This is the first time I have had the pleasure of reading Kathy Kulig’s work, and it will not be the last. In this short, we meet a female nature witch, Jaida, who works as a biologist. She has a dragon companion Kai, who changes forms twice a year and becomes a sexually insatiable man, who must feed that lust or die. In the “in-between’ Jaida re-encounters an old flame in Captain Brayden Stokes, a space captain. Long ago Jaida and Brayden had an attraction, and the flames have not lessened one bit. But her little planet hideaway is the perfect place to keep Kai safe and alive.
The tension between the characters is palpable; the steam fairly rises off the pages, even as the secrets and questions are building to a final confrontation. Jaida is afraid of giving too much to Brayden, her heart and loyalties lie with Kai. But, that attraction is one that is hard to deny. To top it off, Kai will soon change into his ravenous self, if Brayden hasn’t flown off planet things could get sticky. Or interesting. Or, interestingly sticky.
Well-crafted characters that arrive with complexity that is wholly real and well-developed despite the shortness of the story add to the story, making the tensions and attractions, and understanding them an easy task. With steamy ménage and interesting tender moments between the characters, you can’t help but appreciate the story, and not know just who to root for. A few cleverly inserted twists made this a page turner, full of story, heart and heat with intriguing world-building that give that otherworldly feel without becoming muddled or confused. A really good read with something for every reader of erotic paranormal, even with the short length: there is a complete story here with satisfaction for all.
I received an eBook copy from the publisher for purpose of honest review for the Jeep Diva. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
Dragon Witch is an out of this world story, thats fun and very hot! I truly enjoyed excellent short story, that’s mixed paranormal and fantastica. If you like action, adventure, emotions and hot sex with some m/f/m action this maybe for you. I loved both the hero and heroine with the added dragon, that at a point will surprise you for what he really is. Kathy knows how to write a short Novella that makes since and fun with added surprises.
I loved the concept of this book, and enjoyed the fast-paced story. The book packs lots of heat and is geared for adult readers who like a gereous sprinkling of explicit sex along the sci-fi fantasy adventure, and other-world settings. Brayden was hard for me to like, even though his reasons were honorable, his actions often made me grit my teeth in frustration. I would not have been nearly as forgiving as Kai and Jaida since he so arrogantly played them both when he should have been more trusting.
The book was easy to read, and entertaining. The imageries were vivid yet succinct, sometimes rather poetic, without becoming overly descriptive or tedious. I particularly loved the action and adventure aspects of this novel tale.
Loved this shifter story about a lone dragon named Kai. The pace moved smoothly, Jaida, Brayden and Trent were easy to attach to, action was exciting and the details of the environment painted a great picture of a fantasy world. There was some fire too and not just from the dragon! I would definitely like to read more of this author's books. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Five stars.
I received Dragon Witch as a free novella from the author (BookFunnel). The gifting did not determine the review/rating, which reflects my honest opinion. I would have skipped reviewing this book if I'd realized it was only a novella (roughly, 100 pgs) and more in the Sci-Fi erotica genre than PNR (Note: The retailer blurb is more comprehensive than the shorter one I received when approached by the author to review, which is why this review doesn't reflect my disappointment with a heavy erotica influence in lieu of a stronger story line and more relationship development). Dragon Witch was a good read with an interesting central conflict, sex scenes are good, I simply wanted more story-- a more complex plot with sharper character dynamics. Definitely some lost potential for a full length story, as the writer has a terrific concept and great imagination.
Brayden is a nice guy who occasionally does bad things. Jaida is a talented, misunderstood woman who is willing to lie to save the people—or animals—she loves. Together they have great chemistry. Add to that a shape-shifting dragon who needs to change shape and mate twice a year and you have a really unique ménage story that entertains from start to finish.
I was really impressed with this book and with this author. I’ll be checking out her writing in the future.
This story has a little bit of something for everyone. A futuristic setting, lush- erotic scenes with paranormal and fantasy elements. Now normally I'm not a fan of threesomes, but this one worked for me. All the different elements sucked me in. Dragon Witch is one hot story. I loved this one. It was sexy, sweet and definitely an adventure. The situation between the witch, dragon-shifter and the fleet captain was intriguing. The ending perfect.

Captain Brayden Stokes loves to fly his ship the Zepar. Being that he's way out in the outer rim of the solar system so he has to do what he's told by his Commander and his Commander likes money anyway he can get it. Doesn't matter if it's legal or illegal 90% of the time it's illegal. Brayden lost his pilot license he would do anything to get it back. But I can he live with the deception? Jaida Chel is a Biologist plus a Witch on the Planet Somerled. She loves to mix a little science with magic. She lives on the outskirts of town far away because on the planet before this things happened and the people still don't trust her. Kai is a Dragon Shifter plus the last of his species. The question is did he protect Jaida or did Jaida protect him? A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.
**Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy of this book.**
A steamy read with secrets, sex, and dragons!
Brayden is in a bit of a pickle. He's lost his pilot license at the worst possible time, when a volcanic eruption is about to wipe out a whole group of people on another planet. In order to get to them in time, he'll have to barter with a wicked captain and betray someone he cares deeply about. He just hopes the plan will work. And that his woman might forgive him some day.
Jaida is thrilled to see Brayden again, but she's hesitant to pick up where they left off. She knows he won't be staying, despite his claims, and his leaving will break her heart all over again. But even though he's clearly keeping secrets, she has a few of her own. And they're really big...and just might breathe fire too...
When I first read the blurb for this novella, I thought, "What in the world?" and re-read it just to be sure that I wasn't seeing things. Yes, this book really is a mixture of sci-fi space themes and fantasy dragons. I was immediately intrigued by the idea and decided to read/review it. I'm glad I did because this was a fun book.
Despite the length, there is a lot of story told here. We move around quite a bit and the pacing was just quick enough to keep me engaged but not too fast to where I couldn't keep up. There were some surprises tossed in there too. Definitely didn't see the one about the dragon coming. Whoa.
I liked both of our main characters who had a bit of history with each other. They also had great chemistry and a whole lot of naughty fun together. While some might be irritated by Brayden's keeping secrets from Jaida, it didn't really bother me. They each had some truths to tell throughout the story. I sped through this novella and wanted more in the end. That's usually a good sign.
In closing... I can't wait to see what happens next in the series and which worlds we get to explore. Four suns!
