I have not read something so beautiful but so dark at the same time. It gave me shivers. The realionships/friendships between the characters felt real. It showed how easy it is to affect someone. Dorian was the best character that I have ever read about. He started off as naive and shy kid, but after meeting Harry and taking interest in his philosophy, which was hedonistic life. His power over Dorian at the beginning was massive. Becoming the symbol of someones elses beliefs and life style. Dorian changed. He became dark and cruel and secretive. His soul was dark. But what surprised me the most, even when Dorian had killed some people, lied and lived a fake life, he still at the end figured it out, how he wanted that fake and dark life that he lived end. He wanted to becaome good again. People can be changeable but not completely. 10/10 recommend
This book certainly gave me pause to think. I have seriously considered selling my soul to the Devil for eternal youth for quite some time. I have even entertained the idea of posting it for sale on EBay. The urge has become stronger as I have encountered the unpleasant effects of aging. Of courseI wanted to retain the rights to my brain/experiences to date as part of the deal. I now have some serious reservations based on the consequences detailed in this book. This is my first exposure to Oskar Wilde and I thoroughly savored this book. I highly recommend it for general good reading and especially to those who have considered selling their soul.
