It Gets Better

Rate this book
High school was supposed to be the best time of my life, until it wasn’t.

With a dysfunctional family, a mean girl out to get my spot on the volleyball team, and no chance of my quarterback crush noticing me, high school is shaping up to be my worst nightmare instead.

Now the mean girl is turning my friends and coach against me. My parents are more controlling than ever. And then I blow out my knee during a game, ruining my chance at a scholarship, my only ticket out of this town.

The one thing going for me? I suddenly have two guys interested in invisible me–the gorgeous quarterback and an adorable guy just as driven as I am.

Will they help me find my confidence and a way out of this small town, or will another heartbreak just be the rotten cherry on top of this horrible year?

It Gets Better includes the complete collection of Skye’s story in the Texas High Series, including Chasing Skye, Becoming Skye, and Loving Skye.

This book was cute. It was 3 books in one. Chasing Skye, Becoming Skye and loving skye. Part 1 is about Skye trying to find herself without having friends, her family is not very loving and he sister ignores her. It is also about Skye and how this girl is out to get her because she got that girls position in volleyball. Shelby is the girls name. Shelby takes the joy of volleyball from Skye. It use to be her safe place and Shelby is doing everything to make Skye look bad when playing volleyball by going after all the balls that come toward Skye. Shelby also eventually turns almost everyone against her as well. Skye is trying to learn to stand up for herself.

Part 2: This part is about Skye trying to her become who she is. Skye ends up meeting a boy named Andrew who makes her feel special. Also her crush is finally noticing her and asks her on a date. There comes a time when she has to choice between the two of them. She also gets hurt during Basketball season and thinks her dreams of getting a scholarship is out of the question. Skye doesn’t really know how to accept someone telling her she is beautiful and trying to make her feel like she is special. I think that is partly because of her home life.

Part 3: Skye’s sister comes home with a secret of her own. Hey sister try’s to tell her that love is hard and complicated and all guys want is sex. Andrew gets skye and her family into this chili competition and it brings her parents closer to each other more than ever. Skye and her sister decide to join in on the fun and make their own chili for the competition. Skye ends up finding out what brought her sister home and wants to help her sister out. She ends up taking her to where her husband is at a concert and tells her you can go in and tell him or drive away. She gives her sister the truck and her savings to help her sister. When she comes back home her parents are mad and the guy of her dreams is mad she couldn’t trust him enough to tell him. Skye ends up realizing how much she cares for him and tries to figure out how to win his trust back. She realizes that she needs to love herself before she can really love the boy. She ends up knowing how much this guy means to her and wants him to forgive her.

This bool wad good. It's about finding yourself. :)

Honest review

I love this author. I have loved all of her books that I have read, but that being said I loved the female lead in this book, but not the book itself. This one had a lot of potential and parts of it I really loved, but it just seemed to unfocused in places and it would knock me out of the rhythm of the story.
