A unique self-help book for individuals over fifty offers practical advice for staying sharp and alert of mind, showing how increasing age does not have to result in feebleness, poor health, or lessened mental or physical flexibility. Tour.
This is a great reference of information and tools for keeping your mind alive and fresh. A book about thinking, it is practical rather than theoretical and provides tools to use in exercising your brain. Starting with reassurances that the aging brain does not automatically decline if it is used; the author gleans evidence from her research to show how to avoid some of the pitfalls that are commonly thought to occur when your brain, along with your body, grows older. The section on the brain provides an overview of the basics and an introduction to "mental sharpness". A section provides the tools to improve that sharpness; but the best section is the bibliography which allows you to dig deeper into the literature on the mind and do your own research. I enjoyed this book as an introduction to the subject of the mature mind.
