Ballerina by day.

Selling my virtue by night.

Left penniless by my bully of a mother, with my little sister to take care of, I have no choice but to sell the privilege of being my first to the highest bidder.

That’s where Lucas Fordham comes in.

Gorgeous, athletic, and dripping with more money than he knows what to do with.

He spots me from across the room at a dark club. And he offers me an ungodly price for the privilege of being my first.

The only catch is that he isn’t paying for himself.

No, he’s demanding an act of sexual espionage. He wants me to extract information from a business rival. But the way Lucas looks at me … the way his touch burns my bare skin …

I feel naked and ready to combust every time our gazes meet. Breathless, I agree to play his games. But I know all too well the price of this infatuation. And the toll that it could take if I were to fall into Lucas’s arms.

This story takes place in the Broken Slipper world. While listening to The Patron is not necessary to enjoy this story, it is recommended.

Story: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3.5)
Trope: Instalust
Angst: 😰😰😰
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
TW: sharing scene that's not a sharing scene 🤷🏻‍♀️ (explanation in comments)

Possessive was a short and sexy novella by Vivian Wood set in the Heaven and Hell world. This one really just wasn't for me, but the two main characters definitely had great chemistry and the story was pretty interesting. I had a hard time liking either of the main characters who both seemed very cutthroat. I will say that Manon grew on me over time due to her love for her sister and Lucas did a great grand gesture to overcome for his misdeeds, but it was just too little too late for me. I think that maybe the story was just too short for me to connect with their redemption? I'm definitely open to giving Vivian Wood another try though.

You have to suspend belief a little for this book but overall it was a sinfully dirty billionaire-virgin erotica

This is book 6 in the Black Heart Romance presents Heaven & Hell Series and set within the Broken Slipper world. You do not have to read the previous books, in either set, to understand this story. I haven’t read the trilogy and still connected with the story and characters easily enough. As for the club, each book has mentioned an employee or encounter from the club nothing more.

And actually you might be better off not having read the previous book in the Heaven & Hell series because I found it disappointing that the club in this story was called Heaven instead of Purgatory. For the last 5 books we got to spend time in the version of Club Purgatory that we were introduced to in book 1 Heaven.

😢 mild cliffhanger ending, no update on future books
🥵 dirty talking H
🩰 virgin ballet dancer h
🔥 purity auction at a sex club
🔥 indecent proposal from H towards the h
🥴 sexual espionage - H used h to gain intel on an enemy

Manon is a 19yo dancer with the NY Ballet. Having been abandoned by their mother, she and her younger sister are barely making ends meet. So when a fellow dancer mentions Club Heaven she begrudgingly ends up in an auction selling her virginity.

When Lucas Fordham stepped foot into Heaven he wasn’t expecting more than the opportunity to fuck over an enemy, Godric Laarsen. Instead he attended a purity auction and when he saw Godric eye fuck Manon on stage, Lucas found something too sweet to pass up. Cue the indecent proposal. He buys her virginity for $1M, in a private deal, and then coerces her into becoming his spy.

Here’s the problem, we never see resolution on that spy work. And thankfully during the course of her botched mission she never actually has sex with Godric. She only gives him lap dances as he pleasures himself.

This rating lost a star because I abhor the idea of buying paradise and the fact Lucas found it an acceptable token of love pissed me off!! What the hell ever happened to giving flowers and jewelry. Is that too pedestrian for the rich 🙄 I mean visit Hawaii, buy a modest vacation home, shit even build a home on 1-2 acres of land but don’t go try to BUY a city!! No idea what I’m referring to, here’s the link to one example from a 2021 article by Hawaii News Now. There’s also the fact that Larry Ellison from Oracle, owns 98% of the island of Lanai, with the remaining 2% owned by the state and private parties. Hawaiians aren’t able to afford houses in Hawaii because they’ve been priced out with the average home costing $1.3M in September 2021 🤬 and its a bone of contention for me as a Native Hawaiian.

Plus here are two more articles from different Hawaiian Islands:
"The average price of Maui County homes bought by Mainland residents ranged from $1.4 million to $1.8 million in the first three quarters of this [2021]." HNN Link

"The median sale price of a single-family Kauai home jumped 57% in November [2021] from the same month in 2020 to $1.2 million, according to real estate firm Locations. Statewide, the median climbed 16%." HNN Link

In the first couple of lines, I already wish this book was longer

I liked the fact that the FMC wasn't a broke person. She was actually rich and have a lavish lifestyle that she can't maintain So that is the reason how she end up in the club. She gives me bitchy upper class vibes and I love it.

The MMC is the usual dominant possessive obsessive, but he made a statement that being rich keeps him safe. So he does not think anyone is gonna get rid of him.And that makes a lot of sense on why these men in the club behave disgustingly entitled.

For such a short romance book, the world building is great. It's so immersive. I actually want to know more of each character that is mentioned in the book.

The club was very interesting. There are a lot of different levels that I won't mind getting more details about even thou it is scary reading about it.

Quick and dirty!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 🩵🖤❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙
World building: 🌏🌍🌎
Character development: ☹️☺️😍
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Dual Narration

This was a short audiobook at only about 3 hours running time. The story was ok, but nothing original. The heroine Mannon was a nineteen year old professional ballet dancer who grew up wealthy and is used to her mom footing the bill for her life, but when her mom up and leaves, she suddenly has to pay for everything herself, including rent on a fancy New York apartment and private school for her younger sister. So she goes to get a job at a sex club where she could make a lot of money as a dancer, but decides to auction away her virginity when she finds out how much more she could make for that.

The Hero, Lucas, is a billionaire CEO who has a ton of money but got embarrassed in front of his board when some guy short sold his company stock so he wants to get back at that guy. He finds the guy at the same sex club and when the guy wants to purchase Mannon’s virginity, Lucas jumps in and gets it first.

Like I said, the virgin auction is nothing new but is always kind of a fun trope and as expected, the book was a bit smutty but overall I liked it. The character of Mannon was a bit of a conundrum since she said she had learned to be kind of cutthroat in ballet and even her friend who got her the job at the sex club said she was a b*tch. Though she didn’t really seem that way to me.

This audiobook was in dual points of view via dual narration and was narrated by Heather Firth and Tor Thom. I really enjoyed the narration and like both of these narrators. Tor Thom has a super deep voice and Heather Firth has a soft, feminine voice that is very pleasant as well.

This was a miss me unfortunately. The story is a bit of a mess. I can see that if it had been longer it might have been better. Given the brief length the depth just wasn’t there.

The story is called Posessive and *ultimately* H (Lucas) does end up living up to the title but too little too late, in my opinion.

The h, Manon, is in a situation that she’s desperate for money. It’s kind of vague with a missing mother that’s never resolved and mysterious debts that are never explained. She goes for a waitressing job and ends up in a virginity auction - but the auction was just a preview of girls with the actual auction taking place shortly thereafter.

In the meantime, Lucas directly purchases Manon’s virginity. Actually he says he wants a week with her. After their first time he says he wants to use her for sexual espionage against the other guy who wanted to win her virginity at auction. She’s mad but ultimately agrees. Do you see how that is the opposite of possessive behavior.

Off she goes, OM wins auction but doesn’t go after her non existent vCard immediately. He gets a lap dance and jerks off. Then leaves to go to Paris with his wife.

She sees Lukas again who wants to bang (which technically he “paid” for a week) but she says no and he offers her another million to bang him in the bathroom of club. She still says no.

Ultimately, she ends “choosing” OM despite wanting Lukas because he keeps sending her to OM to spy. BTW, there’s no resolution to the spy plot or OM.

The OM drinks himself to sleep once instead of taking the nonexistent virginity he paid 5 million to take. H finally comes through in the end but it was quick and unsatisfying.

Story 2/5, Heat 1/5, Angst 2.5/5

Fast burn, h sells her vCard to H and they bang at 29%

No condoms, virgin h, H was likely former manwhore - definitely terrified of anything resembling commitment, push away from h, no OW drama, lots OM drama, no big separation. No technical cheating, no cliffhanger and HEA

Safety - I wouldn’t really call this safe with H sending h to bed OM. OM and h never have sex but she gives him naked lap dances.

POSSESSIVE by Vivian Wood is a part of the Heaven & Hell Series. This is the story of Lucas and Manon. Manon is trying to support herself and her little sister. With not having much luck she figures to sell the only thing she has which is herself and having sex for the first time. Lucas wants to buy Manon but for another reason but the more they interact the more he only wants her for himself. Enjoyed the quick hot read.

oh this is bad. 💀

how is she going to prioritize wearing luxurious clothes with no money? the men are annoying.

MC is obnoxious, annoying and frankly the story is freaking stupid.

the good news is: I've now been inspired to write. cause apparently anyone can be a writer.

This was a hot, quick read about 19 year old Manon, a ballerina with too many responsibilities a teenager shouldn’t deal with, and a gorgeous billionaire named Lucas who wants nothing more than proving himself as a savvy businessman and avenge a bad deal from a rival. His plans don’t go quite as planned after a chance meeting with Manon that causes him to take his eyes off the prize. If you enjoy short stories with jealous, possessive billionaires and headstrong females, and savor reading deliciously racy intimate moments, Possessive by Vivian Wood is the novella for you.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

This is a short, sexy and enjoyable read! A must for anyone who loves their books extra steamy!

Lucas and Manon’s story was different than I expected but everything I needed from these two! I loved seeing a more “human” side to Manon and I now get her horrible attitude and consider her redeemed! Lucas is definitely an alpha in the bed and WOW he was something else!

Again a must read story for those who love it extra spicy!

This is a novella which takes place in Purgatory, in The Black Heart Romance Series as well as Vivian Woods own Trilogy, The Broken Slipper.
Lucas is enraged at Godric and is determined to ruin him. He follows him to a club and discovers he's about to bid on Manon to take her virginity. Lucas is determined to undermine him so goes after Manon himself....

I'm going to be honest - It just didn't work for me. A bit confusing and a lot of contradictions...
Guests can't bid yet Lucas did. She's a guardian to Maisie but she's rarely mentioned. Godric pays for a week with her but when she goes to him the next night he said he didn't think he'd see her again? Godric is sleezy but she picks him, a few different things about her appearance, it just didn't work for me.

However the series seems quite popular so maybe it's just me?

*I voluntarily received an arc and this is my honest review.

⭐️⭐️ 2 stars!

This is my least favorite of this series. In less than 200 pages, I expected it would be short and simple however it felt like it dragged on still which is a talent within itself. I did like the main girl, Manon and appreciated that was known to be bitchy and not your everyday, extremely like-able and people pleaser heroine. Lucas on the other hand fell entirely flat for me. The tittle of the novella is called possessive yet he is the opposite of that. He offers her up to another man and forces her be intimate with others all for his selfish gain. It went on too far and too long for me to consider him a possessive mmc and what she went through cannot be undone.

I also didn't like the writing and how cringe the dialogue was at some points. His brother literally tells him to "Go get the girl" and there are literally Taylor Swift lyrics quoted inside the book. I'm a huge swifite but that is a hard pass for me. Speaking of his brother Calum, I expected this to be a stand alone and that was not the case. There are side characters who have their own book and there are spoilers from it in this one. That immediately made me drop my rating.

Overall, the spice was mediocre and so was the story. There are plot holes and loose threads and I don't think the author cared as much about this piece as they may have others. This was my first book from this author and I don't think I will be picking up another. Would not recommend.

Vivian Wood is a new author to me, and this book left me dying to read more from her.

Possessive is a standalone in the Heaven and Hell series and features club Purgatory, a night club to the average person, and a no boundaries sex club for the Elite.

Manon and Lucas are the main characters, and their story is explosive.

She’s a ballerina, trying to support her younger sister, he’s a cutthroat billionaire, and Purgatory is where they meet.

Lucas is there to seek revenge, and Manon is interviewing for a mysterious job.

When the interview turns into an opportunity she can’t refuse, Manon agrees to auction off her virginity.

Lucas is in attendance at the auction, and when he notices his enemy is interested in Manon, he bids for her and wins.

“I’m going to absolutely obliterate you,” he murmurs. “There will be nothing left but razed ruins when I’m done with you, sweetheart.”

To find out how he uses her as a weapon in his master plan, read Possessive, which is currently on sale for .99 on Kindle.

The Heaven & Hell series (of complete standalones) has been hit or miss for me, and this one was a total miss. I was really short compared to all but one of the others, and that didn't allow for much time to get to know our characters, or for their relationship to develop. But instalove isn't an automatic dislike for me, so that wasn't it here. I feel like the story didn't make sense. I get the plot, but it felt like there were plotholes throughout. And there was also something about the writing that didn't jive with me. I have a lot of books by this author, but I don't think that I have every read her before. I am hoping that this was just a one off and not telling of what I can look forward to with other books.

I listened to the audiobook for this book, and while the voicing was well done, I'm glad that this one was free through Audible Plus, because I would have been upset if I had paid for it.

When her mother abandons Manon and her sister she is left with a lot of debts to pay that her job as a ballerina are insufficient to cover. She decides to auction the one thing she has that men want to buy which brings Lucas into her lie.

Lucas is willing to do whatever is necessary to exact his vengeance against an unscrupulous business rival and believes that Manon can ensure it happens. There is no denying the chemistry between them, but will he realize what Manon means to him before it is too late?

I really enjoyed getting to see a different side of Manon and Lucas as they realize that they have met their match in each other.

Possessive was hot and sexy. It was a great story with wonderful characters that kept me engaged. I enjoyed Manon and Lucas' story. She needs money and starts at Heaven, an elite sex club, to be auctioned off. That's where she meets Lucas and he has a deal for her. Will she play along? The chemistry between them is blazing hot. I love that she is strong and sassy and he is possessive of her. Very enjoyable, hot and sexy read.

Possessive

🔥🔥- quick read. With this being around 100 pages I expected it to be a bit instalovey, and that can work for some. This book was a let down tho. Didn’t get a feeling of possessiveness from MMC, which I would have thought that would be a key part to be played. Some of the dialog was a little cringy. Just not for me.

What can I say?

I liked this book. Now I know why I thought The Patron was not in a series. I skipped over this book and went straight to The Patron in order to get the background for Kaia's and Calum's story. This story was two stories into their books. So this was free so I read it. For that price and they must have used another editor.

Possessive was a short and steamy novella set in the Broken Slipper world and focuses on Lucas and Manon. A relationship that starts as revenge quickly turns into something deeper. Both Lucas and Manon have to learn how to navigate this strange new world and the reader is quickly drawn into their passionate story. Full of heat and explosive chemistry, this fast-paced story will leave you wanting more.

Possessive is part of the Heaven and Hell series. Which if you have been following the series this one is about Manon and Lucas.

Manon is a a ballerina, and such an interesting character. I am not huge on ballerinas but she made me like them. Well if Lucas seems somewhat familiar that is because he is the brother Calum. From the Broken slipper series. Which I adore going back and getting to see all of these characters that are related or mentioned in other series.

This is not your typical love story. We have one, Lucas who is using Manon to get what he wants. But really what happens when you use someone to get revenge? It usually backfires.

So I can honestly say that this was a good read, one that I would recommend. Especially if you like a good Vivian Wood story.

Lucas and Manon's novella is everything I expected and so much more. Their story is exciting and captivating from beginning to end, and I literally devoured it.
The chemistry between these two ... incredibly hot.
Their attraction ... so intense.
There is only one teeny tiny thing that I didn't like ... It ended way too fast, lol. I would love to read more about this great couple, and of course Maisie.

What starts out as a revenge move on Lucas’s part turns into more than he bargained for. Manon and Maisie are on their own trying to make ends meet since their mom picked up and left. When an opportunity arises for her to make some quick cash she has no idea what she’s getting herself into. These two are sexy, fun and explosive together. This is a quick read that will have you glued to the pages.

Lucas and Manon’s story was good from the beginning. Manon doesn’t feel like she has any options left which is how she gets to meet Lucas, during what she feels is her only option, but she’s about to find out he had something else in store for her.

3.5 stars rounded up.

Possessive takes place in the Broken Slipper universe (The Patron, The Dancer and The Embrace which follow Kaia and Callum) and is best enjoyed having experienced this trilogy however it can be read as a standalone. It follows Lucas Fordham, Callum's brother, and Manon, Kaia's nemesis/frenemy.
Manon's mother has left her and her younger sister destitute. Having little to no options, Manon resorts to selling her first time for an absurd amount of money at a kink club, Heaven, which is how she encounters Lucas.
Lucas wants to use Manon in an attempt at sexual espionage to get business secrets from a rival but everything goes awry when he begins to feel possessive over Manon.

I enjoyed this short story, albeit not as much as my previous forays into Ms Woods work. I think the character development and their drive/reasoning for their actions wasn't as impactful as it could have been had it been fleshed out into a full novel. In saying that, I did enjoy and would recommend this read. The world building, especially considering the shorter than average length, is really great. The descriptive prose used in bringing the club, Heaven (and the other two layers: Purgatory and Hell) to life was excellent. I really enjoyed the character of Lucas in the Broken Slipper Trilogy and continued to do so here; as for Manon, I was pleasantly surprised by her considering she was such a diva in Kaia's world. The sexual chemistry and tension was good, though I do feel it was rushed once they first met. That build up we got from Callum and Kaia would have made this book so much sweeter in my opinion.

If you're in the mood for something short, a little dark and smexy then one click this baby now.

Thanks to the author and Candi Kane PR for an early read copy of the book in exchange for my honest opinion.
