Born and raised in Arizona, I guess you'd call me a desert rat. Well, actually, I'd be a desert rat that loves the mountains and lakes. Arizona gives me great pleasure, because if I'm not at the computer writing or buried nose deep in a book you'll find me on a four-wheeler, or a jet ski, or being pulled behind my 26’ Monterey boat on an oblong tube called a ‘hot dog’ laughing my ass off. In fact, my family says I have an unnerving cackle cutting through the waves--similar to a witch!

Yes, that's right this witch has a family... Bill is my wonderful husband of twenty-two years. Tia, Samantha and Ashley are my three beautiful girls and my greatest accomplishments to date. And the light of my life is a devilishly handsome grandson, Dusty.

As writing is a passion with many—it’s an obsession with me. Who knew that the wild things going on in my head someone would actually read? But I'm thankful you do and I hope you find joy and entertainment in my sometimes—okay most of the time—risqué ramblings.

You know when you go to a Mexican restaurant and the waiter brings out one of those sizzling hot platters and warns you NOT to touch it? And then you can't help reaching out and touching it? So you basically end up looking like an idiot with a burnt finger and an excited smile on your face. (Or maybe that's just me?)

This book has that kind of sizzle to it. Not much plot. Not enough dialogue. But lots of hotness and plenty of nookie if that's your thing.

Found this to be very entertaining. The beginning "things" start FAST and I thought this was going to all about the number of sexual acts that could be performed between 226 pages. Thankfully, that was not the case. There was a nice story that unraveled as the author wove her tale. Nicely written, erotic, with the pour-single-mother-struggling-to take-care-of-sick-4-year-old-girl-in-need-of-a-heart-transplant-put-herself-through-college-(Engineering)-while-waiting-tables-at-a-rowdy-cowboy-bar. (whew!)

More than a few scenes had me sniffling, but the majority of the content was light or HOT. How events unfolded had the knight in shining armour tone that had me scrunching up my nose. I did enjoy this, but there were a few places toward the end that a caution flag went off for me with Wyatt's controlling personality. They had a red-hot sex life, but knew very little about each other...that, for me, was missing.

Also, the cover does not look ANYTHING like the character described in the book. Where did the arm band come from? Supposed to have dark chest hair. Yo! What's up with that faux pas?

4 ½ stars - Contemporary/Western Romance/Erotica

This is a quick, sweet, romantic read about a sexy, tenderhearted cowboy/engineering executive who falls head-over-boots in love with a selfless, struggling single-mom working as a waitress in a rowdy cowboy bar to put herself through engineering school while taking care of her sick 4-year-old daughter. You can’t go wrong with a hunky cowboy, a respectable heroine, some steamy hot romance, and a touching love story. Overall, it’s a moving, lightly erotic romance. And of course, the book cover isn't too shabby either!

Superhot and low/medium-angst romance between a cowboy and young single-mom; they meet at the bar she waitresses at. Its a ONS that evolves into something deeper trope which is my favourite. Both have alternate personalities too, H is also an executive and h is a college student in the day who is soon joining the corporate workforce and

I liked the h, she was strong, smart but also vulnerable, always put her sick kid first (who she loved more than anything) and took care of herself too. The H has a severe case of insta-lust and pursues the h, who is not averse to some passion distracting her from the struggles in her life. It takes almost the end of the book for H to admit to himself he is in love with h though, which I felt he could have admitted much sooner.

Also while this book had some very hot smex scenes, sometimes I felt they were too much or too often or something(lol, I can't believe I'm writing this!!). They bogged down the pace of the book.

The only major drama comes from the h's sick daughter, but alls well that ends well. 3.75 stars!!

1.5 stars but the cover is quite hot, so what the hell! Let's make it 2 stars.

Am I the only one who found this book utterly ridiculous??? Probably. It's the first one I read from this author and it didn't impress me at all. Actually the first third of the book wasn't too bad, but after that things went south pretty fast. There are so many wrong things in this story, I don't know where to start.

So, this two people meet in a bar, they want each other, they have a night of mind-blowing sex. That's when the weirdness begins.

1. The heroine's supposedly fallen for the guy two days later. TWO FREAKING DAYS. And they know absolutely nothing about each other, not even their surnames. They only had sex. I understand this is a romance, but in my humble opinion sex it's not enough to like someone, let alone fall in love with.

2. Again. What the hell is wrong with the majority of the female characters in Romancelandia??? They all melt at the sight of the hero. God forbid he opens his mouth to say something hot or he touches them, 'cause in that case they go all soft and warm and lost all their thinking abilities. Lacy here is no exception. What I'm trying to say is that Wyatt basically shuts her with is manly parts.

There are a lot of these scenes where Lacy disagrees with him/doesn't want to see him anymore/argues with him (no, wait a minute, she doesn't even do that) where Wyatt just kisses her into submission. Damn if it doesn't make me angry.

3. Everytime the author doesn't know how to keep the story flowing, she throws a sex scene here and there to divert the attention. VERY ANNOYING. Near the end I just skipped through them. Being an erotica book, the action speaks for itself.

4. I have a last question. Where was Lacy's child? She's the most important thing in her life and yet we see her only so Lacy can cry her eyes out in fear and desperation and Wyatt can fuck her and make it all better.

This book makes no sense whatsoever, it's just a big mess.

Lacey Mason has the whole world on her shoulders. Between her job, her sick child and a pain in the ass ex-husband, she is not looking for a man in her life...especially a cowboy.
Wyatt Anderson an ex-cowboy and full time executive, is mesmorized from the moment he spots Lacey working at the bar. Instantly drawn to her, he is overwhelmed with the need to protect her and to make himself someone she can rely on in her chaotic life.
This is a really good book. Both Lacey and Wyatt are very well likeable characters. Both have flaws, but the chemistry and the obvious LIKE then LOVE they have for one another was apparent throughout the book. Wyatt is truly a man's man. He is reliable, tough, easy on the eyes and has a very broad shoulder for Lacey to cry on.
I plan on checking out more books by this author. Her characters are very well developed and the pages sizzle with the sexual chemistry between Lacey and Wyatt. WHEW!

Part time waitress Lacy is working all the hours she can to pay for her very ill daughters medical bills. Her ex-husband doesn’t support them so her wages are split between paying the rent on her hovel of an apartment, paying for full time care for her little girl and paying the tuition fees for her engineering degree. In a nutshell, Lacy’s life sucks. One night, into the bar walks Wyatt, the tall dark cowboy described in the title. He decides he wants one night with Lacy and he manages to wangle his way into her bed, as she realises she really needs to cut lose. Unfortunately, Wyatt underestimates Lacy’s charms and one night just isn’t enough for him. Can he convince the sworn Cowboy hater to allow him into her life? When he becomes a support mechanism she has never had before, she starts to soften to the domineering Cowboy. Of course, there are lots more obstacles before the path to true love becomes clear!

Have you seen the cover? I mean wow...that’s art  . I won’t lie, the reason this book went to the top of the pile is that set of drool worthy abs. All that aside I did like this book. Lacy is everything a good romantic heroine should be. She is sweet, strong and independent (I hate stories where the heroine made out to be less of a person because she doesn’t have a man). She has had her fingers well and truly burnt by her loser-boy ex and Wyatt can never be anything more than a one-night stand because she will never put herself, or her daughter, in that position again. Wyatt doesn’t do much to help change her mind. He is a bit of a domineering arse at points and to be honest the reason that the book got three stars is because of his character. He constantly bosses her around, makes decisions for her unilaterally and has some strange compulsion about not wearing condoms because he wants “to feel the leather when I ride” (WTF? Seriously?!). I don’t have a problem with Alpha/Dom type male roles, but Wyatt made decisions about absolutely everything without ever consulting Lacy about whether she wanted him to. This, to me, isn’t the mark of a good partner so I had issues with him.

For all his faults, he is truly there for Lacy in a way she has never had before and I wanted to shake her for not accepting him. She sees him as a distraction that she doesn’t need, and seems to see herself as a woman with needs last. Wyatt’s stubbornness eventually starts to break through the lead lined walls she has erected. He sees that she’s drowning under the weight of all her responsibilities and worries, and is the only person in the entire book to show her any concern. The woman is truly alone and I have to say I had a few teary moments along the way. I couldn’t imagine having to struggle the way she obviously does, and who can blame her for getting some moments of pleasure with a hunky stranger. The sex scenes were well written, frequent and incredibly erotic (look out for a scene with his silk ties...I liked that one :D ). I have read a few of this authors books and one thing she is good at is making the chemistry sizzle!

I enjoyed the book but Wyatt’s attitude stopped me loving it. Lacy was a beautifully written character and, by the end of the book, I really wanted her to get her HEA. The ending was lovely and I am truly glad that Wyatt became the man I wanted for her.

Most of what I'd heard about this book was about the super stud-muffin beefcake on the front cover so I didn't really know what to expect from the book itself. But it turned out to be a pretty enjoyable read.

Series Note:
No series, as far as I know.

Summary:
Lacy Mason works at a local bar, trying to earn enough money to pay her ailing daughter's hospital bills and to put herself through college. She's learned the hard way to stay away from cowboys, but when Wyatt Anderson wanders in one night with the rodeo cowboys, her determination is seriously challenged. Wyatt turns her on like no guy ever before. His relentless pursuit convinces her to have a quick fling, after all, he'll be gone when the rodeo is done.

Or will he? Because Wyatt isn't a rodeo cowboy. He just does it for fun now and then and is really a local executive. Who just happens to work at the company that has hired Lacy to work for them after she graduates. The two are shocked to run into each other at the business and learn there's more to each than they thought. Wyatt wants a future with Lacy, but Lacy is wary. She's got too much on her plate as it is. Wyatt is determined to win her heart, though.

Review:
This book isn't like a lot of the super erotic kinkfests that you find out there in the erotic romance genre these days. It's more like an contemporary romance that has explicit scenes. I liked that. It made the book more well-rounded. There was a nice level of emotion, storyline, and sex to keep everything fairly balanced. It made the book very readable.

It was a good storyline, too. Some of it was fairly typical...the wary woman and the determined guy. But with the addition of Lacy's sick daughter and the job aspect of them working together, you get something different. It was a storyline that kept me reading. I did wish the epilogue had gone further into the future and given us a better idea of how Lacy's daughter was doing, but it wasn't a big deal. That's a tough storyline to deal with and I thought the author did a fairly good job with it, considering it was a short story and one focused on romance.

And the romance was good. I liked both characters. The chemistry was good and the sex was steamy. Fairly vanilla, but that's fine too. You can't have a kink fest in every book or it would get old.

It wasn't a perfect book, and not really for any specific reason. There could have been some more character development, more about who these two were as people, where they came from and all that, but that's to be expected with a shorter story.

Overall, I enjoyed it. I'm glad I finally got a chance to read it.

WARNING, this book contains: explicit sex and language, but nothing too over the top sexually.

This is a reread for me. It is hot, hot sexy cowboy story and starts very quickly. Similar to a Lorelei James Rough Rider story. Highly recommend if you like her alpha male, erotica style. I love it!

This was a very steamy story that I had a hard time putting down!

I do have a few comments, though.
1. Lacy is too perfect. She's beautiful, smart, hard-working, dedicated, and every man wants her. Her whole life is centered around her sick child, eschewing anything that would bring her pleasure. Well, everything except for Wyatt. And that was just a moment of weakness.

I wonder if it smells like perfume when she toots.

2. Wyatt is also perfect. A tall, sexy alpha male who is a VP of an IT-related business, owns a huge house (read "mansion") that's on a ton of property, which is also a working ranch. On the occasional weekend, Wyatt moonlights as a cowboy at the rodeo, competing in steer wrestling and bareback riding. He even gets up to feed the animals before he heads to his high-powered job. There few things one could take issue with, which are his high-handedness (is that a word?) and his possessiveness. Since the stories I read contain alpha males almost exclusively, that didn't bother me. What did bother me was his near desperation to be with Lacy ALL the time. One is constantly bombarded with his obsessive thoughts. Quite frankly, I'm surprised he got any work done. Anytime he was spoken to he was daydreaming and getting an erection.

Down, boy.

3. Lacy's "dangerous" and possessive ex-husband fizzled out. He was hyped as a man with a hair-trigger temper, yet all he did was hold Lacy a little too close for a little too long while trying to get back in her panties. His last confrontation with Wyatt ended with the ex walking away without a real fight. Just disappointing.

4. A potential storyline with a busybody co-worker went untouched. Of course, the story would have gone on much longer, but still! It's just sitting there! Don't tease me!

5. This is just a continuation of number 1.
Lacy claims not to have any sexual experience beyond her ex. She screws like a porn star, though. Not to say you couldn't learn that in one monogamous relationship, but jeez, even Wyatt makes a mental note about that!

These things are all offered in an attempt to be objective. Now I'm going to ignore all that and say that I loved this story! My only real beef is Wyatt constantly thinking about getting into her pants. It started to creep me out near the end.

Despite that, it's good story that holds my attention and has plenty o' hot sex. Me like.

Waiting tables in a bar full of no-good cowboys isn't Lacy Mason's idea of fun. But between her daughter's illness, endless doctor bills, and her college tuition, she needs the money. What she could really use is a night of no-holds-barred passion and no-strings-attached sex.

Daring and assured one moment and hesitant the next, it's as if something haunts her. Only willing to give him one night, Lacy clings tightly to her secrets. Unfortunately for her, what Wyatt wants, Wyatt gets. And he definitely wants Lacy!

So, this was a sweet and heart warming story, between two people that down under only want another person to love and fulfill their lives with.
This one comes with a bonus, a child that can challenge a relationship and the pursuit of character to take on such a heavy weight and such a responsibility.

After having read the book, I couldn't stop thinking that this story reminded me of Cinderella, the poor girl that lived abused by her stepsisters and in the end married the prince.

Sometimes life is hard and the circumstances that are presented to us are not so pretty.
Lacy has been through a hard road, alone, raising a sick child, and money-less, but her spirit is of a warrior so she fights. She pushes forward, making her goals verge with the needs of her daughter and fighting for her dreams to come true.

I liked Lacy a lot, she was a combative character never backing down, very well defined in her needs and goals, independent and a hot woman, unashamed of her sexuality.

Wyatt, our cowboy, was the no jerk man, the hot cowboy we all love, a sensitive man, a no beat around the bush guy, he wants, he takes, and when he can't have it all, he'll find a way to get it all. I like it like this.

Wyatt was the guy that was very mature and that was well explained through the story. He was understanding, a true male having all that a woman wants as a companion by her side.

Their encounters were hot. All most like two sides of a coin coming together, all of this was very well written and the thread of the story never got lost in my mind.

If I'd had to have a one night stand with a man, definitively, it would be this cowboy, yes sir!

This isn't really a proper review. Just a summary of all the funny parts..This is my first Mackenzie McKade book, and the only reason i picked the e-book up last night was because it was only 139 pages.
This book doesn't really fall into erotica for me, although there is quite a bit of mattress tango in here, its written pretty well. There's a pretty good story actually. So for all of you who want to know more..presenting the parts that made this book ...umm..memorable?

This one while in bed - I'll add a couple of lines before it as well, so you know the whole story:
“You’re a devil,” she muttered, wanting, needing more of the sweet, sweet pain.
A lethal grin flashed for just a second. “Uh-huh,” he replied, before adding, “Can I poke you with my pitchfork?”

Internal monologue #1:
They fit together like a baseball in a catcher’s mitt. Like a golf ball in the eighteenth hole. Briefly, he considered sharing his analogies with her, then hesitated. Most women didn’t appreciate the analogies men made between them and sports.

“Every time I look at you I’m bewitched.” Now what guy talks like this? Ofcourse i immediately thought of the television program … and all the buildup between the two of them fizzled out with images of the Samantha twitching her nose in my mind

After unprotected sex (because stories like these need to have atleast one scenario of it):
Wyatt: "From now on my sword will wear the shield of death."

Internal monologue #2:
He wasn’t someone who fell in love quickly. Shit, he was an engineer. There was a process, procedures to follow. Time was required – This was funny when I was reading it.

There were a lot more..but i fogot to note all down
This really was a lovely story though. These are two very strong, passionate and caring characters. Worth reading actually

Unfortunately, I didn't think there was much substance to this story. Wyatt and Lacy had zero chemistry and I thought things progressed very quickly. Wyatt was a bit too cave-man for me by making decisions regarding Lacy's career without discussing it with her. I also found the sex scenes to be pretty boring and I ended up skimming them.

Lacy works in a rowdy bar, driving the bucking bronco machine for drunken cowboys in between waiting tables and serving drinks. She catches the eye of Wyatt, drinking in there with his buddy, Chance.

Earlier, he’d noticed she had refused the attentions of a young cowboy, making it perfectly clear she wasn’t available or interested. But now she caressed each man with a smile that made Wyatt reach down and adjust himself as he hardened.
Was she a cock-tease? Did she simply get off leading a man around the room by his dick?

When he sees her eyes light up as the tips get more generous, he pegs her as money-hungry. But still, he’s interested. Especially when she accepts a dare to ride the mechanical bull herself.

Greed was a turnoff, but the fact was, Wyatt wouldn’t mind watching her ride either. He stepped out of the shadows and pushed his way to the front. Chance followed.
From his pocket Wyatt extracted a hundred dollar bill and held it high in the air. “Here’s another hundred.” He paused for effect. “If my math’s any good, that’s $160. How about it, Laaacy?” He placed deliberate emphasis on her name as he wiggled the dinero invitingly.

She lasts the full eight seconds of the ride, much to the delight of the crowd. She doesn’t notice Wyatt approaching.

“My turn.” The whiskey-smooth voice played havoc with her senses. She felt each word slide seductively down her spine.

When he matches her ride, she can’t help herself and accepts his offer to meet when her shift finishes. They go back to her apartment together for what turns out to be fantastic sex, only she gets cold feet afterwards. She’s not used to one night stands – he’s only the second man she’s ever slept with – and she fears that she feels too much for him. She fell for a cowboy once before and vows never to make that mistake again.

For a moment he was speechless. Then he asked, “Lacy, do you want me to leave?”
The thread of hope he’d held ont0 broke when she muttered, “it’s probably for the best.”

I was pleasantly surprised by the layers in this story. Lacy has a desperately sick young daughter in hospital and a crazy ex-husband, neither of whom Wyatt is aware of at first.

There’s another complication too. Lacy is due to start her new job at the nearby Semiconductor plant, only to find that Wyatt is the Vice President and her bosses boss. She’s longed to see him again, but not as one of his employees – and she can’t risk her job, not when she has so many medical bills to pay.

Overall, I really enjoyed this story, mainly because the writing was so fluent and carried me along. The plot was a little clichéd though, and that’s why I’m only giving it four stars. Impoverished mother. Sick daughter. Lover turns out to be her super-wealthy boss. Ex-husband is mad jealous. But somehow, Mackenzie McCade wrapped it all together into an exciting, sexy read. Four out of five stars.

Lacy is a single mother with a daughter who needs a heart transplant. She's finishing her bachelor's in electrical engineering and paying bills in the meantime by working as a waitress. She meets Wyatt, a cowboy but also a very successful businessman, at the bar one night and they're so attracted to each other that he ends up going home with her. Despite her busy life and stress, they start a relationship.

This one had a lot of themes that I just don't like, for instance Lacy getting wet every time she looks at him, that first night. I can't stand a) that sort of imagery and b) heroines who react that way to the hero. I just don't find it particularly believable and it kind of disgusts me. I also found Wyatt pretty high-handed. In one scene, when he mistakenly believes that she's still married, he kind of manhandles her and just assumes the worst of her. No matter how irresistible Lacy found him, she never should've accepted his, "Sorry, you make me crazy." That's not sexy, it's scary. Then later, when he forgets to use a condom, she forgives him almost immediately, even though she's got financial worries and a very sick kid. What's more, when she even starts getting slightly upset about it a few minutes later, he says to her, "Calm down." Isn't that hideous? Then he messes with her job, without even asking her, to facilitate their relationship. And every time, she just takes it, either because he's super-sexy or because before she can angry, more bad news comes in regarding her daughter. I also found his tenderness toward her daughter kind of annoying. I mean, that's real sweet and all, but it felt contrived, like an awkward device the author constructed to show us what a great guy he was. I guess I can say that same thing about Lacy's incredible devotion to her daughter. Again, not that she shouldn't care about her sick little girl, it's just such a corny cliche and I wanted to roll my eyes every time her knees felt weak because she got more bad news pertaining to her daughter. This book was simply not my cup of tea and I had to skim the love scenes. They weren't graphic or anything, just boring and lacking in the internal monologue and dialogue that makes that sort of reading interesting to me.

Wow...this was one spicy~hot emotional read!!! Loved it!! I say that the story was emotional because of Jessie's illness and the intense emotions between Lacey and Wyatt that seemed to leap off the pages. So good!! I was immediately drawn into the story and didn't want it to end. I had so much fun reading this story and rooting for Lacey, Wyatt and Jessie to all get their HEA.

I loved Lacey~she was such a strong character. Between caring for her daughter, dealing with her ass~hat of an ex-husband, working, going to school and just existing~she definitely deserved some of Wyatt's attention!! I loved that she allowed herself to indulge in him and when she got nervous and thought to back out, Wyatt wouldn't let her. I enjoyed reading their relationship grow from what was supposed to be a one-night stand into something so much more.

Wyatt was definitely A Tall Dark Cowboy!! OMG...the SMOKING HOT sex in this book about did me in!! In the shower, bed, tailgate of his truck (that was a good one), storage room at the bar, etc.. and Wyatt was like a marathon man!! *shivers* My lap top was definitely sparking!! lol ;) I loved his character and the little twist in the story in how Lacey didn't realize exactly who or what Wyatt really did and he didn't know that Lacey wasn't just a waitress. So good!! I was biting my nails waiting for them to find out about the other. I loved how shocked they both were when they first met at his office. I also love how truly acceptable Wyatt was of Jessie and how he genuinely wanted to help Lacey and be a part of their life.

This story had the best ending~adorable and hot at the same time!! Just a great entertaining read that I enjoyed so much and definitely left me smiling at the end. This is a keeper and a definite reread for me. Loved it!!

5 out of 5 rating!!

Whoo Hoo. Five big Yee Haws, ya'll!

If the title doesn't get ya, the story will. Talk about yummy characters! Absolutely delicioso. This story is built on strong characters, some seriously dangerous chemistry, and a lack of communication (because they are too busy pawing each other).

Bar maid Lacy is used to fending off all the advances of her customers, but for the first time she is unable to say no when tall, dark and hubba-hubba Wyatt makes his move. The last thing she should be doing is a cowboy. She's been down that path and has the divorce and unpaid child support bills to prove it. But I'm with Lacy, he's just too much to resist. If you are going to finally break down for a fling, he is the way to go.

Little does she know, that cowboy whom she thinks is just in town for the rodeo is a local boy and a VP at a major corporation—exactly what her heart has dreamed of. Add to it his support and steadfast reliability as Lacy faces her daughter's continued failing health, and Lacy has found the makings of the perfect man if she'd open her eyes and see he's not a one night (oops, I mean two…no three… aw heck, I lost count) stand. This is love being blind (and uncommunicative) in the wrong way.

These are two characters to cheer for with so many twists and surprises your head will spin with glee. I found it to be a happy read and most definitely a hot read. This one works for cowboy lovers and non-cowboy lovers alike. Enjoy!

This is definitely a hot book. Not for the timid and certainly not for the faint at heart. Expect explicitely hot sex, great characters and storyline and you won't be disappointed!!! The main focus is on why Lacy holds back her feelings and emotions after having a one-night stand with Wyatt and not wanting to get involved with another cowboy. Yes the story's speed is fast, and the sex scenes aren't all long in length, but there is plenty of sexual tension and sexual moments varying in length throughout the book.

I enjoyed this story. Had some emotional moments that tugged on motherly heart strings. After reading other reviews I wasn't certain if I would enjoy the book, but was pleasantly surprised.

Well that was a whole lot of dull. There was nothing engaging about the story or characters. It’s was all bland. I wanted to care about the heroine but she really didn’t seem to think much about the rest of her life while with the hero. Hero is just kinda there. The sex wasn’t sexy but quite repetitive that lead no where.
