the Chevalier series and probably should have been the last of a good thing but there are more offerings from this series.

Ok, so I tried, I really, really tried to read this book without slamming certain aspects of it, but, it's just not my cuppa.

I don't know if the amount of erotica/smut overtakes the actual story or what... All I can say is this, the pieces of Ms. Azod's story, do not fit together. Although this was a great concept to begin with, it needs work.

Giving this one 2 stars.

Let me just say, the very first book I read by Ms Azod was Thierry's Angel.I loved it. I later read all the books in the series and I am soooo in love with the Chevalier men. I hope that ms Azod keeps up with the story. I would love to have a love interest for Didier and his brothers. Great Books.

The Family is Complex

*****Spoilers*****

This is more a 3.5 I think. I really do have a soft spot for men who fall hard or are well beyond that over the girl. Jade and Rance are attorneys, apparently on opposite sides since they have come up against one another in court several times with Jade coming out the winner all but once. Rance for his part has been taken with Jade for years but has stayed away to keep his grandmother from doing something nefarious to Jade.

Jade is in denial about how Rance feels about her and doesn't think she's deserving of his attention or that of his cousin who's also interested. But once she accepts it, they go together very well, mostly with Rance being all over her. I thought it was odd that he would work inside of her office with her though, couldn't really get it. She has someone threatening her and trying to find out who it is turns out to be a bit of a challenge. With all of the family and relationships between characters, it seems like a large but close group which is nice. Makes me kind of want to read some of the other stories to see how the brothers and cousins got with their girls. In any case, Rance is very protective and possessive of Jade and once he finally allows himself to have her, there's no going back. The person who was getting at Jade turns out to be one of Rance's cousins, Piers. The why was tragic more than anything and he poisoned Jade which caused her to miscarry.

There were certain things that could use more explanation and the grandmother is one of them. Perhaps all the horrors she commits are covered in the other books, though pimping her underaged grandsons Rance and Piers out to her older friends so the boys can learn those friend's secrets was gross enough. It's sad for more than one reason, the least of which that it really messes both boys up, Piers to the point of some psychosis that goes hidden for years, the end result being his death in this one. He's not a huge character so nothing to really to be super upset over in that case, just how sad everything is. Jade's family's appearance is an afterthought, crazy because she talks to her mom everyday, except it's not acted out in the book at all. Rance was quick to open up to Jade, I thought too quickly for how he was bottled up and had never even dated a woman before her. Typos and grammar issues cropped up a few times, better scene separators, and I don't know if it was just my copy but there's a weird part where Rance is breaking it off with his mistress and the book jumps to Jade mid-paragraph. I flipped back and forth several times trying to figure out what had happened.

I did like the story in the end.

It was a struggle to read...sex sex and more sex and a bimbo heroine who walks in a cloud of oblivion. Don't get me wrong... alpha males are sexy as fuck but what the hell is this whole "i want to bang you" at every point ? I did not even feel the chemistry between the couple, just pure undiluted sex and it frustrated me because this book had potential to explore the couple's differing personalities outside of the bedroom.

I'm not sure if it's the author or the series that's lacking. This is the second book I've read in this series and both were subpar storytelling. I'm so over the inconsistent characterizations of her male characters:
1) For most of the book Rance is over protective, but the moment Jade gets sick he's all, I think I know what's wrong but I wont say anything. So are you a doctor now or have you been around enough pregnant women to assume that that's the issue.? A man who is as over protective as he and Theirry claim to be would be all over his girlfriend or wife if she were as sick as Jade was. He'd make her go to the hospital because he is dominant and overprotective.

2) You're girl is in the hospital because of some deranged person, but when you're cousin says "I know who it is, but I'll tell you later," you don't even bat and eye. *smdh*

Jade is such a Mary Sue. Don't get me wrong, I love a good girl; however, that doesn't mean that she can't have layers.

Lastly, know when a story needs to be stretched to tell the story completely and when to cut out filler. This book ran longer than it should have, and I stopped reading after apex.

This book is outside the genre I normally read. It was okay. I did not like the people in the story. It is some sort of soap opera. It seams you have to read the preceeding ones. That is not in my plans. I only finished it because it was on my Kindle. If it had come from the library, it would have gond back unread.

This was Rance and Jade's story. I could not understand for the life of me why Jane could not work out how Rance felt about her. He was on top of her the whole time. I really hated that Didier was hanging around Jane and almost challenging Rance for Jade's affections when Rance had loved her forever. I loved how every time she turned around he was there. I enjoyed their story.

I could not connect with the characters at all. Jade seemed extremely fake-her character does not seem true to herself.
